I've heard that if an person after death does not receive proper antim-sanskaar, their soul does not liberate/carry forward to the next birth. But don't we, irrespective of the method of final rites,return to nature after death?

Before the stotram (on the websites) there's shantipath and dhyaanam mantras given.
Do we have to recite these before starting the stotram path or we can directly begin?

I feel bad for this dog looking at his condition. Could someone please help him or notify any NGO/organisation who may? He is malnourished, and carries deep red marks on his skin (appeares like skin infection to me). Possibly also infected by lice.
