(Let's organize) off-road RC racing in Berlin

Hi everyone,

I am running 1/28 and 1/14 buggies exclusively for bashing. I would love to go racing with either (or a fresh 1/10), but there essentially isn't any RC racing culture in Berlin and barely any around. I know about five off-road tracks in the vicinity, but all 1-2 hours away from where I live or not my scale.

So, who would be up for organizing some RC racing in Berlin?

Here are some unsorted thoughts on different constraints:

Category

Off-road. 2WD or 4WD or mixed.

Scale

1/28 is great for limited-space indoor action and has a good range of similar-performing affordable cars like the Losi Micro B/T, the Speck B, and others. They work outdoors, but struggle with rocks and grass.

My 1/14 basher is more versatile when it comes to outdoor environments, but makes it hard to find sufficient space for racing.

Location

The big question. 1/14 works well in lower grass or dirt in parks. Jumps would need to be natural elevation changes, or portable ramps. 1/28 could work on solid ground like asphalts strips around parks, but jumps would require ramps for sure.

Some skateparks could be nice for racing, but limited to early morning when nobody wants to skate there.

A purpose-built little track would be amazing, but I can't offer a garden, house, or general space to use. A 1/28 carpet track can fit into a few square meters of space in an abandoned or little-used area. Building permanent elements has its own issues. Portable track elements could help.

Timeframe

Happy to get started this summer or autumn.

Organization

I mostly want to test the waters and see if I can find fellow hobbyists to start a little movement or community. If you tell me that you want to build a track in your late uncle's abandoned backyard, I'm 100% in, though I expect that an early starting point would be a session in the park.

Looking forward to your ideas!

Typhon Grom BLX: Worn gears, lost drive

My Typhon Grom BLX suddenly started making loud high-pitch grinding noises on throttle and accelerated much worse than usual. I suspected that the gear mesh could be too lose after my last re-assembly, but then noticed very uneven wear patterns on pinion and spur.

Assuming that I'd need new gears anyway, I put everything back together to see if I could get a last session out of the gears, but the grinding was still there and eventually I entirely lost drive.

I'll get new gears, but I also want to figure out what the root cause could be to avoid this from happening again. The motor-pinion axle seems stable and the motor mount on that chassis doesn't allow for much wiggle room that could explain the motor and pinion being angled.
Months ago I had no drive and this kind of grinding since a tiny stone had found its way in, but removing it fixed the issue without visual impact on the gears.

Any ideas?

Questions on Supabase DPA / Data Processing Addendum

I just requested a DPA for my company (German-founded, EU region) via https://supabase.com/dashboard/org/_/documents and received a Docusign link. I will not share the document contents here for now as I don't know if parts are confidential, but most if not all of it should be identical to any DPA you've seen and signed.

Going through the DPA (Part 2, June 2026) before signing with my legal advisor, we identified some open points:

  1. We want a dedicated email address ("privacy@example.com") recorded as the Part 1 customer contact and the clause 14.3 notice address, rather than my private email address which has been adapted from my GitHub account which I use for SSO. Has anyone done this, does it stick, and do breach and subprocessor notices actually arrive there?
  2. Does Supabase countersign, or is acceptance just implicit?
  3. Schedule 3 lists OpenAI for "natural language processing and generation." Does it ever touch project DB or storage contents, or only support tickets and dashboard AI? Zero retention? Same question for Clay Labs, Hex and Braintrust.
  4. Schedule 3 has subprocessor names and purposes but no countries. Anyone got the mapping?
  5. We're using eu-central-1 as region. Do primary data and automated backups stay in region, and can support or engineering staff outside the EU access project data?
  6. The contracting entity is Supabase Pte. Ltd, not the US entity. Anyone dealt with that for transfer documentation?

I already reached out to Supabase and will update this post with their response when it arrives, but I'd like to hear your experiences and knowledge on the topic.

Dankeschön!

Jitter / micro stutter, Fire Stick 4k Max and Samsung smart TV

Last weekend, the stream worked just perfectly fine and smooth.

This weekend, there is a slight constant jitter that especially is noticeable when cars or the camera move laterally. Web player works fine.

Stutter is constant and was already present at lower resolution after starting the stream. Also no problems with 4k streaming in general, so my internet connection doesn't seem to be the issue.

Using latest gen Fire Stick 4k Max and Samsung smart TV. Recent updates for everything, fully reset fire stick and changed HDMI ports already.

Quite annoying since it worked until now and I bought the Fire stick for F1 in 4k only.

Any ideas?

Alternative to steering assist?

I'm playing on controller and started without steering assist and found it a lot of fun, but also very unstable and jittery since steering inputs translate to steering in-game directly. I rarely have a smooth drift where the suspension is calmed and settled.

I tried steering assist, but it takes the fun out of drifting for me since I can't really "steer left to go right" anymore since the game does it for me.

Is there a middleground option for smoother steering without automatic counter-steering, maybe as a mod?
