Apocrypha II Spells Frustrations

Apocrypha II Spells Frustrations

I just spent like two hours trying to get Thunderburst II to drop in the Temple of Nestharot, it's a 5% chance I thought it might be higher because I've been able to get the other ones without too much trouble. I even got Supernova II on the first try but this one was a nightmare, I had to restart the fight because I killed the boss and the last enemy died from a counterattack.

I managed to get it by using Mighty Strike to push the boss onto another square, it took many attempts though. My plans are ruined I wanted to finish all the temples by the end of the day and now it's late at night. Luckily there's only one more, the Ice Temple. I beat the annoying ones already, Fire & Earth. Ice isn't too bad but I really hope I don't have to go through this long process again. I love this game but that was not a fun experience.

Overwhelming Positivity

Hey 👋 it's me again. I've noticed that many Kiseki YouTubers are overwhelmingly positive about the series. Tbf there's not a lot of Kiseki YouTubers out there but I wanted to talk about the lack of criticism on the series on YouTube. >!Like with CSIV no one talks about how ridiculous the whole Curse Plot was,!< I think it's crazy that many Kiseki YouTubers I've seen don't really talk about it.

Side Tangent - Originally this post was about toxic positivity in the fandom but the one about Kiseki YouTubers bothered me even more. Someone is probably gonna say being positive isn't a bad thing I didn't say that I'm just saying that it's baffling the lack of criticism this series gets on YouTube. Meanwhile here on Reddit it gets its fair share. I'm probably gonna get downvoted for this post but I feel like someone needed to bring it up.

Tales of Choices

I want to see what everyone's favorite Tales Games are. You can pick 3 because I think just one is too hard.

I also want to know which unlocalized Tales games people want to check out. 3 for this one too.

- Favorite Tales -

Tales of Berseria - This one is my favorite and hasn't been beaten yet, I love the story, the cast and the world. The music is not as strong, the gameplay is not that deep and some of the dungeons are kind of boring but everything else is great. Definitely a big improvement over Zestiria, Zestiria had better music though.

Tales of Xillia 2 - I always wondered how an urban fantasy Tales game would be like, this is the closest we're probably gonna get to that. I love Elympios, I love the fight scenes in this game, some of the boss themes are amazing and Ludger is a beast in combat. The other characters are good too, there's so many different combinations to try out with each character's link attacks. The idea of the what if scenarios of all the fractured dimensions is so interesting and the characters have a lot of great moments in this game. The Debt System was annoying and most of this game was just reused content from Xillia 1 but I still had a blast.

Tales of The Symphonies - I had a hard time picking this one, Symphonia is such a cliche pick my choice was going to be Vesperia but despite the fact that I loved that game it doesn't have the best story. I had to go with Tales of Balance, Lloyd is a great protagonist, there were so many memorable story moments in this game. The worlds of Sylvarant & Tethealla are so beautiful and made even better by the music that accompanies it. Despite the chibi character models Tales of Two Worlds told a dark compelling narrative that I think was solid.

- Unlocalized Tales -

Tales of Destiny (Directors Cut) - The graphics look good, the gameplay looks good and talking swords sounds like a blast. Edit - Oops I messed up with this one Destiny was localized, this version just never made it to the west. I completely forgot my bad. 😓

Tales of Innocence R - Gameplay looks like it'll be fun and the premise sounds interesting.

Tales of Phantasia - There's so many versions of this game I don't know which one would be the best. I'm just curious to know what happened in the very first Tales game and also I like Cress's design. This game also shares the same world as Tales of The Symphonies I can't remember if Phantasia is a prequel or sequel either way it will be interesting to see all the connections it has with Symphonia.

Daybreak II Failings Discussion

Ah yes everyone's favorite Trails game, better than Sky SC, better than Azure, better than CSIV, better than Reverie 😂

I still enjoyed this game despite some of its faults but let's talk about some of its failings.

