[New York] Physical and Documented start date different

Got laid off from a job in February, claimed unemployment. Went through getting benefits, been claiming as directed weekly, job searching and keeping all apply/rejection emails.

I got an offer for a job 2 weeks ago. It is a part time per diem role with no guaranteed hours( I am a full time student). I accepted the role but due to my school, me being out of the country for a period of time and the employer already having a filled schedule for the schedule period, the employer stated I could start working on 7/6, which is the first day of the new schedule although on paper, my official start date is first week of May.

Went to claim unemployment for this week (week ending 5/17/26) and got a notification that they have “info I’ve been working” and I was required to fill out a form before claiming benefits. Went to fill it out and the form was not submitting for me due to an error in the phone number (could not figure out the issue) and there is no way for me to accurately show what I said above. I also was unable to claim this week’s benefits due to this.

Should I call the office and explain? I don’t want to be forced to pay anything back or be denied future payments because of a situation like this. Advice appreciated

Extra day in Bangkok or Vientiane?

I’m leaving for a near 2 month long trip to SE Asia. Just got an email saying my flight to Vientiane was moved to later in the day due to issues and I got the offer to move the flight to a new day and time free of charge.

I was originally only gonna spend one day/night in Vientiane to catch the train to Vang Vieng the next day and figured I’d look around the city, but based off reviews, Vientiane seems quite bland to most

Would you skip staying in Vientiane and take the extra day in Bangkok? I would fly to Vientiane in the morning and take the train later in the evening in this case
