Banza dish turned out okay
The only thing I didn’t turn out liking, and which I was the most excited to try, was the meatballs. They had a very strong garlic taste that I was burping up for hours later.
Look what I found at Walmart!
I live in a small city in Oklahoma with a population of about 25,000. We have a Walmart Supercenter because there are a lot of little towns nearby. I always glance at the Cheez-Its, just in case. There were 3 and I bought 1. I don’t even like regular Cheez-Its, but I think my son likes them (we both eat gf). When he opens them I will try one. The supply is getting better!
Update: My son said they aren’t as good as regular Cheez-its, but he still liked them okay. As for me just like regular Cheez-its, I don’t like them. I’m happy for everyone that loves them and has access now.
If you have a second autoimmune disease…
If you have celiac plus another autoimmune disease, which would you prefer to be cured?
I got T1D at 47 and CD at 60 (71f). I would choose to get rid of the T1D.
Having to eliminate gluten out of my diet and having to worry about/trying to avoid CC and suffering when it occasionally happens sucks but not as much as counting every carb and trying to keep my blood sugars in range with insulin sucks. I also have to get an injection in my left eye every 3 months for diabetic retinopathy which I always dread.
Sugar free
I’m tired of people thinking that because something is sugar free that I can eat it. My mom says that a lot and has for years “Oh, it’s sugar free, you can eat it.” She’s 96 now so I just say no thank you, but 20 years ago I tried to explain and it just didn’t sink in.
And not just her, other people too. At a work cafeteria they wanted to make more diabetic friendly desserts with sugar free substitutes and even talked to me about it. I tried to explain that it’s not the sugar it’s the carbs, but they ignored me and made sugar free diabetic ‘friendly’ desserts. I mean I didn’t even try to explain the difference between T1 and T2 because I think the carbs not sugar thing applies to them too.
Also, I have to eat sugar when I go low so why totally avoid it and sugar substitutes cause me diarrhea or upset my stomach.
Ok, that’s my rant. 😝
Edit: These weren’t coworkers. They were cafeteria workers that I was friendly with. I’m retired now but I was a software tester. I never said anything mean to them. Once they started making the sugar free desserts that they labeled as diabetic friendly I never said a word. I never ate them because they would’ve upset my stomach but maybe some people liked them. This is just a silly little rant and some people who are getting angry at me need to chill.
Waitress at local Chili’s
I live in a small town and the local Chili’s is one of the few options for me. They have a gf QR code and I’ve never been glutened there.
This is just a post to give you a laugh. I asked for the QR code for the gf menu up front (I go so seldom that I forgot that it is available through the digital thing on the table). A new older waitress heard my request and looked right me and said, “Oh, you just can’t have bread.”
Thank goodness she was there. lol
These are good after microwaving for 30 seconds
I found these at Bealls; non-refrigerated, 3 different flavors, individually wrapped. Very dry, but after I tried microwaving them for 30 seconds they tasted like a real donut and I liked them.
Gluten free food touching gluten food in movie
Isn’t this ridiculous? On this movie the gf bagels are touching the other bagels!
