Renault 5 vs Cupra Raval for London day to day + some road trips and camping

Leasing a car under the company electric car scheme, went for a Renault 5. The car will 95% be used in towns for day to day stuff, excluding commuting to work. I will also do some road trips to the common areas, as well as some camping and would like to put a bike rack up.

My order hasn’t arrived yet as there have been delays. I went for the Roland Garros primarily because I didn’t want yellow seats.

Seeing the reviews on the Cupra Raval im starting to regret getting the Renault. In almost every metric, the Raval fits me more. I loved the VE GTI, and have a feeling this will drive the same way.

The Cupra for me looks better both inside and outside. The battery is slightly better and the boot is bigger. I plan on doing some camping so a bigger boot is very handy.

There is no fee for cancelling the order and I can order the Raval instead, which I understand is in stock so there wont be a lot of delays. Might have to wait a month more, but seeing it will be my day to day car for at least the next 3 years or so, its worth the wait?

Can anyone thats driven both share some insight? I think i’ll cancel and give both a test drive. Not sure why I didnt just do this

Renault 5 vs Cupra Raval. To cancel R5 order or not worth it?

Regretting the Renault 5 and considering the Cupra Raval

All i have to pay is a cancellation fee (EDIT: no cancellation fee) and can order the Raval instead, which I understand is in stock so there wont be a lot of delays. Might have to wait a month more, but seeing it will be my day to day car for at least the next 3 years or so, its worth the £250 cancellation fee (Edit: no cancellation fee)

I’m in that phase (which I’m sure many have been through) I want to do it but overwhelmed by the options and have no idea where to start looking. What 5 items is a must on your gear list and what would be your top 3 spots for beginners?

I have two things I want to do, camp outdoors for two nights minimum and take my bike out to some nice gravel trails.

I was waiting for my car to be delivered but it has now been delayed till end of the August. Which probably means I would have missed out on the summer camping but hoping September and October are still doable.

Now, I have 0 experience (apart from survival shows and various camping YouTubers) and 0 gear (except for a bike and soon a car).

What are your top 5 gear recommendations and what spots that are 2-3 hours drive from London would you recommend? Possibly longer if needed, but I will be driving an EV.

Is September a good time to start or should I wait till spring?

I have 30 mins before my flight to load up a book my kindle - suggest me a feel good adventure or coming of age book. Bonus points if it has some philosophy intertwined

I enjoyed Pslams of A Wild Built. Reading Long Way to a small angry planet now (will probably finish it half way through the flight!)

I like Becky Chambers but I’m not really relating to the characters as much. But that kind of vibe is what im looking for, preferably by someone other than Becky Chambers

Self - Analysis Video with Voiceover, feedback on format, delivery and technical commentary

So I have a new partner for some amateur league. I have maybe 2 years of experience in Padel and my partner is somewhat new.

I’m not looking to coach him but he has asked for feedback on stuff and appreciates it. So while this isn’t unsolicited, I still want to make sure:

A) i’m saying the right things. So my technical comments are correct, relevant and helpful. These are things I learned from classes I have attended and watching (an unhealthy amount) padel videos. I tried to focus on a basic stuff, for example positioning, tactics as a pair. Rather than technique because as you can see, my technique isn’t the best so I can’t really give feedback on that.

B) is my delivery constructive and easy to understand and follow? My partner has years of rackets sport experience coming from Squash and will no doubt be a better player after a couple coaching sessions (with an actual padel coach)

C) is the format with the pausing and drawings a good way of demonstrating many of aspects to think about and work on? I have tried to only highlight one or two things that he hasn’t brought up in discussions before (e.g. racket being down, he knows this and has mentioned he’s working on it already).

[Highlights] Update post. Played against higher level than I would normally, I can keep up but not yet strong enough to win these matches. What should I work on?

This video is the longer rallies, not sure what level this is but it’s the level I’m playing at now. It’s nice to have longer rallies but there’s more I can do to win these match ups.
