My Levitite Orbital Bombardment Platform

Have you ever wanted to rain hell on someone from above? What about bombing your friends builds or the occasional village into oblivion? Have you ever wanted to play the United States in Vietnam, or do you simply want to watch the world burn?

If so, then this is the build for you!

This is my proof of concept: a fully functional, theoretically survival compatible, levitite orbital bombardment platform. Equipped with 24 heavy explosive steel deck guns, and 18 orbital napalm bombardment cannons, 2 magazines, 2 package frog port automatic restocking systems, a small lava generator, and a fully functional stabilization system, this levitite platform can autonomously float over your enemies at ANY Y level.

Unlike airships or planes, levitite is not affected by air pressure whatsoever, and if you can deal with the eye watering amount of lava required to get this thing in the air, you can rain hell on your friends and enemies from orbit so high that they likely won't be able to reach you until all that remains of your target is nothing but smoldering ashes.

Additionally, the ship as a top speed of about 75 blocks per second, which is terrible for your framerate and perfect for making a speedy and incredibly expensive getaway!

I plan on making some more economical levitite spaceships later, but for now I'm pretty satisfied with this proof of concept. I've attached a video demonstration of its capabilities to this post.

Enjoy!

Levitite Orbital Bombardment Platform Pitching Problems

I'm building a large Levitite spaceship to orbital bombard people from Y 4000 and while most things like the control system and self stabilization system are going well, the ship seems to be ambiently pitch upwards despite the Levitite force being at the center of mass as shown below.

The last slide shows the interior of the ship, where I've placed multiple layers of levitite in the back to try and get the levitite force on the center of mass. The middle band of levitite extends all the way around the interior of the ship.

Has anyone else run into this issue? How do I fix the Levitite pitching the ship upwards? I've tried counter balancing with hay in the front of the ship but it doesn't seem to be doing much. And while I did make a stabilization system that helps with the ambient pitch and roll of the ship it is very lava hungry (because propellers and other forms of thrust don't work in orbit) and for efficiency's sake it's probably much better to have the ship perfectly balanced to eliminate the need to guzzle like 8B per second lol.

Distant Horizons Slow Pregeneration

Hey guys, I'm running a world with Terralith, Tectonic, Continents, and Yung's improvements.

We're on an intel i5-6500 CPU and I've already pregenerated thousands of chunks.

I've set DH to pregen only loaded chunks, but it's taking FOREVER.

CPS got throttled at around 37 and it says it'll take 3000+ hours.

In terms of getting DH to pregenerate the LODs for the world, what needs to change? Should I remove Yung's? Is there some kind of mod library or API that's throttling Distant Horizons?

Additionally, we're running noisy and I had C2ME but it conflicted with Architectury API and I decided it was best to remove it for now. Additionally, this is a 1.21.1 Neoforge server. I understand that the CPU I have on my server is trash, but any recommendations on how I can marginally improve performance would be appreciated!

Financially and Socially doing well. Emotionally... not?

Images are of some DELICIOUS oranges me and the boys cut to pieces during an IRL fruit ninja inside-joke/hangout (yeah it was pretty fun lol. It's the simple things in life I suppose).

Content warning for suicide and existential themes.

For all intents and purposes, I will say that I am financially and socially doing alright. I have a job with decent hours, a relatively stable household, and am able to afford community college somewhere local without much trouble. In terms of lifestyle, I get outside and hike every now and again, have a decent group of fellas to hang out with biweekly, and am generally doing alright in life.

In terms of some general things about me, I am going after a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics, enjoy hiking, gaming, reading the classics, and have recently deconstructed my Mormon faith and left the church. My family situation is a little precarious, with my parents being unapproving of my religious perspective but begrudgingly respectful of my character and life choices despite our religious differences. My younger brother, however, has gotten into drinking and will be shipping off to the marines soon and is actually on a call with his girlfriend right now at 2AM and unfortunately keeping me up so I've really got nothing better to do than to sit down and vent to the internet about things while I wait for him to finally go to bed so I can get some shuteye.

Anyways, with that said, let's get down to what I'm going through...

And, well, that's the thing.

It's nothing.

I have an outwardly loving family, decent group of friends, stable job, and am doing pretty well academically. But I just don't feel anything at all. Not in a sociopathic kind of way (at least I don't think that's the case anyways), but in the sense that I just don't take joy in my life anymore. I feel trapped in this endless loop of work and sleep and short bursts of authentic enjoyment of my surroundings before I inevitably go back on autopilot for the next couple of days or weeks and forget all about it. I get up in the morning and eat breakfast and go to work and watch Youtube and I just don't feel anything at all. I smile and try to keep up the appearance that everything is alright but deep down, I feel empty. It's almost as if the monotony of my life has finally gotten to me and I've given up all hope that things will change or get better.

I've read various books (the Stoics have been a favorite of mine, although that's probably a bit too vague given their extensive history!) to try and grasp what it is to master the self and truly change, I try to work out semi-regularly or get some shock or thrill to wake me up from this stupor and it just isn't working. I've tried to change my habits, get up earlier, hit the gym harder and I just don't have that drive that I used to.

I just feel empty. Like this shell masquerading about as a fully functional human being.

I want some kind of escape from monotony of modern life. I want to get out, I want to change, I want to be better. And, unlike previous times in my life, it seems that I just can't anymore. I wake up and don't want to get out of bed, I smile at some fleeting source of joy and engagement and slump right back into that same old absence of any feeling at all.

In the end, maybe a life without something to live for is worth nothing at all. And that scares me enough to try to change, but without hope, I cannot latch on to something which motivates me enough to genuinely change my habits. So I continue this same old cycle for months on end of fleeting joy, and work and work and work until I don't feel anything at all anymore.

It's as if I want not to die, but rather to simply cease to be. To simply, not. To be nothing at all, so that I don't have to worry about my career, or society, or taxes, or where things in my life are going.

Despite all outward means of gauging, 'success,' in life being fairly positive, I have been more depressed than I have ever been in my life, and I want that to change.

AnywaysI understand that this post is more melodramatic and quite frankly, boring and all woe is me and all, but I wonder if you guys have experienced this before, and what you've done to change.

How do you escape the absence of anything at all going on in your life?

How do you tangibly change your habits?

How do you get back to a point in your life where you want to get out of bed each morning?

How do you restore life its luster?

TLDR: Despite doing well in terms of my social life and financial situation, I find myself more unhappy than I've ever been. I've fallen into this depression that I don't know if I can get out of, and it feels as if nobody in this world really gets it.

I feel like in chasing the things that are conventionally seen as, 'good,' or, 'desirable,' to men I've lost something precious, and I can't really quite put my finger on what that is.
