Koru, the world's largest sailing yacht, crossing the Viaduct Harbour on Tuesday — 22 minutes in a 50-second timelapse

Koru (127 m, three masts Jeff Bezos's) making her way across the Viaduct Harbour on Tuesday afternoon, roughly 3:14 to 3:35pm, before heading out west towards the Harbour Bridge. Sped up 26x so the whole crossing fits in under a minute. She's been berthed down at Wynyard since.

Twilight race fleet coming home in golden light — Viaduct Harbour, Auckland, New Zealand [timelapse]

Last Friday's twilight racing — the fleet crossed just as the light peaked, with the Viaduct marina in the foreground. Sped up from about 50 minutes of real time.

The Spirit of New Zealand coming home up the harbour this morning

She came down under the Harbour Bridge, did a slow turn on the flat water and headed in to berth — three masts the whole way. I sped her whole ~25-minute run into a short timelapse. Always a good morning when one of the Spirit of Adventure Trust's ships is out on the Waitematā. Anyone here done a voyage on her?

Sunday's fog that grounded 100+ flights in Auckland - Time lapse — Rolling across the Viaduct and burning off

If you were stuck at the airport on Sunday, this is the fog that stopped your flight in Timelapse. The whole harbour just vanished — then it slowly burned off over hours. Boats appearing out of nothing, the water dead flat, the sun finally breaking through mid-morning. One of the eeriest, most beautiful starts to a day I've seen out there.

If anyone wants the whole day, a few speeds:

Curious which speed people actually prefer to leave on in the background — still trying to get that one right.

The Viaduct Live camera 24/7 4K so it caught the lot.
Watch live: https://www.youtube.com/@aucklandviaduct/live

A few notes:

  • No ads, no signup, no app — just YouTube live.
  • Audio's a soft lofi loop, not the actual street (didn't want to record people walking past).
  • Runs 24/7 on dedicated hardware, not a laptop, so it stays up through weather like this.

Sharing it because Sunday felt like one of those proper Auckland weather days worth catching. If you work from home and like a harbour in the background, or you're missing Auckland from somewhere else, it's there. Feedback welcome on anything — the framing, the audio, what you'd want it to catch next.

Built a 24/7 4K livestream of the Viaduct Harbour from a 15th-floor window — sharing in case it's useful as ambient Auckland on a second monitor

Watch live: https://www.youtube.com/@aucklandviaduct/live

Covers the viaduct basin, harbour bridge, and the Waitematā. Day, night, weather, regattas — whatever's happening.

A few notes:

- No ads, no signup, no app required — just YouTube live.

- The audio is a soft lofi loop. Didn't want to record the conversations of random people walking past.

- Runs 24/7 on dedicated infrastructure, not a laptop, so should stay up.

For anyone who works from home and likes a quiet harbour in the background, or who's just missing Auckland from elsewhere — hope you find some use in it. Feedback welcome on framing, audio, anything you'd like the cam to do differently.
