WIBTAH if I changed my lawn to wildflowers? My neighbors are against it.

EDIT 2: Thank you all for the great advice! I’ll talk to them and see what they think. There were some great compromise ideas in the comments!

TL;DR at the end

I (20F) lost my dad a couple years ago and inherited enough to buy myself a house. The adults in my life thought it would be a good investment, and he would want me taken care of. But I don’t know what’s socially acceptable when it comes to lawns/neighbors.

The neighbors on either side are family. On my right is the grandmother’s house, on the left is a mom (right house’s daughter), her husband, and their daughter (who is my age). We’re on good terms with one another and frequently do each other favors.

Our only issue is the lawn. Since they own the properties on either side of my house, they want all three lawns mowed down and looking the same. They insisted they mow my lawn too, and after enough convincing, I’ve been letting them lately.

I work at a garden center, and have been constantly expanding my garden since I moved in. I have all the seeds, tools, and advice I could ever need at my disposal. To bring more pollinators to my vegetable garden, help the declining bee population, feed the birds, and create a safe space for the rabbits and squirrels, I want to kill off most of my lawn and plant wildflowers. Not just all over, it’ll be designed into sections with walkways and whatnot.

Would this make me an asshole? Seeds will obviously blow into my neighbor’s yards, when they want grass only. It is my property, but it will affect their lawns.

TL;DR: I want to rip out my lawn and turn it into all wildflowers, but the flowers will inevitably spread to my neighbors’ yards and they want grass only.

EDIT: To answer some common questions…
- My neighbors are very sweet people! I grow produce in my garden for them, and they cook for me in return. They’ve made it clear that I can ask them to stop mowing my lawn at any time, but that they do prefer it mowed.
- To everyone saying “screw them,” I would like to keep a good relationship with them. I was asking if I’m the asshole because I wouldn’t want to be unkind to them and don’t know what acceptable.
- I live in the old, cheap side of town. Many of my neighbors have wildflower gardens, chickens, or unruly front lawns. It’s not against any rules here, just rude to your neighbors, I guess.

Confirmation that these are termites? Garden center in Kansas

I work at a garden center and we updated some of our seed prices recently, so I’ve been going through all of our packaged seed and filling new packets/bags.

We keep some seed in mason jars with the lids screwed tightly on. I was filling packets with a jar of zinnia seeds, and noticed all these tan bugs running around. Insect ID app says they’re Formosan subterranean termites, but that’s based off of that second photo. There had to have been thousands, so we threw out the zinnia seeds and called it a day.

Today, I went through corn seed, and found this (first picture) in the bag. None of it is moving, so I’m wondering if they’re eggs, droppings or dead termites? Started looking closer at everything, and what’s in this bag of corn is in a lot of the jars and bags. In the jars/bags that have a lot, the seeds are hollowed out.

Went through the drawers we put bags of seeds in and found dead winged bugs that could be adult termites.

For reference, literally everything is made of wood here. The drawers the bags are in, the shelves the jars are on, all the walls, etc. The building is well over 100 years old and a lot of the wood has been breaking down and rotting for a very long time already.

So my main questions are: A) Are these termites? Whats in the bag of corn? and B) What’s the next step? I’m going to have to tell my boss tomorrow. I want to at least have a solution if I’m going to ruin his day.

Still sick five days after acupuncture. Is this normal?

20F with diagnosed narcolepsy, hypermobile Ehlers Danlos, hyperadrenergic POTS, and chronic erosive gastritis. I have a long history of having wild reactions to most medications, so I’ve been trying acupuncture as a last resort.

I started three weeks ago. First two weeks were done in my back, and I didn’t have any adverse reaction. This last week was done in my legs and forehead. Within 5 minutes, I felt like I had horrible motion sickness. Pushed through the 25 minutes because I figured it was maybe just in my head.

I felt so nauseous afterward, and briefly mentioned it, but said it could just be a symptom of one of my chronic illnesses. The rest of that day was awful.

The next day was okay, but it came back. I ended up being sent home from work one day because I looked so sick. Just a weird nausea and dizziness that again, feels like motion sickness.

It was fine this morning, so I thought it had finally stopped, but as the day went on, it got worse again. Is this normal? How do I make it stop?

As a side note, my chronic pain has been significantly better this week, so maybe it is helping and this is something that will go away?

Please tell me there’s a way to seal this from the outside

I’ve been working on this tank for a good 10 hours. Put three storage tubs full of dirt in it. $300 worth of wood. Please tell me I don’t have to start over and this can be sealed easily?

Looking for part-time “caregiver” in East Lawrence

I’m 20F and have a handful of chronic illnesses that make daily chores extremely difficult. I have good days where I can be on my feet for 4-6 hours at a time, and bad days where I have to use a wheelchair. I’m looking for someone that can help out with dishes, laundry, organizing medication, cleaning, lifting things, running errands, and other random tasks.

It can be on a schedule, but it would be great to have someone that can come on short notice during medical episodes. Medical episodes are never emergencies, but very unpleasant and I could use extra help during them.

Requirements:
- Can lift 50lbs
- Woman
- Good with animals
- 2+ visits a week (1-4 hours each)
- Reliable transportation

Preferences:
- Aged 16-26
- Good with plants/willing to learn
- Doesn’t mind getting dirty (help with outdoor tasks/yard work would be great, but not necessary)
- Lives in East Lawrence

PM for more info!

Anyone seen this before? I work at a garden center and this is on our sweet potatoes. None of us can figure it out.

We’ve had some tick/mite-looking things crawling around, in the bed lately but they’re too small to identify. Boss thinks is from them, I said I thought it might be a sort of fungus. No bugs on the infected plants.

It’s crusty, but if you rub it between your fingers, it turns into a brown powder.
