BCBS NM makes it very difficult to submit a claim

I feel like BCBS makes it difficult for members to submit claims for out-of-network providers. Does anyone else feel like asking the State AG to investigate? They need you to print out a form, sign it and scan it back. That is very cumbersome if you don't have access to a printer.

Do you feel betrayed when your OAD friend has a second baby?

I'm just curious if you would cut ties with a family that had a second child or generally feel like you cannot relate as well.

Help with stabbing pain

I might have overdone my scar massage yesterday because last night I had stabbing pain around my incision as well as anytime I tried to pull my body up from lying down to sitting up. Is it possible I shouldn’t have massages so hard? I’m 5 weeks post section and I’m wearing the binder today to make it bearable.

Maxi Cosi Rocker and Travel Crib/Pack n Play

Who has bought this and can give me their opinion? It's much less expensive than Nuna and Baby Bjorn. I had Nuna for the first baby but I gave my Sena away some years ago. I have this Crate and Barrel credit and Maxi Cosi items are on sale.

Thanks!

Owlet shipped me a faulty sock and refuses to provide full refund

Warning re: Owlet

I bought the Owlet dream duo and the base never worked. It was glitchy and blinked and no amount of troubleshooting could resolve the issue. I am trying to return it and they are saying there will be a restocking fee charged.

Their support is a nightmare. They keep saying they will escalate and email me a response and they never follow up.

I bought a Eufy sock from Babylist and it set up in 5 minutes. It's a breeze.

Arizona EVA Size Change

I have a pair of 37s from 2019 that are silver. They are falling apart now and I want to get a replacement pair. Do I go with 37s or the next size up? It seems the sizing changed since 2019. I also don't think I have a narrow size but now it seems the EVA only comes in narrow. Thanks!

Went To A Memorial Today

She was a wonderful neighbor. We talked almost daily about kids, grandkids and, potentially awkwardly, about all the exotic travels my wife and I have enjoyed non-stop in the seven years since retiring at 51/55.

She never seemed at all envious and never complained that her life was much more restrictive, in part because she was leading a multi-generational household and raising one of her grandchildren and housing another along with their daughter. Also in part because though she was retired her husband wasn’t yet. But still she wanted to know all about our trips.

In the last year or so she started to share that her husband was nearing retirement and they looked forward to finally doing the travel they’d put off.

She died in her sleep with absolutely no warning in her early 60s within a few weeks of her husband’s retirement. Before any of those bucket list trips.

I’ve seen these sorts of reminders here before. But this one struck close to home. Two doors down the street in fact.

It’s a balancing act.

Sore glutes 1 week post c section

Anyone else have really sore glutes after c section? I’m 9 days out and I’m walking 10k steps a day to get back and forth from NICU to my stay at Ronald McDonald. Is this causing sore glutes or is it some sort of compensating of my core? My glutes feel like I hiked something real steep. I’m so confused! Obviously I am not hiking anything right now.

Cheap car seat for 4 lbs

Please help - The one I wanted won’t be here in time. Is there a cheap version I can grab from Walmart for our drive home?

Thank you. 🙏 I feel like they never inform me much at this NICU.

My baby came so early! PPROM

My water broke early at 34w. I decided to use expectant management which meant I was monitored in a hospital daily while the baby cooked. I just wanted to avoid NICU. This was a DE embryo Day 6 4BB untested.

I wanted to keep him inside as long as possible but I only kept him in until 35w. I really enjoyed being pregnant and I didn’t have PPROM on my bingo card but here we are. The baby is earthside now and slowly improving in NICU. He is so precious and looks perfect. Good luck to everyone! I cried the night he was born and I still cry because of all the work it took to get here. It feels like every failed IVF effort was part of this pregnancy experience.

