Damn Jasmine Dragon! Even with a basecoat while I wore it I am still stained half a month out.
Tongue Scaper Review- Dollar Tree Edition
Same emoji system as always, babes.
The Gurunandu option works adequately but the bristles require it to be replaced every 3 months like a toothbrush so why not just brush your tongue with your regular brush then scrape off with a scraper you can sanitize? So while I will use it occasionally these next few months I will not be repurchase.
The Smyl stainless steel tongue scraper on the other tongue, is completely reusable for the rest of your life as well as durable. I really hate the give and bending some of the plastic tongue scrapers can have. I want to punish my wiggly food taster until it is clean! Stop being weak and let me!
This third option is I believe a generic equate type tongue scraper and it is the second choice out of the bunch for me. It works and is slightly firmer than the orabrush handle
This one genuinely made me puke. I don't know if it was the 3 other tongue scrapers going before or I have been slacking on my wifey duties but I hurled in my sink from using this one a little too aggressively trying to get the back of my tongue to the same degree of effectiveness as the Smyl. Plus if I wanted to feel like there was a hairy cat tongue cleaning inside my mouth I would go hold my mouth open near my one brain celled kitty. /s
Boil the metal one every week or so! Thanks for reading and may all your hauls be dollaring. 💄💅🧼🧴🤑💰
Natural Sense Rosemary Biotin Water Hair Thickening Mist
Does this work? Is it pure placebo effect? Psuedoscience or wishful thinking? Who the eff knows but I like it well enough to make this post!
Ingredient list.
Day 1 of treatment.
1 week of treatment.
2 weeks in.
It did not turn me into Farrah Fawcett but I have noticed it feels healthier and thicker. Having a kid really did a number on my hair with lots of shedding and thinning plus all the other hormonal changes that come with getting old. It isn't a blow out in a bottle but for a buck I have really liked it. Plus I can reuse it after for either an at home recipe or biooil for after shower skin smoothness!
Dollar Tree Eye Creams Review and a bonus panned product pic
I have tried a few eye creams over the years and these are the ones from my collection that I think are kinda comparable to the ones I liked from Dollar Tree. The strivectin is much more thin in comparison but the tightening feeling they both give is similar to me. The Glam Glow Bright eyes is a thick girl and it doesn't absorb as well in my opinion as the Kiyo. Research for this post is also how I discovered that Glam Glow has shuttered operations mostly, greatly scaled back their available products and is no longer answering marketing emajls. End of an era.
The green roller ball is a no go from me. Dermasil usually does a great job in my book on skincare so this was especially disappointing. Not just the serum itself but the packaging was jank.
That whole Summer Friday dupes line creams are wonderfully hydrating. I really like the eye cream and the heavier facial moisturizer. They work!
The Kiyo Dark Circle Eye Cream with Vit C is so far, the real deal. I went back and grabbed a second jar for back up and am so glad I did. Not only are the results sinilar enough to more expensive brands that I am switching but it is double the size. Yes, you read that right. Olay is $30 for .5 Oz usually. Meaning the Kiyo at $1.50 and 1 Oz is comparing to $60 instead because of the amount of product. The Glam Glow Bright Eyes was $40 for .5 oz. The jar is thick glass and the viscosity of the cream is enough yhat when flipping it upside down like I am working at a Dairy Queen in the 90s nothing came out. It isn't a laser treatment session but for an eye cream at this price, I am incredibly impressed. Hope to see it more easily available.
Ingredients list on Pic 2.
About 2 weeks of daily uses in a tube, give or take a couple days based on thickness that you apply. Yes, I scrapped the last little bit out with my fingers like a Neanderthal. So what?! This ish works for me. The most gently clay mask on my skin, it isn't curing cystic hormonal acne but the pores and actual bounciness of my skin is much improved. Plus the actual self care time I get in the moments of waiting for it to dry before bathing- freaking priceless. 👌
As always, may all your hauls be dollaring!
I know it ain't $100 a salon visit acrylics but for less than five bucks(cuticle remover, tips, glue and oil) and twenty minutes in my house it sure is real hard to beat. 💅
My "I really want to find a rainbow of Essie and the new sanitizer case with charms" haul after 3 different stores.
Same emoji review system as last time.
