Do Canadian hotels have to provide recycling?

Staying at a hotel and the rooms have both recycling and garbage bins, but everything goes to trash. The recycling bins are just for appearances lol.

Don't buildings, including hotels, have to provide/participate in a recycling programme?

It's 2026 and I cannot believe this hotel doesn't recycle anything and if guests want to recycle you have to dump it in a blue bin off property.

(It's in Ontario if it differs by province)

Hotel elevators - safety

We're staying at a hotel in Canada and there are no signs in the elevator re: maximum capacity or when the elevator was last inspected.

One elevator was out of service the other day. (Apparently people were stuck inside for a bit.)

Should we be concerned? Should there be inspection/capacity signage?

How would you instinctively pronounce this name: Andrea?

I would say AnDRAYuh like the boys name 'Andre' with an 'uh' at the end.

Is "AnDREEuh" more common where you live?

ETA - For a girl

How common are gender neutral washrooms in your city?

When I was in Toronto for TIFF last year I was surprised that the main restrooms on the 2nd floor (i.e. those with multiple stalls and sinks) were not sex specific.

How common is that in Canada (in the workplace, elementary/secondary schools, community centres, etc.) that men and women, girls and boys all use the same multiple stall washroom in public places?

I'm not referring to single-occupant public washrooms, but the larger multiple stall, multiple sink restrooms.

British students: revising

Interesting UK-ism I learnt today: "revising".

In the UK would you ever say you're "studying" for an exam/test or do you always say "revising"?

Did your city host a fireworks display or any other event for Victoria Day? Please share because my city did nothing! 😄

(Maybe we'll travel next year and join your party lol)

Edit: Sounds like this is a regional (Ontario) thing. I grew up in southern Ontario and there were always fireworks on the Victoria Day long weekend...often every night lol
