The $360M Guidance

So not only has Wagner moved up the H1 earnings call to Sept 1 vs Oct 1 last year…which almost has to be bullish. But…

He has relentlessly reconfirmed the full year $360m revenue guidance. Here’s the deal. What possible motivation would he have to guide to $360m if that’s not going to happen? In March we’re going to know one way or another and he’s absolutely without credibility if it’s a big miss. The stock would tank. Rightly so.

It’s not like he’s going to exit his position in the meantime. He can’t sell a single share without killing his “undervalued…buyback” rationale.

And here’s the capper. We’re 2/3s of the way through the year. Wagner KNOWS with high certainty the full year 2026 revenue within a small range at this point. Contracts are signed. Onboarding in progress. If not, the number wouldn’t be achievable. You don’t recognize revenue based on signing a contract. You have to onboard and deliver services this year.

Not investment advice. But my money is where my mouth is. I just increased to 25k shares. Holding until at least March. The current price cannot reasonably hold if $360m prints.

Why September 1?

H1 2025 earnings were announced Oct 1.

I can’t imagine a scenario where the company voluntarily moves the 2026 H1 announcement up a full month to release bad news. Just not a thing.

Went To A Memorial Today

She was a wonderful neighbor. We talked almost daily about kids, grandkids and, potentially awkwardly, about all the exotic travels my wife and I have enjoyed non-stop in the seven years since retiring at 51/55.

She never seemed at all envious and never complained that her life was much more restrictive, in part because she was leading a multi-generational household and raising one of her grandchildren and housing another along with their daughter. Also in part because though she was retired her husband wasn’t yet. But still she wanted to know all about our trips.

In the last year or so she started to share that her husband was nearing retirement and they looked forward to finally doing the travel they’d put off.

She died in her sleep with absolutely no warning in her early 60s within a few weeks of her husband’s retirement. Before any of those bucket list trips.

I’ve seen these sorts of reminders here before. But this one struck close to home. Two doors down the street in fact.

It’s a balancing act.

Fun piece

We’ve been decorating our summer lake camp sitting area Tiki and I was excited to add this bad boy today!

AI (believe me I know not entirely reliable) consensus between Claude and Gemini is Palm Wood and older. (Seller said he had it for 25 years and wasn’t first owner.)

It’s 20” tall and weighs 16 pounds.

Anyone have anything to add about its likely history? I love it and paid $80 which means it doesn’t have to be truly collectable to be well worth it to me.

Fires = Reminder. Check Your Homeowners Insurance

Our new insurance company did a walk through inspection a couple months back to confirm required coverage for rebuild. It came back about 133% of the home’s current value!! And the reality is if we get an event that burns 100s of homes the contractors are going to be busy and costs will go even higher. We ended up selecting coverage (including escalator) almost double our home’s current value.

Just a heads up that it’s on you to make sure your coverage is adequate. You can’t rely on the insurance company to do it. In fact in some cases they might be reluctant to increase coverage to necessary amounts and you may have to shop for a new policy.

Also the additional coverage often adds fairly little to the bill.

Hope everyone is doing ok after that scary day yesterday and condolences to those who lost their homes. (Not sure how many…)

Cheapest Buzz In Spokane?

We've posted about best Happy Hours here a few times in the past years. (Probably need another one of those soon!)... We often rate a great HH primarily on good food values. But how about those times you're looking to go out with a few bucks in your pocket and just looking for the best value for getting a little buzz on?

What made me think about this was my wife's and my first visit to Dry Fly for their Happy Hour yesterday. We got freekin' buzzed on a total of $18 of drinks. Two $5 Old Fashioneds that had to be at least doubles. And two pints of Huckleberry Vodka spritzer that was 9% ABV for $4. That's basically a half bottle of wine equivalent for 4 bucks. (We didn't finish the second one.)

Whatcha got that competes with that? We're Happy Hour aficionados and can't think of anything close.

By the way, we took those buzzes to Spokane Civic's "Jagged Little Pill" and it was REALLY good. Lots of talent in Spokane and a good show.

It Turns Out You're Doing Great Financially

In fact you have a LOT more money after all the inflation!

Kevin Hassert, Director White House Economic Council: "if they look at their wallets and look at how much money they have after, you know, the increase in prices, they’re going to find that they have a lot more money.”

How long until we hear the exact same doublespeak from Bumgartner? 3, 2....

PSA: Your ACA Bronze Plan Is HSA Eligible

Since a lot of us retired folks are using ACA as a bridge to Medicare, just an FYI that this is the first year that all Bronze ACA plans are HSA eligible. Not tax advice but I can’t really imagine any reason someone with a bronze ACA plan wouldn’t benefit from an HSA. It’s pre tax in and tax free out if used for medical expenses. And if you don’t use it tax free for medical it essentially functions as a 401k after age 65, taxed normally without penalty. Do your own research. Not tax advice.

Edit: Also funding the HSA is an “above the line” deduction…so no adverse effect on MAGI planning if you need to fund from IRA. Reduces MAGI if funded from after-tax cash on hand.
