Beachcombing and Glass Floats

My wife and I are making plans for a vacation to Hokkaido sometime in the next year or so. We don't want to spend all our time in the towns and cities, and are even willing to do some camping here and there. We're from Alaska, and over the years I've beachcombed quite a collection of glass fishing floats. One of my dreams is to find one in Japan. Is there a particular area of Hokkaido I can focus my efforts for this goal? I'm not asking for anyone to reveal their beachcombing "spots", but just a general idea. For example, I'm guessing the western side of the island isn't ideal for what I'm looking for? Anything else I should keep in mind on this subject? Beach access? If I was lucky enough to find a float, do I just take a picture and move along, or can I keep it? TIA.

The Hotel

My daughter is traveling and stayed at a hotel. After she checked in she sent me this video with the caption, "my hotel is the Backrooms"...she didn't particularly like staying there. 😂

A gamble that paid off.

The guy was asking $2k for this 2006 automatic, but it wouldn't even crank over, and he said when it was parked it was in limp mode. I took a gamble and he accepted my $700 offer.

I trailered it home, put a cheap Walmart battery in it and it started right up. It was in limp mode like the guy had said. I hoped it was a weak fuel pump, so I replaced it. No difference. I parked it and it sat all winter.

A couple months ago I took it to a mechanic friend and he found that the catalytic converter was completely clogged. We gutted it and now it runs great! It will need some brake work, but that's due anyway at 217k miles.

The O2 sensor keeps the engine light on, but for the price I don't really care.

What things should I look into refreshing besides the obvious like front end and diffs? I saw online that a new radiator is a worthwhile investment.

Aim Pro Walmart Special?

I've been into slingshots since about 2015. My interest has waxed and waned over the years, but now that my kids are old enough to appreciate it, I've been diving back into it.

I've always liked the Simple Shot slingshots, and never really went in for the super expensive shooters, preferring to keep things cheap and simple. Even made a few of my own out of various materials.

I was scanning the slingshot section at Walmart the other day and it was the usual collection of wrist rockets, when my eye fell on this little thing on the bottom shelf. I'd never heard of "Aim Pro" before, but seeing anything flat band surprised me. I left without buying it.

I went back later and bought it. It's actually pretty decent for $22. It's heavy, but comfortable. It comes with a bunch of accessories, some more useful than others, but overall I'm happy with the slingshot itself.

I searched this subreddit, but couldn't find any mention of these. A few YouTube videos show them in use. Has anyone else tried these out? Surely I can't be the first to mention these here?