I swear I was in and out each time. Only the very last one had the single shade of Essie💎. None had the new cases. Consolation prize of finding two more of the popping body elixirs💎 does help take the sting out. Found the darker shade of the brow pomade so going to give it a second try but if it doesn't work for me this time then I am going back to the spoolie twist eyebrow pencil I have now.(Definitely a better match, upgraded from the original review to 😄)
Thanks for the feminine moisturizer😄 elsewhere tip on here! Good unscented option for use after washing hands or body but so far I am preferring the Glowing body lotion from Orchid😄.
First time seeing the flyaway wand🥰 in stock so had to grab and give it a try.
Those are the greatest scalp massagers I have tried. I have a twenty dollar one with a long handle that I have been using less because of how much better this one is. Firm enough to really get in there but enough give that I am not raking my skin off, had to grab a backup before it goes back to the soft silicon ones I was seeing for the longest time.💎
Some more retinol for potions and facials.💎
The Ioni nail art pens work mid and look mid or maybe I just suck at drawing that badly but for me, it needed to be thickly applied then sealed with a top coat immediately. Otherwise you get chipping immediately.😒
Vaseline rose lip balm in a tub dupe🥰 is one of my favorites. I confess, I often reach for the differenr flavored tubs over that viral white and blue tube overnight lip mask everyone seems to love on. Plus they come two to a package.
I am waffling on the rating for the Flower under eye corrector that ai bought. I believe it is truly a 🥰 but knowing that all Flower products are only going to be available for a finite time makes me want to upgrade it up to 💎. FOMO is a heck of a drug.
I think I am going to stop going to the tree for a minute, then hopefully by the time I go back the cases are old news thus easy to find. Hope you all have a great weekend and as always; may your hauls be dollaring!
One of the funniest monologues of the entire season. Please forgive my trying not to shake due to laughing even after watching repeatedly.
DT'S Dupes, Do's and Don't's
I need to preface this to say everything I know about acting feminine from skincare to nails to makeup is all self taught as an adult. I am probably now in my early middle aged era, where many of you are in your later teens. One of the first things I bought when I had access to adult money was quality makeup then taught myself as much as I could that was available online at the time. I am a fat, white, old(to me, sometimes I randomly catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and yell like the dad from My Big Fat Greek Wedding, "Why you look so old?!"), combination skin, perpetually tired mom. And here is my review.
💎 = Fantastically great product. Will hunt to buy again and a backup.
🥰 = Really liked it. If I come across it in the wild and am almost out will probably grab another.
😄 = I enjoyed it well enough but won't repurchase as I prefer other options so much more.
😑 = Meh. I will use up what I have as to not be wasteful but unimpressed.
😒 = Bad. Did not enjoy. Will not buy again.
🤮 = WTF is this. I wasted my money and the experience I had with this product was bad enough for me to warn others not to waste theirs.
Nails:
I am really into how cost effective yet useful the nail items are at dollar tree. I am not brave enough quite yet to experiment with all of their nail polishes after a really bad experience with a trio I bought once upon a time from DT but for the push top acetone, cuticle care and nail glue/press ons I don't see myself shopping elsewhere from now on. It is just too convenient and and the quality remains without sacrificing the price.
From dotting tools to rhinestone picker uppers and even the corrector for cleaning up the edges afterwards I am really grateful to have the tools available for experimenting now as I didn't get too when I was littler. Something is incredibly healing about getting to play freely like this. The cuticle remover is a great dupe for the Sally Hansen, it takes a tiny bit longer and is opaque versus clear but absolutely works just as well. Ioni oils have a slight residue when they dry down that my fragile wrinkly finger skin adores. It feels so silky smooth when combined with that serum and the balm stick and some lotion. Come, touch my special hand. and see how smooth it is.
Skincare: the facial serums are G.O.A.T. you can add them to any lotion as a booster or apply them directly to your skin. Whether face or hands or arms or legs it absorbs incredibly well and leaves a really nice glow. I also like using it with the jade gua sha I got for lymphatic drainage when I can.
The Dermasil drunk elephant dupes are pretty good except for the eye roller serum thing I hated. Then came the glass skin enzyme set which I really enjoy and absolutely gave me a dewy glass skin look after a week of the routine. The blue Dermasil is my favorite set so far. Hydrated and unbovered, this is my set for the summer. The only thing I could take or leave is the refresher spray that is part of it, I think I am using too much or something.
The lip scrubber I use for nose and chin with the dermasil oil based cleanser; just wow. I can not overstate how much of a different it makes with the trouble areas like my nostril folds. Also great for lip masks but I use a separate one for that now.
