$9350 Cost of labor for renovation to small bathroom?

This isn't an "OMG I can't believe" it post. But I really have no past experience with this type of work (I've never had a bathroom renovated), so I'm just looking for some context and deciding if I have any room to negotiate.

In my old bungalow I have a small bathroom - less than 5 feet wide by approx 7.5-8 feet long. Plumbing stack was replaced last year as well as some shower plumbing adjusted - which required plumbers to take off some of the old, dilapidated tiles. Have been wanting to upgrade, so thought this would be the time.

The work that I'm being quoted on encompasses:

  1. Removing old tile around tub (tub will remain) and retiling with 10 by 2 inch tile all the way to the ceiling trim (tile previously didn't go all the way to the ceiling.

  2. Installing and tiling inset shower shelf on wall opposite shower fixture.

  3. Installing shower door (currently rod and shower curtain)

  4. Installing new shower fixtures and two grab bars.

  5. Installing new vanity and sink where old one is located

  6. Removing old tile floor and replacing with luxury vinyl

  7. Installing recessed medicine cabinet in wall above sink. There was one there before (ugly, wood, falling apart) and the wall opening remains but I just have a mirror over it. Opening may have to be expanded a little.

  8. Moving current outlet (the only one in the bathroom), which is right above sink and under mirror, to the side.

  9. Moving toilet back slightly. I previously had a new toilet installed and there's about a 2.5 inch gap between toilet and wall. Old one wasn't like that. I thought I simply got the wrong toilet (they have different setbacks) and thought I'd just get a new one for contractor to install, but he said I could use the old one if he moves some plumbing slightly

  10. Moving shower handle (on-off) up a little bit - it's pretty low.

  11. Possibly install new light fixture above new medicine cabinet. We discussed it but I don't remember committing to it.

Total cost $9350 for labor. Materials have been purchased already - the shower materials (tile, grout, all set, backing materials, edging) from tile company (who originally set me up with a contractor who proceeded to end his relationship with the company), and the rest (vanity/sink, recessed mirror, shower fixtures, flooring) from a kitchen/bath place who set me up with the current contractor - who really seemed like he knew what he was doing during my initial consultation.

Thanks.

Missing dog - South City. Thought it can’t hurt to post.

I am posting on behalf of my friend who is not a Redditor. He lives on Bingham in Dutchtown across from Precoat Metals.

Anyway, his dog - a mutt that goes by King - got out of his yard. He has put up fliers and posted on missing pet sites. Any help appreciated. The dog is not chipped. Thank you.

Small bungalow with one bathroom - take out tub or not?

I own a 1000 sq foot bungalow that only has one small bathroom. Needs tile work which I'm going to do among other things in a modest bathroom reno. I got quotes both for (1) retiling the walls around the tub (which I don't use as a tub), and (2) taking the tub out and installing a fully tiled walk-in shower.

Given there's only one bathroom, would you take out the tub? Since it's a starter home, some people I've asked think I should leave the tub in because it's a thing that families with a small child would want if I sell it.

Just looking for opinions. Thanks.

Progress update and question - always stay on lower dose until effects fade significantly?

Currently in fourth week (shot on Sunday) of Wegovy 0.25. It's been very good. 53 year old active male. Start weight 237. Lost 11 lbs in first three weeks with very minimal side effects. Food cravings and wanting to eat past hunger eliminated for the most part. First part of week 4 I've noticed a slight uptick in hunger and "food noise" but nothing crazy. My doctor already had the prescription for 0.5 ready to go, but I had him also write me another one for 0.25 (the previous one was a one-time, no refill since he expected me to go to 0.5). So I have a choice. I'm sort of thinking another 4 weeks at 0.25, particularly since while 3+lbs per week was a great "off and running" start, I don't think I want to lose at that rate for that much longer - though I probably won't since the rate will naturally slow.

I'm thinking out loud more than looking for a concrete answer. Each option seems viable. I don't want to suddenly hit wall in the sixth week of using 0.25 or something. Any opinions welcome. So far so good with Wegovy; I've been pleasantly surprised.

New here and have a question about getting Wegovy with prescription but without insurance.

My primary care physician prescribed Wegovy but insurance would not approve it. Not sure why; this was just three days ago that I got the text and haven't received the official letter or email yet. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol and am fairly overweight, if not morbidly obese. Plus pre-diabetic.

Anyway, I have the money to pay out of pocket, at least up to a certain amount for a certain amount of time. I would really like to try this and see what it does for me. My sister has had fantastic success with Zepbound, though her situation and medical issues are somewhat different.

I've been looking at all these online pharmacies to obtain Wegovy. My doctor said he had patients go through NovoCare which has a lot of mixed reviews.

Having looked at a few sites and reddit threads now, everyone talks about consulting with a certain online pharmacy's physicians and then moving forward with getting their meds.

My question is whether you can just use your primary care physician's prescription to obtain meds without insurance, or do the online pharmacies specifically want you to use their telehealth physicians to secure approval of weight loss meds?

Thanks for any advice. And any opinions on online pharmacies would be appreciated, though I guess I could just research older threads, of which here are many.
