The ways it seems most people get out of poverty

I just scrubbed reddit and it seems that most people get out of poverty these ways:

- Degree

- Military

- were lucky to get a good job

The search was pretty annoying because even when people are asked directly what got them out of poverty they start giving advice (not telling their story) or just tell you to work on yourself😑

But yeah that's what it seems like. Join the military, get a degree or/and apply a lot and hope you get a good job.

Edit: some people were able to get out of poverty through just working regular jobs and self discipline but honestly it seems like they were the minority not the majority.

Btw I didn't see one person say "the trades". Maybe it's just the audience thats on reddit but you'd think there would be at least one comment😬

Also I'm sure there's other ways but I just didn't see them that often. Doesn't mean that they don't work but there's probably a reason why they don't appear as often as military, degree and pure luck.

The only reason I'm alive is because I'm too afraid of suicide

Oddly enough...I think that's enough of a reason to live.

Learned from this sub that women travel more than men

*I tried posting this on r/blackmen but it literally auto-removed the post lol but all of this applies to this subreddit as well.

I've been thinking about dating abroad because dating just sucks for me here and so I've been going through this subreddit to learn about experiences. I was surprised that I kept reading about guys who mostly knew women who traveled so I decided to look it up and apparently women are the main ones that are traveling internationally, for leisure, which is the main reason people travel. It's kind of crazy because when I think of the people I know that's what I see too. I guess I was really attached to the idea that traveling to other places is primarily what men do, like whenever I hear about traveling I feel like I see stuff about passport bros or guys going on business trips or guys who are digital nomads but actually the only time men travel more than women is when you look at who's taking business trips and that's a fraction of the travel industry.

African American men are probably the least that travel due to not having a lot of disposable income for leisure and probably less business trips than other demographics due to not having positions that would allow it.

It would be cool to hear from some guys who have traveled for straight up leisure. If you've dated abroad how it's gone for you. I mostly made this post though because the reality is exactly the opposite of what I thought it would be lol