This one deserves two diamonds, one for the push top container and the other for the Dermasil Oatmeal and Snow Mushroom toner. This is my Frank's Red Hot of skincare. I put that $#!+ on everything! It is gentle enough not to irritate further while still astringent enough to clear the skin to leave it looking refreshed no matter my issue.
Check the ingredients but some of these essential oils are not only a good deal but incredibly useful around the house and world. I use peppermint for cleaning and a quick fix nausea remedy.
Mehs: the nail stickers are cute enough to learn on but there are much better deals online for better quality.
The eye pads don't stick as well or long enough as I desired. I am trying to use them up but even with daily clay face masks I don't reach for them at all unless I force myself. I got reusable ones for less than 5 bucks and they works much better plus I get to doctor the serum I want to use which evokes a similar feeling to making potions in my childhood bathroom.
The zero frizz spray seems to work but it has alcohol in it which my hair doesn't seem to respond well too.
Leave in conditioner- it hydrates for sure but is way too much for my hair too handle. The smell does make me feel like Bella Swan though.
The cucumber peel off mask, the kylie lip dupes and the Brazilian Breeze line from hair mist to deodorant to the shower gel to the wipes are all great in my opinion. As someone who once spent way too much on a hair repair system it is mind blowing to me that now you can buy an entire line in a coordinated scent for about $20 and you will not only feel clean but smell great as the products all work well. 🤯
Makeup remover>hair wrap towel. One actually works as intended. If I, with my thin ass white people hair can't make this towel work as it doesn't dry it or even stay up then how the eff is anyone with actual hair expected to. All the makeup removers seem to work for me though. I like that you can wash and reuse them and after a few months when they stop absorbing water you can do a vinegar rinse to try and reinvigorate them or you can just buy another pack for $1.25.
This next picture are my Dollar Tree Diamond Dogs. If you watch Ted Lasso then you know these are the ones that I am going to bark at you about and bark loudly.
The Flower Serum Foundation works better than any other foundation I have found from DT, even Prolux and I really like that liquid one. The Dove lotion circles are perfect for my purse and when empty it opens up to allow me to refill with one of my afore mentioned pod serum capsule potions. This biotin spray works and even though it doesn't smell the best it has quickly become a staple in my hair routine. The skin elixirs tricked me, I thought it was going to be gimmicky and sticky and only appeal to kids. Well I was wrong. This works and well and I haven't been able to find it in coconut since I realized the truth. Uuuuuggggh, ain't that the way the cookie crumbles. You fall in love with a specific product then it disappears from your store personally forever. I just completely finished my first bottle of this lotion and it works best if applied right after shower, bath or washing your hands. Something about having slightly damp skin is really sealed in by this lotion, and I greatly enjoy the scent.
The ordinary dupe lip balm is scented and I like it more than the original. There I said it. Make sure you get the right batch because there is a 15ml batch floating around that is gross and messy amd the containers are weaker for some reason unknown to me. Regardless they reverted back it seems after many complaints.
The Dermasil whipped recovery is part of the drunk elephant dupes but ai use it almost exclusively on my hands and elbows and heels. It is just a bit too greasy on me outside of the dead of winter but it really freaking works on those dry, cracked parts of my body that need some extra attention.
This brow gel is part of the new Ioni dolly line and I was really impressed at the price point how well it worked without feeling laminated. Good job, Ioni. Between this and the Honey Matcha oil pen I consider it a decent enough release overall.
Pencil sharpener works just as well as my UD and they came in a 2 for 1 package. Hard to beat for a dollar.
I like falsies. And I like dollar tree falsies. Heck I have found Ardell there before. But I really like these cases. They hold multiple pairs of lashes and have a mirror built in as well as a the ability to stay opened on it's own. The only thing I would add is a spot to store the lash glue.
The mascara is decent enough but I am pretty picky when it comes to my lashes I guess. It works and is a dollar and for that you get a smile but I will most likely not be rebuying.
The serum from the drunk elephant dupe line is great for gua sha or the at home serum eye patches I mentioned above. It is hydrating and smooth with no irritation after.
Even half empty upon purchase I still really like these brightening drops. Maybe it is the reality of me accepting I won't find the rose gold ones from the allure collection again but the yellow gold of these is still pretty darn eye catching. Also great for adding some shimmer to the lotion potions I am prone to mixing.
