As a Porsche fanboy, I'm pleasantly surprised by the AMG

I mostly play raceroom with the Porsche gt3. The Porsche in the game handles VERY well in that game (for me), while others tend to understeer. Coming to LMU, I naturally try the porsche. Its good but something is always wrong, wheel toe and steering angle and my overall setup are never right. Especially at road atlanta.

This is where I look to trying another car. I had tried the Mclaren since its mid-rear engine and I hated it. Too nervous on the power and on curbs.

So I try the AMG because I had learned about its characteristics. I tried it, expecting it to understeer like a war-ship only to find that it handles PERFECTLY. ON DEFAULT SETUP. I immediately gained a whole second at Road Atlanta after 5 laps.

Eats curbs for breakfast.

Unbelievably amazing on the brakes.

Doesn't shit itself on throttle.

Looks badass.

Maybe its because its engine is closer to the mid than normal front engine cars? IDK, its my fav car in this game now. Going all in, early into a corner is very fun. Driving the Porsche was like doing turn-based combat.
The only issues for me are that it has poor acceleration, cold rear tires and it requires good trail-braking.

I revamped my cover after getting advice. New (left) vs Old(right). What do you think?

I combined krita and Chatgpt prompts to make both. I put a lot more effort into the new one (left).

The new-font is called "FELIX TITLING". The old font is called "AWESOME SOUTH KOREA" and I had to modify it to make it look like that.

I generated the backdrop and the hand seperately.

In krita, I added better lighting, sharpening, shadows from the hand, wings, text and better contrast.

By no means am I a graphic designer or artist (I just draw a lot and love composition) and Im just a hobbyist hoping to make some money from writing. That is to say, I cant afford an artist at the moment. I dont like lazy ai-generated content and the way it looks so I try to put more effort into it. I hope you dont mind.

About the story:

Pls check it out. Be sure to leave a review (be kind my heart is weak). I'm an amateur writer so dont expect the best work, but do tell me if you think the writing is kinda weak.

Losing hope. A rant about multi-"player" and driving-standards

I just came from a less than good racing experience in both F4 and A110.

Both races sucked. I got spun on T1 on BOTH races. BOTH. In F4 at Oschershleben, a dive up the inside and netcode got me. I continue the race, only to be spun again, by another dive at T1. Mind you, I cannot image going two wide at T1 with how narrow and precise it has to be. T2 sure, excellent even. I still continue the race, just to be spun again by netcode. Not even the other guy's fault, just an invisible 1 meter barrier between us.

I notice that my rating goes down and my lobbies change from "1 of 3" to "3 of 3". Does this mean I'm in trash lobbies now?

Now a110. I know that Im not supposed to expect much from the free races but its all i can get this week fr online. My sister just got me the DTM-2025-Pack and Nords for my birthday so I've been playing a lot more online to test them out. The paid-race of F4 that I've raced have been good, so I assumed a110 would be decent. Boy was I wrong. I survive T1, but get spun on lap 3. Some "player" infront of me blocked me 4 times after he messed up a corner. He then intentionally spun me after he messed up the next corner. He literally squeezed me while side by side. He nearly spun himself out too.

At this point, im done. I cant anymore. I just did the same race but AI and it was SUBLIME. Hard but good racing from the AI. Just brilliant. I dont know why I strayed from AMS1 singleplayer (doesnt have modern DTM and online).

Anyway, this was just a rant, Ill be playing singleplayer mostly like i used to thanks for reading.

Hotlappers are eating good this week!

As a mostly free player, who loves the driving feel of raceroom but hates online, this is amazing. Spa, Nords (with fricken group B!?) and Monza are my favorite tracks. Plus I've always wanted to learn a DTM track. I was just gonna play AMS1 or Assetto Corsa but this is too good to miss. Thank you devs <3

Is the ADAC GT Masters Experience 2014 DLC Worth It?

Its the only thing I can buy and afford. My country has weird payment processor stuff so I have to buy it on a 3rd party site (reliable tho). I mostly play offline as I dont have time for online nor the patience and I like raceroom's ai. I have assetto corsa but I hate the AI. So would it be worth it at all? It costs about 9.5 EUR.

