Volvo gearbox oil change. Machine flush or drain and fill?
Hey everyone,
I'm planning to change the transmission fluid on my Volvo equipped with the Aisin TG-81SC 8-speed automatic box. It's getting to that mileage where it definitely needs some fresh fluid, but I'm torn on the method.
Should I go for a proper machine flush at a shop, or is the classic 3x drain and fill method preferred for these specific gearboxes? I've heard mixed opinions about machine flushes potentially damaging older seals, while others say a simple drain and fill leaves too much old fluid in the torque converter.
If you've done this on your TG-81SC, which route did you take and how did it hold up? Any specific advice or things to watch out for?
Thanks in advance!