Things I won't be repurchasing and why:
Bpure nail oil in Lavender smells gross and I don't like the consistency as much as the ioni. Just something about that dry down is chef's kiss.
The mini travel container for lotions. Not only is it small but I am too dumb to figure iut how to make it work. I did get the atomizer from the perfume to work but this is defying all logic or is already broken.
The sunglasses chain is unruly and got caught in my hair around the pearls more than once. Ouch.
The nailGlow was something I had such high hopes for. I thought it would be a dupe for the fancy nail treatment from a certain luxury brand but instead I can't figure out how to make this work. If I leave it too long it peels off leaving damaged nail behind or I scrape it off while gooey and then it only looks nice once I put a nail oil over top.
The serum stick is wax. I wish I was kidding. It seems to be a perfumed wax stick.
The pomade brow duo had a more intense review previously from me but it boils down to 1) I am a moron and this is idiotproof packaging 2) the undertone for this seems to be aimed towards gingers
This L.A. Color lippie that is supposed to change shade depending on your pH was not only vile tasting but the shade was horrible on me. But that chemical aftertaste would haunt me for hours every time I tried to wear this. To the trash with you!
2 weeks in and I am about to hit pan on the Orchid clay mask in tea tree oil. If there is a single fan on this planet of this stick mask then it is me. One of my absolute favorite finds from the Dollar Tree ever. My skin is looking brighter, bouncier and my barrier is thanking me. So gentle that I am using it daily without drying. The downside is that even though I went back the same day to grab one of the last on the shelf as a backup tube, it has been half a month and haven't seen them since. Please come back, my love. You can blame it all on me.
Hope you enjoyed this way too long and involved review caused by having a minute to myself before the day started. May all your hauls be dollaring!
Is this actually a working dupe for that $30 Olay? For 5 quarters I had to find out.
Is the plastic Nanda tongue scraper as good as a metal scraper(which I am heavily biased for)? Does the Hyaluronic Acid Body Wash work as well as the matching bpure lotion does on my skin? Let's find out next time on Dollar Tree's Dupes and Don't's
Shower gel and Dove bag lotion in the little circle were third round repurchases this go round. Also a couple older sanitizer scents as I hunted for the new Berries and Cream one that just dropped as if I, myself, was indeed a Little Lad. Alas no luck yet on that front. Or the new sanitizer cases that you can customize like crocs apparently.
Dollar tree nail stickers. For the times you need a reminder to the world that you are wearing flower themed nails by putting the word flowers next to, you guessed it, flowers.
Joking aside, I have been enjoying experimenting with all the DT nail stuff. Some are absolute flops(looking at you nailGlow) but others are pretty impressive such as ioni cuticle oils, balm stick, cuticle remover, etc. 24 hours in. Pink striper polish used for awkward tips, nail stickers, oil and lotion are all DT.
Sidenote; I really am enjoying the biotin rosemary hair spray. Does anyone have an at home recipe they like to refill the helpful bottle with? Just anticipating it being hard to come by as soon as I run out.
I too know the pain of not being able to find a black case for my sanitizer
I usually keep a sani plus case on my purse and one on my wallet or keys; I have so many cases but not a solid black one. Heck, I am willing to settle for a black one with glitter by this point. Yes, I know I can buy one for 5 to 10 bucks but the hunt is part of the thrill. The other part is only spending a dollar.
DT Purse Essentials- exhausted mom edition: Usually have the wipes and the soap sheets as well. A heating patch at the bottom for emergencies, my shade but better Ioni blush in soft pink, essential oil in Wellness, cuticle oil in my new favorite scent of Honey Matcha and a mini perfume atomizer are all of my dollar tree on the go essentials. What do you have stashed away in your purse from the dt that you swear by?
Mother's Day Mini Haul
Grabbed backups of the just add water soap sheets keychain. Trust me, you only need to see how useful it is once after you catch your kid digging in the dirt at the park and you will want 3. Perfect if you need a step up from just hand sanitizer.
Had to grab some of the teeth whitening pens that everyone on here swears works. Years of soda, coffee and once upon a time even cigarettes have stained my teeth so its nice to feel like you can do something at home without draining your wallet entirely.
Metal tongue scraper>any plastic tongue scraper every day of the week.
My hair has never been the same since having a kid so after reading the raves on here I decided to go back and grab a bottle plus backup after leaving it in store last week.
A few random goodies that I have been meaning to try. For about a dollar if I hate it, it doesn't hurt nearly as bad as forcing yourself to get through a product you don't even Iike just because it cost so much.
