How do y’all cook your beans?

Hello there!! I’m a college student who’s obsessed with all things beans. I visited Beanfest in Mountain View for years when I was younger, but my family stopped when a lot of people…. Let’s just say stopped going lol. Anywho, I wrote a paper on Beanfest and pinto beans as a foodway on the Ozarks last year for my semester project in a folklore of the south course, and upon talking to the people there from all over, a pot of beans was super important to their daily eating. While I’ve finished my research, I’m still just as obsessed with beans. I know a lot of it is secret or family recipes, but I’m curious—do you use pinto beans or other beans? Always with cornbread or something else? Always with ham or something else? Seasonings? Onion? I’m so curious!! I went last fall to Beanfest and got to serve a pot of beans (I was living my best life) so I learned a bit of what the people I was with do, but I’d love to try and make them myself. I’m from Indiana since my mom was there for work and my family just stayed, but I love beans from family in Arkansas and Louisiana, but the people that made beans that aren’t red beans are passed. My mom hates beans so I never ate them, trying to build my cooking up haha. Always wanting to know more about beans :))

Should I just not be friends with men? Is this a me thing? Is this just something that leaves with maturing?

CW SA, rant
I’m so upset and confused. I’m 21F and realized today I’m so young and stupid, truly. I had a bf for three years who randomly roofied me and SA’d me, then claimed it was mental health shit. That was so hard to come back from, I was so mad but more than half of my thoughts were always about him doing this to me affected him. I still worry about him, this happened like two days before Easter. Then a friend that’s way older like 36, friend of a friend in my dnd group, was comforting me and then came onto me. I felt safe with him but he was a sleaze. Mind you this is a month ish after shit went down with the ex. Turns out the dude already had two gfs and preys on girls fresh out of relationships. Yikes. Then another guy comes around and I think he’s different. We get along so well. I see it as a friendship. He plans to visit me and for some reason I say YES. For some reason?? God knows why now, I think I just genuinely have the street smarts of a baby bunny. Wide eyed and trusting to everyone. Then he confesses to me and I’m like holy shit and so I’m like I like you too because maybe I did, and then I realized today it’s so weird for an almost thirty year old to plan to meet a girl in college across the country a month after knowing them. And so I need to shut that down tonight, literally texted my therapist and was like PLSSS I NEED HELPPP. But I’ve been crying in my cubicle at my internship. I’m so embarrassed and confused why I get myself into these situations. Should I just not make friendships with men? I’m so young and naive and I’m now realizing that I can be taken advantage of so easily. I think I just need to stop online friendships for a while because I’m just… done. Is this a me thing? Will this get better in time with aging, or is this a me thing specifically? Even friends in college have come onto me, treat me weird sometimes, I just am so confused. I don’t even like Taylor swift but fuck she is the energy I need right now. Please give me any advice I’m so lost. I don’t want to constantly be putting out fires. I want to focus on myself, with internships, grad school apps, I don’t even know where I’ll be living this time next year. But every single fucking time a guy shows me affection and comfort, I melt and go stupid. Whyyy!!!! Help me fellow women!!

How do I 21F communicate to 29M that I don’t want anything serious?

Hello,
I’m 21, about to study abroad in the spring, plans for grad school with applications around the country… safe to say my life is a big question mark right now. That’s both exhilarating to think about, but also causing some issues.

I met a friend of a friend online through us playing a game all together, and we started chatting. He’s across the country, but we clicked immediately. I really like him, and he planned to come visit me even before we confessed we liked one another. So he’s coming in a few weeks. Issue is, I said I wanted to take things one step at a time, but this man thinks this is much more serious than I felt like I communicated. He’s telling people we’ve been talking, and I’m realizing that I may have led him on. And I feel awful about that. I plan to call him tonight and say tldr, I like you now. I’m excited to see you in a few weeks and spend time, but my schedule and life aren’t even set in stone for the next year, and I don’t want to pretend that it is. I want to let you know, in case you are coming in with the expectation that this is going to automatically lead into us having a serious relationship. I want to know what your thoughts on this, blah blah blah.

Any advice would be helpful. I just need to reel this man back without coming off like a bitch or callous. But I’m going to be firm that I don’t expect this to turn into a serious relationship. And if he doesn’t want that, then well I suppose it can end if he wants. I just want to know I’m doing things the right way, I think

Reasons why fusion keeps freezing?

I just started my first office job and they have me using Fusion! I am a voiceover person, so I really don’t know the troubleshooting tips for Windows. The JAWS program works when opened on its own, and so does ZoomText, but with Fusion, either JAWS doesn’t work, ZoomText doesn’t work, or the entire fusion program freezes the computer. Do you believe it’s an internal issue? Any ideas to try would be welcome!

I can’t remember the last time I’ve been only sighted guided for an event

I’m a college student just moved into summer housing about an hour away from home. I have a guide dog and left my canes at my apartment to go back home to a graduation ceremony for my brother. I learned it’s stadium seating, and my parents are saying that it’s too small for my guide dog for an extended period (he’s about eighty five pounds, not fat but just a very big boy). I was like well I don’t know what you want me to do, I don’t have a cane. They said we will just sighted guide. I love my family, but they are absolute shit at guiding me. They don’t understand why I’m so upset. Thinking back, I can’t remember the last time I was sighted guided without a cane… has to have been years. We’re leaving in an hour and I’m kind of freaking out because I don’t want to trip and fall down stairs. Have you guys ever felt this way or been in this position?
