New paint job for the NC.

Just kidding.

My son and I were having fun at the car wash.

Is this anyone here?

I wanted to park next to you, but there wasn’t a spot. I also think we need a local Miata club!

Gorgeous NB. Super clean.

What are my options? Incorrect 2009 drivers seat rail with correct height Adjustable seat.

So I think I understand the problem I’m having, but I’m not 100% sure. I have a 2009 Miata, in sport trim I believe. I bought it used and got a solid deal. Everything else about it is pretty perfect and it runs and drives great.

I’ve attached some pictures. From what I can tell, this is a factory matching seat to the passenger seat, and it seems like a proper NC Miata seat. It doesn’t seem like an NA or NB seat from my understanding. It has the plastic seatbelt guide integrated into the seat, and the shape of it seems to match the NC style. It has the height adjuster dial, which I’m learning may affect and be part of the actual seat pan/rail part.

For some strange reason, somewhere in this cars ownership, someone swapped the seat rails with rails that don’t fit the mounting brackets of the car. The slider works fine, and the height adjuster works fine, but the rails are too short to match the mounting holes, so they’ve completely wonky mounted this seat in what I consider a not particularly safe manner. The used larger washers to kind of grab the seat rails, and the seat rails don’t have the mounting holes in the position that would match the NC holes in the body.

Any idea why they might have done this? Cheap ghetto seat lowering? Maybe a replacement seat that was used in a previous generation? I have no idea.

Anyway, so I figured i would order this part number: NE51-88-A50. And then just swap them and the seat should mount right up.

But when I realized this has a height adjuster, I’m finding that maybe its an integrated thing and that you can’t get OEM parts that aren’t the entire assembly, which is part number: NH01-88-H50B, which is like $1000-$1500.

And here’s where I’m at. I’m not sure what the best move is, so I’m asking all of you. I would prefer to keep the stock seat. It’s fine, comfortable enough, and there’s no reason to swap it. I don’t need an expensive race seat for this car, as I don’t think it’s worth it.

I have no problem spending the $250 on the OEM rails, but because of the seat adjuster I’m thinking they won’t fit. I don’t want to spend $1000+ on the whole assembly adjustment part, when I only need the rails. I’m fine buying a used part, but haven’t been able to find just that piece.

Can anyone tell what’s exactly going on here, and what my options could be? Are these stock rails that had the stock higher mounting brackets ripped off so it could be mounted lower and then they just ghetto rigged it? And could just lowering brackets be used or something?

It’s such a strange problem, and the guy I bought it from didn’t do it, so he doesn’t know why the previous guy did it either.

Thanks for reading!

Good Win Roadstersport Race Single installed!

I recently found a deal of a 2009 MX5 Sport with a soft top. It’s been so fun to rip around on.

I’ve been contemplating an exhaust, but wasn’t sure what I wanted. I’m not the type to be loud and obnoxious, but I kept reading about how quiet the other Goodwin exhausts were.

I was worried I’d get something expensive and not loud enough so I figured for $300 I’d take the chance on the race exhaust as I have no plans to change headers etc.

It’s so small and light compared to the stock exhaust! Installation was quick and easy. No jacks. Just parked it on a high area on the driveway.

I definitely agree with the idea of getting the cheap Amazon exhaust tool. It helped a ton.

Sound is great. I don’t think it’s too loud or droney. I’m in my 40’s and I don’t feel self conscious about driving it downtown or anything. Drone on the highway is fine, even at 3500rpms. Shifting at low rpms really isn’t bad either.

I think it’s great overall and am glad I didn’t get anything quieter. My wife thinks it sounds good and not too loud, and my son thinks it’s rad.

I did it! I joined the club!

I found a local 2009 manual soft top today and bought it and it’s so fun! I haven’t driven a manual in like 20 years and it’s such a blast.

I almost bought a 2019 gorgeous RF but figured I didn’t need to spend 20k for a fun toy car.

Anyway, got this for 5k.

Looking at a 2019 GT with 45k miles. Are any of these pictures cause for concern?

NBD! Dingwall John Taylor 5

I’ve wanted to try a Dingwall for a while, so when the black JT’s went on sale, I figured it was time.

I posted my thoughts on Talkbass and can copy and paste it here if anyone is interested.

It’s a cool bass. Takes a little getting used to, but once you do, it’s pretty awesome. I was hesitant for a while because of the “made in china” thing, but I must say, fit and finish is perfect, setup was perfect out of the box. It’s pretty incredible.

Compared to my EBMM Stingray Special 5HH, it doesn’t give you the same magic feel when you look at it, but it sure does sound and play well, and the low B is amazingly clear, as is the overall string tension.

These are the pictures sent to me from FretNation before I picked the one I wanted. They sent me a ton more, and were a pleasure to work with.

RUSH!

Who’s going?!

My son is a drummer and a big Rush fan, so we’re gonna fly down to LA to go so see the second show. I figure it’s his only chance to ever see what’s left of them.

It would have been cool to see them in their prime, but after seeing their Rick Beato interviews, I’m still stoked. They seem like such great dudes.

I was shooting a night 2 gun match and this guy had all sorts of cool gear.

This was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. The clarity was amazing.
