Opinions on moving to Munich

Hi all im just looking for some general thoughts and opinion regarding my current situation.

I am British/German and have both citizenships and am fluent in both and currently live in London. However, all my hobbies relate to mountains and Im tired of having to take holiday to be able to spend just a little bit of time in them (skiing, snowboarding, hiking, camping, i want to get into mountaineering and paragliding...the list goes on).

Im currently looking into moving to Munich to be able to spend more time in the mountains as Garmisch is only a an hour by train, austria is not far either and I could spend evenings or weekends in the mountains and it wouldnt be a huge task to do so.

Is that a reasonable impression that I have of Munich? Is this something a lot of people do? Is there anything im need a reality check on?

Also on a side note, is Biathlon a thing in Munich? Always meant to try that.

Thanks for any input and comments!

How bad will the Super El Niño affect snow in BC, Canada?

Hi all random question. I have had the opportunity to spend 11 weeks skiing on a course in fernie Canada. However it is going to be very expensive (no surprise there). Fernie is known to get great snow but im seeing all the reports about the Super El Niño and wondering whether i should save my money for the next year and just go skiing for a week or so in Europe somewhere?

Just curious about people's opinions, i dont have much experience with this stuff and never been skiing in outside of Europe.

Thanks for any input

PC and Mac crossplay

Hi,

I dont know how often this has been asked. But i have 2 friends who have macs and me and another friend are on Windows. Is there a way to play together? They can play it on crossover 25 and we can see each other online but we can never join each others games. Is there a solution to this or simply doomed.

Thanks!

Recomendations for the C2C

Hi all,

I am planning to do the c2c in 12 days from the 25th may. I currently only have a 25 litre day pack since my last large one broke. Im now stuck on what sized pack to buy and also what hiking poles I should get. On the one hand im thinking a 50 litre would be great, light, easy to walk with. On the other hand a 60+10 litre gives me more versatility also for other trips, and I can just not pack it full and hike with it.

Also is there anything im forgetting or you recommend i bring?

My current pack list:

Clothes:

- 1 patagonia torrentshell 3L

- water proof trousers (unsure on this, could just accept the legs will get wet.)

- 1 decathlon down jacket

- 1 fleece

- 1 pair hiking trousers

- 1 pair shorts

- 3 t-shirts

- 3 pairs underwear

- 3 pair merino wool socks

- 1 Pair hiking boots

- sun hat

Kit:

- MSR hubba hubba NX2

- MT 900 sleeping pad

- Mountain equipment helium 400 sleeping bag

- jet boil zip

- Hiking poles (any recommendations?)

- headlamp

- small towel

- water filter (still need to buy)

- First aid kit

- I saw people recommend leukotape?

- 2 litres of water

- toothbrush

-toothpaste tablets

- hand sanitizer

- trowel and some toilet paper

- firelighter and some tape in case of repairs (wrapped around the lighter)

- battery pack

-fujifilm X-T5 (this is the only bulky and vulnerable item, not sure whether to bring it)

Food:

- 4 packs of porridge for breakfast

- 4 dehydrated meals for wild camping days

- assorted snacky bits (not much)

Thanks for any help!

Hi all,

Im planning on camping the entire C2C and wildcamping as much as i can. Unfortunately my old bag has taken some damage and I am currently looking for a new one. Im thinking a 60+10 litres might be a good option? Or would that be significantly overkill? I wouldnt have to fill it but it would give me flexibility to use it for a variety of things.

Any pack recommendations and tips for the trip?

Hiya,

Im planning on doing the camino de primitivo starting on the 25th May, and completing it in around 12 days.

I realise its a little short notice but what are the things I urgently need to organise beforehand? I know i need to plan in advance for the hospitales route and I need rain gear a sleeping bag and sleeping bag liner.

I hike quite a bit so ill be bringing the rest anyways. Im thinking of getting a 35 litre bag since ill have camera gear with me too.

Anything urgent I need to get sorted before I go there or need to consider?

Thanks all!
