Would you book Feb 2027 or wait until 2028 for an important family member?

I posted here a couple weeks ago about choosing between Feb/March/May 2027 and got a ton of helpful advice, so I’m back 😂

We found a venue we LOVE with Feb 20th available with a huge discount from their normal spring pricing.

The wrench in everything is my brother. We’re extremely close and I genuinely can’t imagine my wedding without him. He starts state trooper academy in January and graduates in June. He can’t miss training for a wedding, but should be able to travel in Friday evening after training, attend a Saturday wedding, and leave Sunday. (He’s 11 hrs away from that venue so flying is best option)

So basically:
February 2027: Venue we love, great price, brother should be there. Downsides are unpredictable Texas winter weather/brown scenery, and he’ll be in the thick of academy. I’m less worried about him physically making it than I am about him being exhausted and not really able to enjoy the weekend.
April 2027: More of the green spring wedding I pictured, but the venue gets significantlyy more expensive AND my brother is still in academy, so it doesn’t really solve the main problem.
After June: His work schedule will likely rotate 3 on/2 off, 2 on/3 off. Once we know his rotation, we could choose one of his Fri-Sun breaks but we may not know that far enough in advance to book something for later 2027.
Spring 2028: We’d have plenty of time, could choose a date around his actual schedule, and get the spring wedding I originally pictured. But we got engaged in April 2026 and waiting almost two years feels like A LOT when we’re otherwise ready to get married 😂

December 2026 is technically an option and would guarantee he’s available, but neither my fiancé nor I really want to plan a wedding in 3 months unless we absolutely have to….

Would you take the great February 2027 deal and trust that your brother will be okay for one weekend during academy, or wait until his schedule is established and potentially push the wedding to 2028?

Wedding date February 27th, March 6th or 13th, or May 29th

We’re trying to decide between a late February, March, or Memorial Day weekend wedding in Texas. I’d love some outside opinions!

Late February is tempting because the venue would be about half the normal price, but it would only give us about 6 months to plan. I’m mostly worried about whether that’s enough notice for guests who would need to travel, plus the unpredictability of February weather. Also, with my job I can’t put in vacation weeks until April 2027.

March seems like a good middle ground. The venue price goes up some compared to February, but it’s still discounted. It would the same situation with not getting to put in for vacation until April 2027.

Memorial Day weekend would give us the most time to plan and works really well for our schedules. I know people have strong opinions about holiday weekend weddings, but Memorial Day honestly isn’t a particularly important weekend for most of our families but we do obviously have other friends & family coming that I’m not sure. I’m more concerned about travel/accommodation costs, vendors charging more, or guests feeling like we’re taking up their holiday weekend.

There is also another family wedding a few weeks before Memorial Day that many of the same guests will be attending, which makes me hesitate about that option.
Which would you choose: late February, March, or Memorial Day weekend?

And if you’ve had or attended a Memorial Day weekend wedding, was it actually inconvenient or not a big deal?

How did you decide between a destination wedding and a local wedding?

My fiancé and I are trying to decide between having a destination wedding or a traditional wedding closer to home, and I honestly don’t know which decision I’d regret less.
We currently live in a different state than most of my family, while my fiancé’s family is closer to where we live. No matter what we choose, a significant number of people will have to travel, so there really isn’t an option that’s convenient for everyone.

Originally we pictured a larger traditional wedding, but after looking at costs, we’re realizing we could have a much more intimate destination wedding and probably have the experience we’ve always wanted.
My biggest hesitation isn’t actually the travel, it’s my family dynamics.

Without getting into too much detail, there are a few close family members who tend to end up arguing or getting their feelings hurt whenever everyone is together for big events. It’s not guaranteed to happen, but it happens often enough that I’m already worrying about it while planning our wedding. Part of me likes the idea of a destination wedding because the guest list would naturally be smaller. But then I wonder if having everyone together for several days would actually create more opportunities for tension than just having one wedding day.

On the other hand, I’ve also seen people make every effort to choose a location that’s easier for family, only to still have a lot of people decline. That makes me wonder if I’d regret spending significantly more on a traditional wedding just to accommodate everyone if attendance ends up being lower anyway.

For those of you who have complicated family dynamics, what did you decide?
If you had a destination wedding, did the extra time together make family drama better or worse?
If you had a traditional wedding, do you feel it helped keep things simpler?

I know no one can predict how my family will act, but I’d really love to hear from people who’ve been in a similar situation and whether they were happy with the choice they made.

What’s your favorite concealer?

Okay what’s everyone’s favorite concealer? I want to try a new one. I’ve been loyal to it cosmetics bye bye under eye because I have very dark under eye circles. BUT I’ve finally found an amazing color corrector by Bobbi brown that has changed the game and I feel like I can try others to just help brighten more and not need to completely cover alone.
I’ve tried:
- tarte shape tape ( way way too dry for me)
- L’Oréal infallible (I like, but it dries out & cakes)
- Mabeline fit me (this was my highschool go to and I loved it 😂)
Interested in:
- Natasha denona
- hourglass
- tower 28
- rare beauty brightener
- Lancôme
- Charolette tilbury
