Snape is a worse teacher than he is a bully and the Half Blood Prince book proves it

I keep seeing people defend Snape as a good teacher just because he knows a lot about potions. Nah. He is actually terrible at teaching and the Half Blood Prince book makes it super obvious.

In Half Blood Prince we get Snape’s old textbook and he has rewritten a bunch of the recipes to make them way easier and better. Harry who never cared about potions suddenly does better than Hermione who has been top of the class for years just by following those notes. So Snape clearly understands the subject on a deeper level than the actual textbooks.

But when he is teaching? He walks in, writes the basic book instructions on the board, and tells everyone to get on with it. No explaining why anything works. No tips. No helping when people struggle. Nothing. If he used even a fraction of the simplified methods from his old book the whole class would have done better. We know he never did that because Hermione reads every textbook cover to cover before term starts. She would have noticed if Snape’s board instructions were different and easier. She never says anything about it across all those years.

Instead of teaching he just bullies. Neville messes up one step and Snape threatens to poison his toad. That is not teaching. That is just being an asshole. Students are supposed to make mistakes while learning. Why does he act like everyone should already be perfect the second they walk in?

Honestly what is even the point of his classes? Anyone can sit in the common room and follow the book. A teacher is supposed to explain things, correct mistakes, and make the subject clearer. Snape does the opposite. He has the knowledge but refuses to share the good versions and would rather mock people than help them. Knowledgeable does not equal good teacher.

People comparing Superman to Brand New Day are being ridiculous

People are already throwing Brand New Day’s opening numbers at Superman which comparison makes zero sense.

Brand New Day is the fourth Tom Holland Spider-Man movie. It’s got nearly a decade of MCU goodwill behind it, huge star power, and the leftover heat from No Way Home. Of course it’s opening like a monster. That’s what a fully established, culturally dominant franchise does.

Superman was the first film of a brand new DCU. First properly comic-accurate Superman movie in over a decade, trying to launch an entire shared universe after years of baggage and audience fatigue. And it still pulled around $620 million in a much colder climate for superhero movies.

A fairer comparison was always Homecoming. That one made about $881 million at the absolute peak of the superhero boom, and it even had Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man showing up with solid screen time (around 10 minutes) and heavy promotion. Despite all that built-in help, it only made roughly $200-260 million more than Superman did years later when the genre was already tired.

First movies that restart a universe almost never match the later event-level numbers. Context actually matters.

In Endgame (2019), Strange points up, clearly signaling Tony to fly towards the sky with the stones and out of Thanos' reach. But Tony has to be the big hero and snaps anyway, ending up dying. Classic Stark..

The Odyssey

I'm looking for the best movie theater experience in Kathmandu.

I'm mainly looking for a cinema with:

  • Excellent sound quality
  • A large, high-quality screen
  • Motion/vibrating seats during action scenes (similar to FCube's Cube 3)

Does anyone know of any theaters in Kathmandu that offer a similar or even better experience?

In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001), Professor Quirrell has Voldemort’s face on the back of his head. That means every single time Quirrell took a dump, Voldemort was getting the hot, fresh smell blasting directly up his nose. No wonder the guy was so evil.

Why doesn’t Galactus just shrink down when he’s hungry?

I don’t know a ton about Galactus beyond the basics that he’s a giant cosmic guy who eats planets, has the Power Cosmic, fights the Fantastic Four, etc. I’ve got a question that might be dumb, but it feels logical to me.

Since he can change his size at will (I’ve seen that he can get huge or apparently smaller), why doesn’t he just shrink to human-sized (or even smaller) when he needs energy? Wouldn’t a much smaller body need way less energy to sustain itself? Like how a mouse needs way fewer calories than an elephant?

If one planet gives him enough energy for a month or so, a tiny version of himself should only need a small fraction of that, maybe a city’s worth of energy, or even less. He doesn’t seem like a purely evil guy; he has some sense of honor and regret in the stories I’ve read. So why not do that and avoid destroying entire worlds (and the civilizations on them)?

