To me the above sentence sounds traumatic, and the reason feels like nothing.

I participated in a paper dance at my college event (higher studies infact, we are not ug kids, we are research students, grown ups, there's no flings and all here, and random chits were selected and people were told to participate, that's why i and the guy participated, I don'tremembermentioningthe guy ever before to him, even if we are batchmates, becausei have had rare interaction with this guy, so there was no prior story to me and this guy).
I have habit of sharing everything from day to day of my life to him, i shared the picture's with him during the event, he was normal about it ( I didn't think it was anything, our body didn't even touched, the guy is such a gentleman, everyone knows he is in committed relationship, and everyone knows how committed i am in my relationship, he is not even my friend, just random batchmate).
Then we had a call, he just informed me, that he is leaving. That's it, done.
I am not able to process anything, i am sitting here in my room , completely numb.

Specifically, I want to work in Government Advisory, Public Sector consulting, or Sustainability/ESG. I really want to work where policy and environmental/social impact meet.
The problem is, I have absolutely zero network. I don't come from a corporate background,
Applying through standard job portals honestly feels like sending my resume into a black hole while everyone else on LinkedIn seems to have internal connections.
I am completely willing to grind and upskill, but I don't know where to direct my energy.
For anyone working in Gov Advisory or ESG at a Big 4—how do outsiders actually get noticed? Are there specific skills, certifications, or types of projects that these specific teams look for on a fresher's resume?
Not looking for handouts, just some honest advice on how to get a foot in the door when starting from absolute scratch.