GUIDE: How to play using your phone as a gyro-controller!!! (better than controller)

What:

This is a guide for those who want to use their phone's gyro to use it like a steering wheel. I'll cover what mods, apps and settings you need. I will also be remapping buttons. Youtube videos on this use a sub-optimal setup imo plus there's not much info on this online.

Why:

Before you ask "why would anyone would ever do this", "just buy a wheel","Just use a controller" let me explain:

-I'm a broke student living in dorms, so a wheel is simply not an option.

-My stupid ahh only brought my crap gamepad to uni instead of my good one that has precision-inputs and gyro. Even with assists mods, the crap gamepad is still terrible. Maybe you dont even have a gamepad.

-If set up right the driving experience is actually quite pleasant.

-While researching, I read a post about someone with a disability not being able to use a normal simracing setup and it sounded like they needed what I've created here, but couldn't do it. I hope this helps anyone it can :)

-Metadata: People searching for whatever problem they face will find this and hopefully it helps.

-Engineers solve problems lmao. (srsly tho, this was not easy to figure out and took time)

How:

  1. Install phone app: There are various apps you could use for this but the one i use is called Remote Gamepad. It's pretty straight forward to install.
  2. Layout: What really matters is the layout, you can use whatever works for you. There are sliders for throttle and brake but it is very awkward on a phone and I hated it. So I recommend my layout in the last image that uses LB and RB buttons instead. Actually, use LT and RT buttons!!!! I fixed the issue.
  3. AC doenst have controller buttons smoothing so the next steps will fix that.
  4. I've modified one of the scripts for the mod Advanced Gamepad Assists. AGA doesnt have button smoothing for controller. The original creator of the mod did this for "competitive reasons" and because "assisted braking would probably get this mod banned from LFM and similar places". This is for your own knowledge.
  5. Download my *Modified* Advanced Gamepad Assists: https://github.com/BlueT-netizen/-Modified-For-Button-Smoothing-AC-Advanced-Gamepad-Assist
  6. To download: Click on the green Code button then, download Zip. Otherwise, you download the original which doesn't have button smoothing.
  7. If you know how, just copy paste my new code into the original if you have it. DONT DO THIS IF YOURE NOT CONFIDENT IN YOUR COMPUTER SKILLS.
  8. Activate AGA in content manager

-If you want to edit the throttle and brake smoothing:

  1. From your AC installation folder, Go to: C:\Users\............\Assetto Corsa\extension\lua\joypad-assist\Advanced Gamepad Assist

  2. Open assists.lua

  3. Find "globalThrottleSmoother" using cntrl+F

  4. Looks like this:

    local globalThrottleSmoother = lib.SmoothTowards:new(6.0, 0.01, 0.0, 1.0, 0.0) local globalBrakeSmoother = lib.SmoothTowards:new(6.0, 0.01, 0.0, 1.0, 0.0)

  5. The first number is a 6. The brake and throttle will take a 6th of a second to go from 0 to 100 and back. . Change it to whatever you like.

  6. Problem solved! Now you dont have to rely on ABS as much (now you can automatically trail brake lol). We have smooth button inputs which IMO are way less awkward than the slider. Awesome.

  7. Finally: Now we need to make the steering feel good. I prefer the steering being as "raw" as possible with some smoothing. Since AGA is literally assists that force your wheel, we have to make it as weak as possible.

  8. Use the AGA settings in the last image. Adjust to your liking. Edit: In my modified AGA script,I have weakened a lot of the steering effects by force.

-OPTIONAL

  1. In AGA, enable Automatic shifting and disable it in content manager assists. Default AC automatic shifting sucks and this version is much better. Now you wont be at 5th gear on a hairpin :).
  2. Ive already enabled it in the image but im just clarifying.

Done!! That should be it. Comment if you need any clarification. Comment if you think this is silly (it is). Thanks for reading, have fun sim-racing and you're welcome.
