Dedicated shaving shelf went up the other day
So I learned how to shave with cartridge razors, the likes of Mach 3 etc. terrible razor burn and ingrown hairs, I stopped and grew a beard, trimmed it with an electric shaver. For years
But I missed having a clean face so I thought I should give shaving a go. I bought the Wilkinson with the butterfly mechanism and its brush and soap (which were rubbish)
10 months later, I’ve left it aside for the King C Gillette, and more lately, for my (growing collection of) straights! I’ve just bought my 3rd from /u/sustainashave, should go on the stones Monday
I can now do a complete shave with a straight and haven’t had the chance to explore spending more money on soap more than a Proraso.
I feel a lot of people would benefit from taking a single everyday action and turn it into a ritual, do it with pride, and unwind. Especially with straights, I feel taking care of your blade, stropping etc is meditative almost. Modern life could seriously do with a break like this.
I don’t dare imagine how much l I’ll have spent in another year from now, but that’s every hobby, ever!
