Do you think she got hired?

I am a GM at a sit down restaurant located right next to a Chilis (we share the same dumpster) and a young woman came in for an interview for a server position. I wasn’t expecting any interviews but I thought I must have forgot.

So she hands me a copy of her resume and I start interviewing her. 10-15 minutes go by and it’s fine so far but then she asks about tuition reimbursement. I was puzzled and told her we don’t offer that. Then she’s like “this isn’t Chilis?!?” I said “no, that’s the next building over.”

She was so embarrassed and politely walked out in a hurry to get to Chilis ASAP. After she was long gone I realized I still had her resume.

Nothing against Chilis but our restaurant is fancier and looks nothing like a Chilis. Anyway, you guys think she still got the job?

While waiting for food I got a call from DoorDash. Scam?

It was an automated message saying the delivery was for a high priority customer and I would get an extra $5 for the delivery. They didn’t ask for any personal information. 3000 deliveries and this has never happened to me before. Anyone else ever get these calls?

Catering Order cancelled after pickup. Now what?

What do I do with all these sandwiches and chips?
28 sandwiches and 28 bags of chips.

Update: Took two sandwiches and gave some away to a fire department. Had about 10 left and gave the rest to the staff at a vet clinic down the street. Kept all of the chips for a snack when I want one.

Doordash took an order from me

Had a $13, 5 mile order for Del Taco. Arrived at Del Taco, clicked I arrived, as I’m waiting I get another order for Sonic, $7 for 3 miles. I add that, or so I thought, then my screen goes straight to the sonic location and the Del Taco order disappeared.

And now I’m waiting at Sonic pretty pissed off.

Update: and now my completion rate took a hit because of it.

wtf?

Does nobody work anymore?

First off I have to do this full time for the foreseeable future that is beyond my control. Also, I am thankful for my market because it is always very busy and I tend to make well in 40 hours or less.

However, if I go to a Starbucks at 3pm on a Wednesday it’s packed. Drive thru is insane. Crowd inside, no parking spots, etc. or if I go to WalMart same thing. Also the traffic is bumper to bumper non-stop on every major road. It doesn’t matter the day or the season or anything but it’s something I have noticed.

I don’t live in a large city, there’s only 100,000 people here but not only is there just people everywhere I am always delivering to private residences. Maybe people working from home? But really that many people can’t be working from home. This is also not a wealthy area.

This has been on my mind for a while. I’m just curious how people are doing it with all the inflation and in this economy.

It’s 2026 and there are customers out there who still don’t understand how DoorDash works.

No. I can’t give you a refund.
No. I don’t work for the restaurant.

I’m done giving rides.

Main reason is fat people. Over time the amount of morbidly obese people in my vehicle has ruined my suspension and my frame. The final nail was when three huge fat women got into my car adding at least an extra 1000 lbs and I had to go over speed bumps and the bottom of the car scraped horribly…and one of the pigs had the audacity to blame my car for being “too low”….really? You sure it’s not because I’m hauling three land whales? I literally had to bite my tongue.

No. I don’t care if I get downvoted. My car wasn’t meant to be a fucking forklift.

Did anybody else have a slow Friday?

Both Uber and Lyft were dead when it’s usually surging like crazy. The only app busy enough was DoorDash so at least I made up for it but still. Usually I can crank out $40-$50 an hour on Friday nights. This is just ridiculous.

First off, I never take anything under $7. This was a $7+ ride and I only got $6. Second, the guy was cool and said he added the tip, and showed me, he allowed me to take a photo. Four hours later and I still haven’t received it. I called support but that went nowhere. They said there was no tip on the ride. Fuck Uber. They are stealing from us.
