Shopify store owners: what do you actually do with your sales data after exporting it?

I’m curious about the part that happens after you download the CSV.

Do you:

  • Put it into Google Sheets/Excel?
  • Build your own reports?
  • Use another analytics tool?
  • Mostly look at Shopify's built-in analytics?
  • Or honestly... export it and never look at it again? 😅

I'm trying to understand how small e-commerce businesses actually handle this today.

What does your workflow look like?

How are you handling Shopify sales data after exporting it to CSV or Excel?

I'm working with Shopify sales exports and trying to understand something technically.

When you export your Shopify data to CSV, what's the best way to structure and analyze it if you want to calculate things like:

  • Revenue by product
  • Revenue by month
  • Average order value
  • Best-selling products
  • Customer/order trends

I'm currently doing some of this outside Shopify and finding that the exported data can require quite a bit of cleaning before it's useful.

Is there a recommended Shopify report/export structure or workflow for doing this efficiently?

I'm particularly interested in how people handle this once the store has a larger number of orders.
