So my tank crashed

I’ve been away for 12 days, got home this morning and my goldfish, Bettas, shrimp etc are all perfectly fine if a little hungry. But my tropical community tank, seems like the filter clogged up so no filtration for a few days. And don’t say I should’ve had someone come to feed them etc, I don’t know anyone who would know how to deal with filter issues. Anyway, the tank has crashed basically. I’m about to do a huge (75%) water change, clean the filter and add a new one because it’s a big tank and probably needs extra filtration anyway. I’m devastated - never had a filter failure whilst I’ve been at home, and I’m so sad for the poor fish. Seems like my loaches suffered worst. I hate to imagine the ammonia buildup and how they must have suffered. But again - they didn’t lack food, they lacked someone who knows what to do with a clogged filter. I feel like total shit so please be patient. Other than 75% water change, remove anything dead including plants, how can I make healthy life possible for the fish who have managed to survive?

Triops food

I’ve just ordered a bunch of triops eggs, about 50, which should arrive in about 8-9 weeks (orders take forever when you live in Gibraltar!) and I need to know what is the best food for newly hatched ones and then what to feed them when they grow, to avoid cannibalism. I can sort them out a sandy substrate with general tiny bits of detritus for the base of their tank (very large and deep Pyrex turkey roaster) but as it’s just eggs, not a “kit”, they won’t arrive with their own food.

So I bought 2 amazing red tiger lotus bulbs and theyre just getting into the business of growing. Too much too fast! They’re in an 80 gallon tank, but they’re fast taking it over! I absolutely love them so don’t say “get rid”, but I do need to know how to keep them from overpowering everything else in the tank, which is already heavily planted with a mix of guppies, gouramis and Botia loaches. Advice very welcome please!

I’ve had a shoal of about 30 guppies for 4 months now, loads of females and most always appeared gravid. But absolutely no babies - even given the other fish in the tank that might eat babies, my Mollys bred like crazy and so many fry grew up I eventually gave them all away. I was wondering what was wrong, in fact today I even bought a new blue male and 2 large male endlers, hoping that new testosterone might give the females a nudge in the right direction. Sooo - I finished acclimatising the new males and released them, and found a few tiny baby guppies hiding in the duckweed and floating plants! Yes, finally! I’d raised the temperature, changed their feed, all sorts - but apparently at least one female couldn’t hold on to her fry any longer! I’m tempted to catch them and put them in a breeding box, but that could be a bit stressful. What would you recommend?

I just bought 20 Amanos online. They arrived healthy, but TINY! Maybe half an inch or smaller I’ve set up a grow out tank for them, but does anyone know how long it’ll take them to get to a size where I can safely put them in with my fish?

So I bought some fairly random plants and wood yesterday. I put the Java Fern on my favourite piece of wood, I think it looks OK for a beginner. I also bought a tiger lotus bulb to provide shade in my community tank - on arrival it looked dead, but now it’s doing fine!

Sorry but Reddit won’t let me post a photo - god I get bored saying that!!! I just wanted to check that 3 of my new fish are Honey Gouramis - bright yellow, slightly orange fins and tail, and the classic gourami trailing whiskers. We bought them in Spain and the shop owner said something that didn’t even sound remotely like honey gourami, so I thought I’d check!!!
