built an iPhone app that recreates early 2000s disposable cameras

The idea is pretty simple.

I always liked the look from those cheap disposable cameras from the early 2000s, but most apps today just throw a filter on the image and call it "film". I wanted something that felt a bit more real.

Just take the picture and it starts "developing" for a few seconds before you get the final result.

The hardest part honestly wasn't making the app, it was making the photos actually look convincing. Film grain by itself just looked fake. I spend way more time than I expected tweaking colors, flash, texture and small lens imperfections until it started looking right.

It's still not perfect, and I'm sure there is stuff I can improve, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

If anyone here likes building camera apps or photography apps I'd really like some feedback.

  • Does the idea make sense?
  • Is there any features you would expect?
  • Anything you think could make it better?

Would love to hear what other developers think. 🙂

Building LinkChart.art — a collaborative network mapping tool

Been working on a project called LinkChart.art.

It’s a realtime collaborative canvas for mapping relationships between people, vehicles, companies, events, locations and other connected information.

The original idea came from wanting a more visual way to organize investigation and OSINT-style information in one place together with other people.

Main focus so far has been:

  • smooth infinite canvas
  • realtime collaboration
  • live syncing between users
  • investigation-style workflow
  • editable SVG exports
  • large relationship/network mapping

Still early, but it’s been a really fun technical challenge so far.

Realtime visual link analysis canvas. Linkchart.art

Hey everyone,

Currently working on LinkChart, a visual network analysis platform focused on realtime investigation and relationship mapping.

The idea is to create a large collaborative canvas where people, vehicles, locations, companies, events and communication can all be connected visually in one place.

One of the main goals is realtime collaboration, allowing multiple users to work on the same canvas simultaneously and see each other’s changes live — similar to Google Docs, but for visual investigation mapping.

Current features:

  • Large zoomable canvas
  • Relationship/link mapping
  • Custom investigation nodes
  • Realtime collaboration
  • Multiple users editing simultaneously
  • Live updates between users
  • Investigation-style interface
  • Editable SVG export

The platform will stay free while development continues.

Mainly looking for honest feedback:

  • What would you add?
  • What feels missing?
  • Does the UI make sense?
  • Any features you’d expect from a tool like this?

Would love feedback from people interested in OSINT, investigations, cyber, intelligence analysis or visual mapping.