Also, since he gets full after eating a planet (and gets hungry again later), and the size/quality of the planet seems to matter for how satisfied he is, doesn’t that imply he has some kind of "default" energy requirement tied to a certain body size? If his needs scaled perfectly with how small he makes himself, shrinking should solve the problem, right?

Is there an in-universe explanation I’m missing? Or is it one of those “because the story needs him to eat planets” things?

Ronaldo Completely Crumbled at the End of His Career , A Selfish Fraud Who Never Cared About Portugal

Ronaldo’s post-match interview after Portugal got knocked out yesterday was the final nail in the coffin. Instead of showing any respect for his teammates who actually gave everything on the pitch, he basically shrugged off the World Cup like it was some 6-7 game side quest. “Euro is at a similar level,” he said, or whatever nonsense to downplay it. Millions of Portuguese fans waited their whole lives for him to finally deliver that trophy in what was supposed to be his last dance, and he’s out here pretending it’s “not his dream” and acting like it doesn’t matter. What a joke. He never played for the country. He played for his own legacy and stats.

That’s exactly why his own teammates didn’t even bother consoling him. They knew the truth. When Luka Modrić got eliminated, the entire Croatia squad surrounded him like family. When Neymar went out, Brazil players rushed over immediately. But Ronaldo? He walks off the pitch and it’s the Spain players embracing him first. Portugal’s squad just let him go. No unity, no desperation to stand by their captain. Speaks volumes.

All these years of him supposedly “carrying” Portugal, and he couldn’t even earn basic respect from his own teammates. Meanwhile, watch Argentina, those players would run through brick walls for Messi. When he scores, they celebrate like they scored. That’s real leadership and love for the badge.

Ronaldo? Obsessed with padding his numbers. Tap-ins, penalties, pointless walkabouts , he’ll chase that shit even if it costs the team the match. At 41, he doesn’t run, doesn’t press, can’t dribble past a single defender, can’t shoot anymore, offers nothing but a slow statue wandering around disrupting attacks. Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, João Neves , these generational talents busting their asses just to get dragged down by his massive ego. He refuses to sit on the bench where he belongs because his narcissism won’t allow it. Full 90 minutes doing absolutely fuck all, like a lost grandpa.

Luka Modrić is 40 and still dictating games, running circles around opponents and fighting for Croatia. Ronaldo gives you sulking, stat-chasing, and team cancer. His deluded cultists keep screaming “He’s 41!” Yeah, no shit, that’s the entire problem. Who the fuck is forcing this washed-up has-been to hog the spotlight when he’s a walking liability?

This guy is the ultimate fraud. Insecure, disrespectful, and pathetic. He disrespected his country, his fans, and his teammates till the bitter end. Portugal could’ve had something special, but Ronaldo’s self-obsession cost them everything. Thank God I picked Messi years ago, a humble winner who actually elevates everyone around him instead of this narcissistic circus.

Prove me wrong, Penaldog fans. I’ll wait.

Ronaldo and him being 41 years old

Why the fuck are these Penaldog cultists still making excuses for Ronaldo? "He's 41!" No shit, Sherlock, that's exactly the problem, you braindead simps. Who the hell is forcing this washed-up has-been to hog the spotlight at 41 when he can barely jog, let alone run, press, pass, shoot, dribble, or defend like a professional? He's a liability in a Portugal shirt now, a walking statue who slows down every attack.

Bruno Fernandes, Nuno Mendes, Bernardo Silva, Diogo Costa, Vitinha, João Neves, these are generational talents carrying the team on their backs, only to get dragged down and eliminated because Ronaldo's massive ego won't let him sit on the bench like he should. All he cares about is padding his personal stats. Tap-ins, penalties, pointless walkabouts, he'll chase them even if it costs the team the match. Full 90 against Spain doing absolutely nothing, wandering the pitch like a lost grandpa causing to get Portugal knocked out.

Luka Modrić is 40 and still runs circles around opponents, dictating games and fighting for Croatia but Ronaldo offers nothing but sulking, stat-chasing, and team disruption at this point. His deluded fans are the worst, blindly defending this narcissistic circus while ignoring how he's sabotaging a golden generation that could actually win something without him.

