Student Teaching in SPED

I am student teaching in a SPED classroom. I really like my cooperating teacher, but I'm sure, as you all know, she is very busy and is pulled out of the classroom all of the time. I feel like she hasn't been mentoring me at all! I know how to teach since I have been a para, but I really would like to know the legistics of SPED since I basically didn't learn anything in school. For example, how to write an IEP, how to run a meeting, how to take data, etc etc. I unfortunately have been googling/using AI for a lot of my questions, which I don't want to do since my mentor has over 20 years of experience.

Are there online tutors out there somewhere? Online mentors? I don't want to hold out in the hopes that I'll get a good mentor when I become a first-year teacher. The whole thing really stresses me out, especially since I have ADHD, so I have to be taught and told things multiple times.

Student Teaching

The school I currently work at is the same school I’ve worked at for the past 10 years, and I’m also doing my student teaching there. Over the summer, I applied for a teaching position at the school because, with special permission, you can have your own classroom while also completing your student teaching requirements.

Long story short, I didn’t get the job. Yesterday, another teacher told me that my supervisor had told the principal not to hire me because “I’m not ready.” And the thing is, I know that’s true. I’m actually glad I didn’t get the job because I really don’t think I’m ready to have my own classroom yet. But the more I thought about it, the more it started to hurt.

What confuses me is that my supervisor had encouraged me to apply for a teaching job at another school. If she really thought I “wasn’t ready to teach,” then why would she tell me to go get a teaching job somewhere else?
I think the hardest part is that I’ve worked at this school for so long, and I know I’ve had times where I haven’t handled things well because of my mental health. I’ve done and said things at work that I regret. So when I heard this, my brain immediately took it as, “No one here likes me. They don’t want me working at this school.”

It’s hard to hear that someone doesn’t think you’re ready to be a teacher, especially at a school you’ve worked at for 10 years and care so much about. I think it made me feel like they don’t see me as someone who could ever be a good teacher or someone they would want to keep at the school.

The school hired a person who hasn’t doing their student teaching. Why her and not me? Why do they like her and not me?

First Month

I’ve finished my first month of taking a GLP-1 and I’m discouraged. I only lost 5lbs.
I am on the lowest dose and I have Hoshimoto’s disease (my thyroid number are in the red). My doctor said we should be excited about any weight loss but I was really hoping to have lost more. This is going to take forever for me to reach my goal weight.

Future Teacher

I just looked at my loan total, and it is over $50,000. I didn't think it was anywhere close to that since I looked up the national average, and it's $36,000. I'm going to school to be a SPED teacher, so I'm freaking out.

Am I really that high above the average? How am I going to pay back this loan when I'm going to be getting a job that pays nothing?

IUD

I have mental health issues for a baseline but the week before and the week of my period I go more crazy than normal. Constant crying, feeling suicidal and angry. Birth control hasn't helped because I can't be consistent with it and when I try to skip my period I still get it. Would an IUD help? The lows I experience around my period are so hard!

GLP-1 and Anxiety

My endocrinologist has given me the green light for starting a GLP-1. My blood work is still not great so I’m having a lot of fatigue. I also have extreme anxiety. Being sick causes a ton of anxiety for me. Is the GLP-1 worth it? I’m really scared of being sick but I also hate that no matter what I do I can’t loose weight. Every time I turn around I’ve gained 10lbs.

Black specks

My cat very recently has gotten these black specks all over her back. Every time I brush her or scratch her with my nails they come off. They feel like they are attached to root of her fur. When I try to look at her skin I don’t see anything. They don’t look like fleas but I also don’t know what I’m looking for so idk
