4th of July challah (6 strand)

4th of July challah (6 strand)

It also doubles as a gender reveal challah 🤣

I only have those organic food colorings so they're not very strong. They come out very pastel.

I plan to use the sesame as the stars!

Stay tuned for the progress in the next 1-2 hours!

Shabbat Shalom ❤️🤍💙

Sesame seed challah hack

I love when my challah has an obscene amount of sesame seeds everywhere on the outside but I don't like the individual braids rolled in it.

I saw someone do this on Instagram with sprinkles on a cake so I thought let me try it with sesame seeds. Works great to get the lower parts of the challah.

Basically you hold a plate at an angle and use it to aim where you want to sesame to go. They bounce off the plate and onto exactly where you want on the challah.

Sorry for the poor quality video-- I am not an influencer 😂

Hope this is useful for someone.

Shabbat shalom! 💙🤗

And of course my challah recipe every week is Tel Aviv style:

425ml warm water

120g sugar

20g active dry yeast

1kilo flour

120g avo oil

20g salt

Berry time 😋🍓

We finished blueberry season with 88lbs.

Now it's on to strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries! (I saw a ready apricot on the way back inside so I grabbed that too).

Potentially poison hemlock at Annie's canyon Encinitas

Hey obviously I can't confirm if this is hemlock or not but if you go to Annie's canyon I'd just recommend to treat it as such.

The year of broccoli 🥦

This is the second round of broccoli. I have 10 bags in the freezer and now 7 more. Feeling very proud 🤗🥦💚

Dessert challah anyone? 😂

I started the challah late today so the kids got to make it on their own after school. I let them use an entire sprinkles bottle 🫠😂 however I will say I'm super proud of them for rolling and braiding and doing the egg wash all by themselves!

I had no idea this was even a possibility. Has this happened to any of you? I covered myself head to toe completely and threw the bin lid off and then ran like hell haha.

They must have started swarming within the last few hours so it's brand new. My bee removal guy is coming over to have a look. He said it's a 1/20 chance they actually move in. They may just be scouting. Wild!

We hosted shabbat this week and I let my adhd brain do whatever it wanted 😂

Hummus, labne, challah, couscous, roasted carrots, Israeli salad, fennel orange salad with dukkah, tbit, Moroccan fish with schug, and pistachio orange olive oil cake with cardomon ice cream.

I'm tired. Haha. Shabbat shalom! 💕 Hope it's a peaceful and lovely week for you all.