I come in peace!

let's all laugh at Portugal and Ronaldo

literally the worst player in the field, can't run, can't pass, can't dribble, can't shoot, can't press, stands like a statue the whole game. and portugal coach can't even sub Ronaldo and instead subs important players like Felix. hahahah totally deserved this loss.

never ever compare this fraud of a penaldo to Messi ever again

what is Ronaldo even doing on the pitch?

can't dribble, can't pass properly, can't shoot properly, can't press, can't run. all he does is stay at one place, waiting for the ball, literally dragging and slowing down the team.

it's crazy, is the coach blind that he can't see all this? does Ronaldo holds this much power over the team that even the coach is afraid to sub him off? is Ronaldo more of a dictator than our almighty Mbapee?

MCU Odin has basically zero on-screen feats but is heavily wanked

"Thanos was scared of him and only made his move after Odin died." that's what the majority of MCU fans have been saying since infinity war.

the on-screen feats Odin has to back up this claim is literally 0.

in Thor: The Dark World, enemies literally invade Asgard, kill his wife in his own palace, and he does... nothing. he is an old, grieving king who looks completely powerless, no big battle, no Odinforce showcase, no soloing threats at all.

but half the fandom treats him like a universal+ god who would smoke Thanos no problem. that "Thanos feared Odin" thing is 100% fan theory with zero confirmation in the movies. It's all built on implications and "he was in his prime back then."

compare that to the new Thunderbolts movie. we hear saying Sentry is more powerful than all the Avengers combined and 90% of the same fans immediately go "it's just talk," "doesn't mean anything," "we need to see feats," and brush it aside for scaling debates.

But Odin have Zero feats to back up the legends but people are still like 'Prime Odin stomps' when in reality he has been shown very weak.

MCU Odin is cool as a character but let's stop pretending he's this untouchable powerhouse based on off-screen myths while we demand actual fight scenes from everyone else. i think this hypocrisy is wild.

anyone else feel same?

The Prince's Tale Proves Snape Loved Lily. Why Do People Desperately Try to Deny It?

Just saw yet another post in here claiming that The Prince's Tale "debunks" Snape being in love with Lily, calling it nothing more than a bad friendship and poor communication. This take keeps popping up and it's honestly wild every single time.

Let's be real for a second. The entire Harry Potter series revolves around one core truth that Dumbledore says over and over (love is the most powerful force in the world, stronger than any magic) Lily's sacrificial love is literally what saved Harry and defeated Voldemort. It's the central theme of the books. And right at the heart of that theme is Severus Snape.

Snape grew up in a broken, abusive home. He had no real friends, no support, nothing good in his life, until Lily. She was the one bright spot, the only person who ever made him feel seen. Their friendship started innocently as kids, with him excitedly teaching her about the wizarding world. But as they got older, you see how unbalanced it became. He was a damaged, angry half-blood kid who put her on a pedestal, while she was outgrowing him and heading toward a brighter path.

The chapter shows the painful reality: their growing arguments, the Marauders' bullying, Snape heading down the dark path with his Slytherin friends, and that final devastating moment where he lashes out and calls her "Mudblood." He tried to apologize afterward, something he almost never does for anyone, but the damage was done. Lily had reached her limit. She walked away, and that loss destroyed him.

Yet even after that, his love didn't die. He spent the rest of his life atoning. He became a double agent, risked everything spying on Voldemort, and protected Harry (the son of the man he hated most, who had Lily's eyes) for seventeen years. His Patronus never changed, it was still a doe. And in his final moments, when Dumbledore asks "After all this time?" he simply answers "Always."

That's not "loving the idea of her." That's real, messy, painful, all-consuming love. The kind that ruins you and still drives you to do the right thing in the end.

The Prince's Tale shows the ugly truth of how Snape lost the only person who ever mattered to him, and how that love defined everything he did afterward.

What do you all think? Am I missing something here? Also, I would love to know, why do some Snape fans try so hard to prove he didn’t love Lily? Any particular reason? It’s like trying to take away his most important character trait, the very thing that made him who he is and why a lot of us like him. It was love that got him out of the dark path and put him on the road to redemption. I find it crazy that posts like this pop up every week trying to deny it.