One thing the lactation consultant said to me was that IVF parents have a harder time making breast milk. I said why is that? Oh she says all the hormones are wrong and that’s why they needed IVF in the first place. And of course it infuriated me and I said “I just needed IVF because I’m old. My hormones are fine, I never heard of this before and I’m in a lot of IVF support groups.” Didn’t that light my fire because I manifested and brought my milk in the next morning and have been pumping heaps as well as feeding my newborn NICU baby. And guess what lady, he has a strong latch!!

How to bring milk in?

My little guy has a great suck but they are restricting my access to him and it’s so frustrating. I am pumping every 2-3 hours and my milk isn’t coming in. I’m thinking of asking my partner to bring me oatmeal or some kind of lactation cookie. Maybe some electrolytes? I feel like I am drinking so much water already. I’m definitely resenting my scalp-happy OB right now because I’m constantly being denied access to my newborn.

Give me you best C-section recovery tips!

We had to pivot to emergency C-section but I am wondering what I can do to help with recovery. I’m planning to wrap my belly. I know I’m going to keloid and I don’t care about the scar but I’m just wondering if there any tips out there you wish you had known when you had your C-section. I’m trying to focus on something actionable vs all the sadness of missing seeing baby born. I don’t know why I didn’t speak up but I was on so many drugs. Now I wish I had a video of the surgery as it would have been so cool to see!!

PPROM made it to 35w so far

My hunger exploded in the hospital. I think it was the steroid shots. I haven’t been hungry all pregnancy and suddenly I ate everything on my tray and then asked for more. Insane! My baby is 4 lbs 10 oz I’m just trying to keep this baby inside and cook. Thanks to everyone who commented on my last post because it really helped me get through a very anxious time. Currently I’m the most uncomfortable I’ve been this whole pregnancy so I think I might be having early labor. I wish I could stop it!

How is everyone doing for workouts today? Anyone following Western States? I feel sympatico with trail runners today because I occasionally have the worse intestinal cramping and have considered just living on the toilet this morning.

PPROM 34w

Anyone relate? I’m sitting in L&D waiting to get seen for PPROM. I’m so bummed. I had a planned fartlek workout for this morning and I have enjoyed being pregnant. I don’t even feel pregnant except when the baby moves, which I love feeling! I know this is going to be my last pregnancy and it makes me sad to think it’s nearly over now. There looks to be a small chance this leak resolves and I continue on but I think my pregnant runs are over. 😫

Weight Gain

Has anyone had their doctor (or midwife) ask them about their weight gain? Technically I’ve gained 7 lbs. I’m 33 weeks. The baby is 30% and doing well. Don’t they see that I started the pregnancy heavy?

People are too judgemental about other peoples kids screen time on the internet

It’s something I see constantly and in the most extreme way and it’s becoming ridiculous. Just the other day I saw someone say they wouldn’t allow themselves to watch tv if their newborn was nursing and napping cause it can still affect their brain. Im sorry but WHERE are they getting this? I keep seeing that it’s from the AAP but not once has my son’s pediatrician asked about screen time. I’m not saying to put them in front of a tv or tablet 24/7 but it feels like there’s no nuance with this topic in many parenting spaces and you’re automatically seen as a bad parent if you dare let you kid have any screen time before the age of like, 5. And that’s just not real life. Like my kid has the kids Amazon tablet and we watch tv and he still independently plays, goes outside, goes to pre school and is crazy smart for his age with stellar communication skills and mood regulation. But like I have a full time job and sometimes need him to not destroy the house I’ve just cleaned for the nanny while I get ready so yeah he gets screen time and I don’t feel bad about it. I’m just really tired of the judgement and I hope some of you ladies can relate. Thanks for letting me vent!

Coming Back from IVF Hell at 46

I had my first ultrasound to confirm placement 12/8 and even saw a FHR >122 at 5w5d. I’m celebrating now because I couldn’t celebrate then. IYKYK! Consistent training after graduating my IVF Clinic and I’m back to Superior VO2 Max at 32 weeks. I finally feel like myself again after IVF. 🙏 thanks to Maggie Davenport and her amazing research I am getting my fitness back!
