is padded sleeve the best way to protect our beloved ereaders?

I can’t get over how featherlight my naked Kindle Basic feels in my hand during long reading sessions. I really don’t want to use a folio or clear TPU case, even though I’ve tried hard to like them. I’m thinking of just going with a naked Kindle and a sleeve, but I feel like I’d be making a huge trade-off between protection and comfort.

How is Koreader so much faster on Kindles than the native Kindle interface?

It wakes up the Kindle way faster, turns pages in a flash, doesn't drain the battery indexing books in the background, and offers endless customization.

What's the secret behind all of that?

what happens to a jailbroken Kindle after factory reset? should we worry?

will it remove the jailbreak and go back to stock? i'm not sure if jailbreak was the right choice to me but due to FOMO i still did it. it doesn't bother me much because i use the stock kindle reader so in case i ever forget it was jailbroken and do a factory reset.

someone here mentioned to never do factory reset on a jailbroken Kindle so why is that?

don't get me wrong i still support people who jailbreak their devices because koreader can easily be installed on majority of e-ink readers, it's just amazon that's not allowing such thing to keep you inside their ecosystem which really doesn't make a lot of sense all things considered.

Why I cannot adjust font size in dictionary pop-up on Kindle? It's not a good experience.

Is it just me, or is reading dictionary definitions on Kindle a total pain? I’m so tired of squinting at that tiny popup text every single time I look up a word. Having to tap "Open Dictionary" just to read it clearly is way too slow and ruins the reading flow. I really wish Amazon would let us customize that popup text size.

How do you read on Kindle Basic at night?

A lot of us only have the standard Kindle Basic, which means we miss out on the cozy amber warm light feature found on the Paperwhite or Oasis.

For those of you who use the Basic to read in a pitch-black room before sleep:

  1. Does the cool light actually strain your eyes or keep you awake? Or is the front-lit e-ink screen still gentle enough for you?
  2. What are your go-to settings? Do you just slam the brightness down to 1 or 2, or do you rely heavily on Dark Mode?
  3. Any hacks? Do you use blue-light glasses, a dim bedside lamp, or just raw-dog the cool light?

Curious to hear how you all handle nighttime reading on the basic model.

Will we get to jailbreak the latest Kindle firmware?

I really want to jailbreak my Kindle Basic 2024 but I can't because I turned on the Wi-Fi and I didn't know that native Kindle UI will be so restrictive. I thought it will be okay not to jailbreak but KoReader is just too good on Kindles. It's the ultimate ereader experience. 💔

Is Kobo Clara BW better than Kindle Basic 2024 ereader?

Hey everyone!

Can anyone who owns both of these devices make a comparison? I’m specifically curious about the screen contrast, the build quality and software experience.

Thank you.

I bought Kindle Basic and regret it.

As my first e-reader, I really thought I’d be fine using Dark Mode for night reading. Boy, was I wrong. I didn't realize before buying that Dark Mode causes so much ghosting, which makes the screen flash constantly to clear it. It's super distracting. Warm light is a MUST for night reading.

The Basic is incredibly light and portable, but that's about it. The Paperwhite is just better in every other way. I cannot wait to get a Paperwhite.
