Columbus really cares about its Indian food :)

Hey Buckeyes and Columbus people, I just wanted to thank everyone who commented on my post a few days ago. I really didn’t expect that many responses, and I’ve been taking notes.

What came up the most:

🌶️ Consistent spice levels
🍛 Better portions, not just sauce
🥞 Dosas done right
🍛 Fresh biryani
🥟 Street food, chaat, kathi rolls, and Indo-Chinese
🌱 Better vegan, vegetarian, GF, and allergen-friendly options
🥃 Cocktails are nice, but food has to come first

For those who asked, the restaurant will be called Bombay House Restaurant & Bar, at 496 Polaris Parkway.

  • I genuinely appreciate all the suggestions (and the brutally honest feedback). We genuinely want to build something Columbus is glad to have. 🙏

An update + a thank you to r/Westerville 🙏

I just wanted to say I really appreciate everyone on this subreddit who took the time to comment on my last post.

The biggest things I heard were:

🥘 Lunch buffet

🍸 A legit happy hour

🥟 Chaat and street food

🥞 Dosas

🍛 Good biryani

🌶️ Spice with flavor, not just heat

For those who asked, the restaurant will be called Bombay House Restaurant & Bar and we’ll be at 496 Polaris Parkway.

More than anything, I genuinely want to build a place that serves great food, treats people well, and becomes somewhere you’ll want to come back to. The feedback has been incredibly helpful, and I’ve been taking notes.

Thank you again, Westerville. Looking forward to serving you all soon. 🙏

Opening a modern Indian restaurant in Westerville this summer, want locals' honest input

Hello! I'm opening a modern Indian spot with a real cocktail program here in Westerville (Polaris area) this summer, and I'd rather hear from actual Westerville people than guess.

What do you wish we had more of around here food-wise? Any dish nobody local nails that you'd love to finally find nearby? And honestly, what would make you want to come back to a new place more than once?

I'd genuinely love your input as we finalize things. Please follow us on Instagram to keep up and see our grand opening date when we reveal it: https://www.instagram.com/bombayhouseusa/

Thanks, looking forward to feeding some of you soon! 😄

Opening a modern Indian restaurant in the Polaris area this summer. Would love this sub's honest input.

Long time lurker. I'm opening a modern Indian spot with an amazing cocktail program up near Polaris this summer, and I'd rather hear from actual Columbus people than guess.

What do you wish Columbus Indian places did better? Any dish nobody around here nails that you'd love to find? And what's missing up around Polaris/Westerville/Dublin specifically?

I'd genuinely love your input as we finalize things. Please follow us on Instagram to keep up and see our grand opening date when we reveal it: https://www.instagram.com/bombayhouseusa/

Thanks, looking forward to feeding some of you soon! 😄

Just want to build something this city's actually glad exists.

Thanks, this sub's sent me to some great meals over the years!

Restaurant owners: what marketing tactics gave you the biggest return before opening?

We’re opening an upscale-casual Indian restaurant soon and are trying to prioritize our time and budget during the final few weeks before opening.
For those who have launched restaurants:
• What generated the most customers before opening?
• What marketing channels were actually worth the effort?
• What was a waste of money?
• Did collecting emails or phone numbers beforehand help?
• How important was social media leading up to opening?
• Did you do a soft opening, and was it worth it?
• Any mistakes you wish you’d avoided?
If you were opening a restaurant again and had 30 days before opening, what would you focus on?
Would love to hear what worked (and didn’t work) from people who’ve been through it.
