I'd like to knit a sweater in this pattern and made this swatch. I played around with color dominance, stitch count, tension, and it just naturally wants to bunch along the color changes despite all of these. It does smoothen out some, but not unless I try to. Is this just what happens in this kind of colorwork, or is there something I can do to prevent this?
Yarn is K+C cotton from Joann. I sized up the needle.
