Good break in?

I heard I shouldn't keep steady RPM during break in, so I tried to redline it as often as possible (but I usually wait for 20-30sec after I start the engine so it can warm up properly).

Budget ventialted helmet

I bought my first dual sport bike last week which I plan to ride almost exclusively offroad. I bought a dual sport so I can get from the garage to the trail/hill/mountain/etc without a trailer and because the maintenance is much easier and cheaper. I have a very quiet and comfortable touring helmet Shoei GT Air 3 which does an amazing job on the road, but at low speed offroad trails I get quite hot even without a helmet, so I can't use the Shoei and I want to buy a second one that should be pretty much the exact opposite. I don't care about noise as I will mostly ride at 20-50kmh and very very rarely over 80. The best helmet would be a greatly ventilated one that is also safe, at least somewhat comfortable and under 300USD. If it is available in red color, it will be great, but not mandatory at all. Please share any recommendations based on your experience. Thank you in advance!

Sprocket and chain size

I see that stock is 14/40 and if I go 13/40 the ratio is basically the same as 14/43. Can anyone confirm how that affects the chain size? If I want to keep the stock chain, is it better to do a 13T front and tighten the chain just a little bit? And therefore, if I go to 41T or 42T rear, will the stock chain be too short, or can I still adjust it from the arm? I am not sure I want to go directly to 13/40, as I want to test the difference with small margins first, but if removing 1 tooth from the front is the easiest way to keep the stock chain, I will probably do that. (btw, the bike is brand new at 150km total, so I don't want to go crazy with the sprockets before I complete the break in and also get used to it).

Did you do it at 500km (300mi) or 1000km (600mi)? What was written in your manual or what did your dealer told you? I remember I've found a manual online that said the break in period is only 500km and the only suggestion was to avoid hard throttle or braking. Now I got my new CRF300L and in the book it says the first service is at 1000km

Hello! Can you provide ANY suggestions how to choose the right leather gear? On the street I am riding with Alpinestars touring gear which I am quite happy with. It provides good protection, but I basically don't feel any movement limitation, other than it being heavier than normal clothes and you can kind of feel the sliders are there. Until now I had two occasions where I purchased kevlar jeans and a leather jacket, which felt great when I tested them at the shop (moving left and right, bending forward, squatting, etc), but after a little bit of actual riding I started feeling pain here and there because in riding position for extended period of time I realized the jeans are applying pressure at the back of my knees and also creating scratches because of friction between them and my skin, while the jacket is kind of okay, but still largely limiting my movement and every time I have to change directions I have to put quite a lot more force to relocate my body on the bike. Is this expected with all leather suits? I understand there will be at least some kind of movement limitation with a full suit, but I don't want to feel like a power ranger with arthritis every time I get on the bike. I want to go to track days and I need to find a full leather suit for these occasions. Is it possible to test a full leather suit in the shop in a way that will ensure I can still be agile on the track? Thank you in advance!
