91A Army Reserve Officer PCSing to Hawaii — Opportunities?

Hey everyone! I’m a 91A Army Reserve officer looking to transfer units soon. My wife and I will be PCSing to Hawaii, so I’m trying to get a head start on what opportunities are out there.

Does anyone know of any Reserve units in Hawaii with 90A/logistics opportunities or who I should reach out to about vacancies/transferring?

Also, does anyone have recommendations for civilian job opportunities for military spouses or Reservists in Hawaii? Any resources, companies, federal jobs, or programs worth looking into would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

LG BOLC Pay Timeline

I’m a newly commissioned Reserve 2LT heading to LG BOLC soon. For anyone who has gone recently, when did your active-duty pay actually start coming in after reporting to BOLC?

I’m considering getting a new car before I leave, so I’m trying to get an idea of the pay timeline and whether there’s usually a delay with the first paycheck.

Any insight from recent LG BOLC grads would be appreciated!

Army 365 Email Access on MacBook – Certificate Verification Failed

I’m a newly commissioned 2LT and I’m having trouble accessing my Army .mil email on my MacBook. Every time I try to log into Army 365/Outlook using my CAC, I get a “certificate verification failed” message.

Has anyone had this issue on a Mac and figured out how to fix it? Is there anything specific I need to download or set up on my MacBook for my CAC/certificates to work?
Just trying to get access to my Army 365 Outlook/email.

Any help or step-by-step instructions would be appreciated!

When did you get access to your Army .mil email after commissioning?

For those who commissioned through ROTC and are now 2LTs, when did you first get access to your Army .mil email?

I just commissioned and I’m trying to figure out if this is normal or if I should be following up with someone. How long did it take for you, and who ended up helping you get access? I have my first drill this weekend and im pre-BOLC will they help me set it up when I report?

Pre-BOLC 2LT first drill questions

Hey everyone,

I just commissioned as a 2LT in the Army Reserve and I’m reporting to my first drill this weekend. I haven’t gone to BOLC yet, so I’m still very new and honestly don’t know what to expect.

For those who’ve been in my shoes (or have worked with new lieutenants):
What does a first drill usually look like for a pre-BOLC 2LT?

Will I mostly be doing in-processing and paperwork, or should I expect to jump into unit operations?
What are some things you wish you knew before your first drill?

Any advice on how to make a good first impression without coming across like I know everything?
Any common mistakes I should avoid?

I’m assigned to an Ordnance unit if that makes any difference. Just trying to learn as much as I can before I show up.

Thanks in advance!

USAR LG 2LT Going to LOG BOLC in October – Questions About CAD Process

I’m a USAR LG 2LT scheduled to attend LOG BOLC in October. My long-term goal is to switch to Active Duty. How realistic is the process for a Reserve officer, and what timeline have others experienced?

Is it possible to submit a Call to Active Duty (CAD) packet while at BOLC, or do I need to complete BOLC and spend time in my Reserve unit first? For those who have successfully made the switch, what helped your packet stand out?

Looking for some insight on 175th Maintenance Company at Fort Jackson.

How’s the unit overall in terms of leadership, drill schedule, and workload?

Also curious about opportunities like ADOS, deployments/mobilizations, and overall career growth in that unit.

Appreciate any info.

I’m an MS4 about to commission as a Reserve Logistics 2LT on August 1. I originally wanted Active Duty, so I didn’t really build out a solid civilian career plan.

Now I’m trying to be proactive because I don’t want to end up struggling financially or just “figuring it out” last minute.

I’m considering using TA benefits later to get my MBA, but I’m not sure if that’s the smartest move right away or if I should focus more on building a civilian career first.

For those in the Reserves (especially Logistics):

What did your career path look like starting out?

Did the Army actually help you land opportunities (jobs, networking, etc.)?

Would you recommend going straight into grad school or getting work experience first?

Just trying to make the smartest move long-term. Appreciate any advice.