Happy mothers day to all of you and happy hunting!
Ioni Dolly Haul-ey
This entire manicure was less than 5 bucks. The tips are LA Sugar Crush Jelly tips with ioni brush on glue and ioni honey matcha cuticle oil talons the edges, all from Ye Ole Tree of The Dollar. The smell of this honey matcha has me ✨️OBSESSED✨️. 24 hours in on these tips
My mini haul.
Tried out this clear brow gel and actually really liked it. My main advice is clean up while it is wet but do not put anything like sunglasses on until it is completely dry. Felt secure but not laminated.
Ingredients on the back.
If there is ever a fool buying 3 giant ass nail jewelry rhinestones from this store it is me. I like the way the backs curve to my nail bed. I use nail clue and top coat to secure. My favorite so far has been that giant heart from a few nail bars ago! Anyone else playing around more now in your old age then you did before for whatever reason?
A review and a tragedy in 4 parts. Ioni brow pomade+brush duo
I originally was going to do a comparison review but due to my own idiocy and hubris; it quickly pivoted into a salvage operation. I bought this a while back but finally used up my last brow pencil to be able rationalize opening new.
After attempting to paint on nothing, twisting up also left no product on the brush so finally I figured out the back of the pen popped off. Now here is where a smart human would have readyhe instructions on the back of the box telling them to basically only put the teaniest tiniest tip of the pen in for a very small amount of product. Instead I jammed the eyebrow brush into the pot blindly but to the hilt causing the pomade to displace everywhere. My only save grace is apparently I am not only no longer able to carve my brows out like I used to as second nature using ABH products but this one has a reddish/orange undertone which isn't complementary to me personally. Otherwise if I was able to read, ruining this would have really upset me.
Some how there was an accident involving rough housing between a child and a dog. The entire Mars tank went crashing to the ground. I have lost half the water, half the sea monkeys and the little dangle astronaut has broken off and fallen to the bottom as a monument to remember to this horrible day. Seriously though, I refilled the water and added some more salt. Fingers crossed they will be okay as ai have moved them to an even safer height.
I know it says 12 months from open but I have been religious about avoiding any cross contamination inside the bottle. We have been through a lot this bottle and I. Part of me thinks it will be sliggtly more effective with the aging in bottle like a wine and the other part believes there is a chance it could melt my skin off. Thoughts? Suggestions?
I keep telling myself I am going to give my nails a moment to breathe but when you have beauties like this hiding away it makes it a tad bit hard to stop. I keep getting distracted whenever they catch the light; it is so freaking pretty. Though it feels a bit traitorous to choose to put on Avatar today over one of the Star Wars polishes instead. Eff it, I am celebrating Cinco de Mayo early, babes!
I am not a shill. I bought each one of these tubes and the backups on my own. I am not being compensated in any way for this review.
4 days in and I have been alternating doing the orange one day and the green the next. Usually clay masks are incredibly drying on me so I have to limit to once a week max but this is beyond perfect for my sensitive skin.
I have experimented either it from a thick layer I let sit for about an hour and a thin layer that dries completely in 15 minutes. I actually prefer the thick one. It is luxurious and the type of extra self care I think we could all use during these times. Even using probably twice as much as the packaging probably intended it has so much product once twisted up I can see each tube lasting multiple weeks. The orange one looks like that pink lotion I used on poison ivy growing up while I am wearing it and the tree tea oil makes me look like Beetlejuice. I wash it off with warm water, an oil based cleanser like the melon jelly and one of those face scrubbers that were everywhere at Dollar Tree around Christmas. I follow up with either the jet set routine or the glass skin set. The last two pictures are the before and after of 4 days of this mask. Make sure you put the bubble cap back on, once these dry out I don't see how you'd be able to rehydrate it without ruining the product!
The first one in the first picture. Brightening Bentonite Clay Mask= ☆☆☆☆☆ I was flabbergasted that it was so evenly applied with minimal pressure. Then after I sat for an episode then washed off with an oil based cleanser I was shocked. I followed up with the jet set dupes and I am ashamed to admit that the results were enough that I went back to the same dollar store on the same day, didn't even have the shame to go to a different one, and immediately bought backups. As well as some other random goodies because I apparently have next to no self control. Plus I had to get the right sanitizers after being tricked into buying the cucumber ones on accident. The hand soap is a repurchase but the other two items were solely based off recommendations on here!
