How to approach binding off on both sides of neckline?

I am confused how to approach binding off both sides of the neckline. The pattern is the Lillehammer 1994 olympic sweater. Link: https://v.imgi.no/houseofyarn-5666503-355-127-02_dsa_lillehammer_94_genser_oppskrift_en_rev2

The pattern first calls for binding off 19 stitches in middle which I have already done. However, when binding off stitches on each side for every row, will I just be basically cutting yarn after every row?

I have done one repeat where I bound off 4 stitches, cut my yarn, skipped the 19 stitched gap, picked up new yarn, bound off 4 stitches on the other side of the gap, and then continued knitting around.

However, I saw some others saying they started knitting on the WS at this point. I have not seen anyone described how they approached these specific decreases. I have tried searching reddit, Youtube and Ravelry notes but it seems I am the only one confused by this part of the pattern.

People who made partner: did you ever apply for in-house positions?

I was surprised to learn that many of the more senior associates had (or at least were rumoured to have) applied for in-house roles. I am curious to know how many partners out there had explored going in-house but maybe just never found the right fit and ended up becoming partner. Or do most partners know that is their goal all along?

Can I notarize IDs for family / friends?

Can I use my lawerly powers to notarize two IDs for my brother in laws girlfriend? My firm wouldn’t do it, and if they did, they’d charge so much for it. Or, where can I look for guidance on if this is allowed or advisable?

I’m in BC to the extent that is relevant.

10-Week Marathon Plan

My husband and I were supposed to run a marathon at the end of October but due to unforeseen circumstances, we are contemplating doing a marathon in the middle of September instead. Basically, we were going to fly from Canada to France for the race but my husband now has a work trip that would allow us to go to Vienna for much cheaper in September.

It would be our third marathon and given the tight timing, we wouldn’t be going for time. I am currently up to 30 km per week with a long run of about 16km.

Do we go through with this plan? And advice on plans to follow? Or is this totally irresponsible?

Covers on window and engines of UPS MD-11

Taxiing at Pearson Airport in Toronto and saw this UPS MD-11 with covers on the engines and windows. My understanding is that all of the UPS MD-11s are going to be retired. Are these covers added in preparation for anything or were they previously added for storage before they decided the retire the fleet?

Do people succeed in this job without being totally materialistic?

I’m a pretty cheap person. I’ve always found it hard to justify buying things like designer clothes, new cars, etc. and I’ve started to notice that the people that seem happiest in this grind are also those that are materialistic in some way. Like, people who love to notice and comment on all the fancy things that the partners have, or fancy restaurants and hotels that they’ve gone to. In a way, it’s starting to feel like a pyramid scheme where partners flaunt their wealth to entice / impress associates so that the associates will continue to work hard for them in hopes of being fancy like them one day. I also see this online - all the big law lawyer influencers all have this undertone of spending on luxury clothes etc. Has anyone seen a different kind of path? Are there people who succeed in this job that aren’t totally motivated by the fancy jewelry and cars, or is some level of that required to put up with the abuse from this kind of job?

My current best plan to get enough mileage to train for my third marathon is to run to and from work (4 km each way) with a long run on the weekend. How much do you think it will impact my training if most of my runs are split up into two shorter runs?

For my first two marathons, I was a student so I had a lot more free time. Now, I work a demanding job (corporate lawyer) and have less time to run. Combining my commute time with my running time would really help me be more efficient, but I don’t know if having most of my runs be shorter (~4km, but twice a day) will affect my ability to handle the marathon distance. For my first two marathons, I was doing about 3 runs of 8-10km so the math works but i don't know if the physical effects will be the same.
