Anyone else enjoying Niche fragrances more than Designer now?

I noticed that I've started to avoid Designer fragrances now.. I think partly cause may tendency sila maging masakit sa ilong/nakakahilo during the first spray. Niche scents parang mas mellow ang top notes and mas may "personality" ang middle to base notes. Idk is it just me lol

When do you wear MUSKS?

Is it more of a summer or rainy day scent? Day or night? Or all year round?

Love musks cause I find it super safe and inoffensive, so wondering lang how others wear it too hehe

Can I just rant: It's so hard being a business owner when your product relies on multiple outsourced materials/suppliers

Reject dito, reject diyan = Delays on delays on delays.
I'm currently making a fragrance brand, outsourcing the bottles and boxes.

Bottles from China

- walang ka-quality check quality check or thought on shipping packaging.

(to think okay reviews nila sa alibaba, nasa 4.9stars naman ata)

- MULTIPLE cracked bottles, smudged logo printing

- Logo printed ON the glass seams (edi may line sa gitna ng logo)

- Get this: As precautionary measure, I only nee 100pcs bottles, but I ordered 210pcs JUST TO BE SURE may extra in case may defect ibang bottles. Turns out, and praying na abot mga pwede gamitin to 100pcs.. currently counting, and praying. If di abot, abala nanaman. Delay nanaman.

Boxes from local supplier

- Takes 1 WEEK to make a handmade mockup. Takes 1-3 days to respond.

- May revision sa mockup? That's another 1 WEEK wait.

Aside from ranting (pls I really needed to get this off my chest, kasi pati mga kaibigan na pinag-rrant-an ko, atat na sa final product na di magawa gawa), may this serve as a warning to other aspiring business owners--IT REALLY TAKES a shitload of patience and funds.

I initially had a budget of 50k. As of today, I've spent 150k and baka umabot pa ng 200k because of all the delays and rejects caused by these suppliers.

Newbie Business Owner Lessons:

1. ALWAYS ask for a COMPLETE sample first. It doesn't matter if mas tatagal or mas mapapagastos. Never believe in a supplier that much--always check first if they can actually make the specific product you want. (No, generic samples from their previous project does not count as a sample sample) It is also only after they create a mockup sample for you that you will see their work in actuality: if pulido, may quality check, may pake sa output.

2. If possible, ASK FOR A CONTRACT. Make sure it states refund or replacement terms + realistic project timeline (and what happens/repercussions in case of delay). Mahirap na maningil ng refund pag fully paid + delay + mahirap na hagilapin supplier. Your money will be as good as gone.

3. It's better to be CAUTIOUS and OA with your standards than be nice, let the suppliers lead, and lose money.

Suggestions for healthy markup in perfume business? What percent would be safe?

Target market: B Market, Unisex (though leaning towards women's more), mid 20s-mid 30s

Product: Original Perfume, Custom Packaging

Thinking kasi wouldn't want to price it too high or too low.

COGS pa lang per pc is actually already around 1k :/ Not including taxes yet.

(pretty high cost, but really went all out with quality rawmats and packaging)

Would you buy an original (not dupe) local frag worth 2,500?

Just curious what the standards are locally since alot of us (me included) would splurge on international niche brands (known and unknown) but admittedly quite hesitant to spend more than 2k on a local one (to think 2k is SUPER CHEAP if it were a price for an international brand).. or maybe hesitant cause haven't found a local brand whose marketing speaks to me?

Frustrated with Local Suppliers

Ako lang ba or lagi nalang may delay pag may pinapagawa sa local suppliers? As in sa printing or mga custom made supplies. 2/3 suppliers ko LAGI DELAYED. Ang hirap pa hingan ng update, kung di ako mangungulit, may 1 week sigurong walang update and baka wala din progress.

I’m just so frustrated cause they give estimated lead times. And I’m aware naman na estimate nga, pero weeks to months madalas ang delay—ang hihirap pa kuhanan ng update sa progress. Pati ba sa paggawa may filipino time??

Ang hirap kasi, ang dali at bilis lagi kausap pag nagddeal, usapang quote, usapang bayad. Pero pag nabayaran na, wala na. 1-2 days bago magreply. Loaded daw ang shop, nakapila na project ko, etc.

Nakaka frustrate. Nagbabayad ng tama at on time, pero parang walang ka priopriority yung binayarang service.

I’ve been playing around with an accord inspired by hibiscus flower. Not trying to recreate it exactly, more like the feeling of it—lightly green floral, a little tangy, slightly watery.

Here’s what I have so far:

  • Raspberry Ketone (for the vibe of the red color) – 2
  • Lily Aldehyde – 4
  • Florozone – 3
  • Cashmeran – 4
  • Phenyl Ethyl Alcohol – 3

I actually like where it’s at, but it still feels like something’s missing. Maybe something that touches the “tea” territory? Any suggestions on that?
