I was also suspended by Purdue after a mental health crisis, just like the international student who was just suspended.

Many of you have recently seen the post made by an international student (Double-Poetry-1621) who went to CAPS and was suspended by Purdue.

Like them, I was also in the same exact situation. This was not the first time Purdue did this to disabled students.

I had a mental health crisis after recently transferring schools to Purdue. I am on the spectrum, and sometimes environment changes are difficult to adjust to. I was still getting adjusted to the environment at Purdue where I had a negative interaction after a comic con, and I went and called the hotline to vent my thoughts. I was placed under a psych hold at one of the facilities in Lafayette and was promptly suspended by Purdue for a year. I tried making my case to ODOS but they held up my suspension. Ever since then, I felt demoralized, alone, isolated, shunned. Thrown out of society. I still struggle with severe PTSD from what Purdue has done.

This is not the first time Purdue has done this.

I know a kid from Europe who was struggling with his mental health and was freaking out over a homework assignment. He was honest towards ODOS and OSRR. He too got suspended after a crisis.

Purdue has done this countless times. The international student's case this year is just the latest example of this. I feel the need to share because Purdue has been complicit towards the discrimination towards disabled folk for so long. From Purdue kicking out disabled students from housing in 2024, to my case, to the European kid's case, and now, to Poetry's.

THIS. NEEDS. TO. STOP. PURDUE NEEDS TO RECOGNIZE THAT DISABLED STUDENTS ARE AND WILL ALWAYS BE HERE.

Should I switch majors to CS?

Wondering if i should. I am majoring in aviation right now but I am struggling because of the social interactions required for jobs within this field. Its very communication heavy and I am struggling with interviews. I used to do CS and loved it, but burnt out because of the workload of homework and internship finding. I am now thinking that I gave up too easily on CS, plus I heard that theyre one of the most accommodating fields for autistic people. My friends said im more of a techy person than a plane guy.

Give me 100 reasons why I shouldn't give up.

I am going to a prestigious university but for a worthless degree, because its my "passion".

I dont know if I want to continue.

My internship search is leading me nowhere, and I got written up twice at my job, and I have no way shape or form that I will get positive recommendations from my supervisors now.

I have crazy Asian parents who get mad at the tiniest shit alive.

I have a sister who's even more emotionally abusive than my parents.

My dad is unemployed and complains im a burden on him.

I see all my friends who graduated on time with a engineering degree making $100k+ a year.

I had an autistic meltdown in 2023 which my school told me to take a year off after learning of this. And put it in my permanent record.

I dont have any friends who care about me. The few who do don't care about my problems enough or don't understand.

I dont know if any of this is worth it anymore.

I have a mentor who has gone through similar stuff, but i dont know if I can take his positive mindset anymore. It seems so therapy brained I cant take the therapy speak.

I want to abandon everyone and live in a log cabin. Far away from everyone else. Either that or I want to die.

I dont know if life is worth it anymore.
