Talking to the guy for the first time in an arranged marriage setup
I’m about to have my first conversation with a guy for an arranged marriage. Our mothers are exchanging our numbers for the first time very soon.
For context, I grew up with strict Islamic boundaries. I have never had guy friends and have never really chatted with a non mahram man before. So this is completely new territory for me.
I’m really nervous. I have a lot of questions swirling in my head, but I’m terrified that if he asks me do you have any questions for me? my mind will go completely blank. I don't know how to keep the conversation flowing.
I've read advice saying not to ask the hard questions (like finances, salary, or debt etc) right away. But if I avoid those, what exactly am I supposed to talk about? I don't want to just say hi and then awkwardly stare at the screen.
So my questions to you all are:
- How do I actually initiate the conversation after the initial "Salaam"?
- What are some good, light, but meaningful conversation starters for the first chat to get to know his personality?
- How do I keep the flow going naturally without it feeling like an interview?
Any specific icebreaker questions that aren't about money/work but still tell me about his character would be really helpful. JazakAllah khair!
I dint have any older sisters or cousins who can guid eme so ifff anyone of you here can help plss im freaking out
