I thought the Glucose Drink tastes nice

Or at least, not that bad. It wasn't as bad as I remembered with my first pregnancy.

Later I realized I had taken a zinc lozenge to fight a cold and my taste buds were suppressed and whack. So if you want to try and diminish the nasty taste of the glucose drink, have a zinc lozenge in the morning. You won't be able to taste anything properly so it will go down easy.

The Glucose Drink has nothing on the pre-ER Laxative drink

I can’t believe pregnant people complain about the glucose drink for GD. Compared to that nasty magnesium laxative I had to drink before my egg retrievals, the glucose drink is almost nice tasting.

Climbing During Pregnancy is Safer Than Previously Thought

How timely is this?

Margie Davenport released new research looking at nearly 700 pregnancies who climbed during pregnancy. 166,000 hours of climbing was logged and 133 falls reported. There were .03 adverse events per 1000 hours of climbing and all babies were born healthy. There was no significant difference in pregnancy outcomes between mothers who stopped climbing at 27 weeks vs mothers who continued to climb. Third trimester climbing does not increase complications. Climberes who continued in their 3rd trimester were 7x more likely to return to climbing within six months postpartum.

Can't wait for the skiing/snowboarding study results!

"We've found lead drapes are not effective"

Is it commonly understood that lead aprons are not necessary for dental x-ray?

I was about to have a filling and the tech was preparing me mouth for X-rays. I asked if I could have a lead apron. She said they've found the lead drapes aren't effective so they don't use them anymore. This is news to me. I am 7 months pregnant.

I told her "Ok, well I'm 7 months pregnant and I would like to have a lead apron." and she said "Oh! I didn't know! I will get you one." I now realize there was nothing provided for my neck to cover my thyroid.

After the x-ray she said "If you're 7 months pregnant the dentist may not want to do your fillings today. I will ask him." Why didn't she ask before the x-rays? He declined working on my teeth and said I should see him after the baby arrives. He didn't feel comfortable working with someone in their third trimester. The work had been scheduled for my second trimester but the dentist had to cancel that appointment for a personal emergency.

(This all reminds me of a malpractice case I read. A radiology tech had not asked the patient if she might be pregnant or had her take a pregnancy test. The patient had a CT of her pelvis where it became evident that the patient was pregnant.)

How much socialization for 7 yo?

We have three activities a week including soccer (practice, game) and gymnastics.

He had a best friend who moved away last summer and it's been a little hard. We meet up with friends 3x a week in addition to our classes.

How often are other homeschoolers meeting friends? I swear a lot of the homeschooling families I know only socialize with us and that brings them out only once a week.

Cute Bump Tees?

I want just one cute tee to wear until I deliver. Otherwise I can rock my normal clothes and people can continue to not notice I'm expecting. Any suggestions? Seriously had to tell the dentist a few days ago "I'm 7 months pregnant, please could you get a lead apron?"

Graduation Announcement Received

My partner has a friend from college that he speaks to a few times a year. Last week we received a high school graduation announcement for his friend's son. We see him maybe once every five years.

I feel obliged to send a graduation card and cash but I'm not sure how much to send. What is expected? I also find it odd as we didn't receive announcements for his older sisters when they graduated high school. We also haven't received announcements for any of his other friends' children. It's a bit odd to me but if this is their version of a GoFundme so be it I guess?

I have some severe trepidation around this bassinet after a parent posted a warning on the company 6 months or so ago. The post is archived. Does anyone here have warnings or endorsements for cradlewise? I am due in August. I’m a little PO’d that you can only save money on this bassinet if you order far far in advance. It feels predatory.

It’s almost like I’ve never been this fit before and it gets better every week. If it wasn’t for the bump I might actually be fast.