The Mystery of The Red Grendel - This was the hook of the game and it's also on the front cover of the game itself. I was so excited for Daybreak II because of this but then I found out the truth. >!Dingo Brad is the Red Grendel a shard-based copy of him.!< I was very disappointed with this conclusion. >!The game also doesn't focus on the Red Grendel story, only during the beginning and the end of the game is he actually relevant. The focus of the game lies mostly on the Garden Master the true villain of this game.!< We'll talk more about him later. Anyway this hook was solid it could've led to a great story but we didn't get it unfortunately.

Corrosion - Ah yes everyone's favorite plot point in the entire series better than the >!Curse from CSIV!<. It seems like an interesting idea on paper but the way Falcom executed it was not very good. >!Even though I don't like the curse plot from Cold Steel either it was set up from previous games and when you think about it your like ohhhhhh that's why Erebonia is so fucked up.!<

>!The Garden Master!< - The best villain of all time, fuck Sephiroth the true ultimate villain is the >!Garden Master!<. I was actually looking forward to this guy and the mystery surrounding him had me intrigued almost as much as the Red Grendel. Sadly it was not meant to be. >!The GM is Auguste in a AI constructed body of Ace.!< >!What I dislike most about The GardenMaster is that they used Ace to try to add to the mystery. Also without the Ace bait & switch, Swin & Nadia become irrelevant to the story which is lame because I enjoyed their inclusion in this game. The GM's motivations aren't very well defined either, it's been awhile since I played the game so maybe I'm wrong here. He wants to enact his ideal world through use of the Oct Genesis because he felt wronged by what happened to him in the past or something like that.!< Anyway I didn't like his character.

Time Rewind - This could've worked I played a game with a mechanic like this before in Neo The World Ends With You I didn't like it in that game either because you had to repeat certain actions & scenes but narratively it works and it's much better in that game. This game I haven't played for myself but Radiant Historia also had a mechanic like this and people loved it in that game. It started off interesting with seeing >!Elaine's death!< but then it just got progressively less interesting and more repetitive as the game went on. Act III is where it becomes unbearable.

Alright that's it.

FF7 Rebirth Opinions

I beat FF7 Rebirth on April 21st 2026 and since FF7 Revelation is coming out next year I thought I'd share my opinions on the experience. Prepare for a very long post. First I'll go over what I liked.

[Most of The Chadley Content] 🙊

Yup I liked the Ubisoft Towers, finding the springs, hunting the rare beasts, the Summon Shrines and some of the simulator fights. I liked doing these, it was oddly satisfying getting the checks for completing all that stuff. I also did not think Chadley is as bad as people say or his AI friend (forgot her name) though some of their conversations are a bit cringe.

I did not like searching for the Transmuter Chips but the music that plays for these is great though. I also did not like most of the Protorelic Hunting Quests. I only liked the one in the Grasslands (probably the best one) and the one in Gongaga. The one in Nibelheim could've been a lot better if those damn Black Cloaks could move faster.

[Combat] ⚔️

Anytime I get the chance to engage in some combat I'm having fun with this game for the most part. There were only two times where I was not having fun, Rufus Fucking Shinra and the Coliseum Battle for the Can't Stop Won't Stop Side Quest. I was gunning for the trophy to complete all Side Quests but this particular Quest almost made me quit, I hated it. I did beat it through some kind of miracle I have no idea how I did it. I think I spent like 2 or 3 days trying to beat this dumb quest, very annoying.

[Characters] 🎭

For the most part I enjoyed the characters and their interactions however I am disappointed to see that Cait Sith had 0 bonding moments and I did not like what they did to Red XIII's voice.

Alright now for the other stuff I didn't like.

[The Minigames] 🎰

Hated most of them. Here's the ones I liked.

Queens Blood - I didn't know if I liked it at first but as I slowly began to understand the game it grew on me and I eventually started playing against everyone I could. The Shadow Blood Queen is bullshit though I tried a few times and then called it quits.

Chocobo Racing - I knew I would like this one from the moment I saw it in the trailers, I sucked at the first but as I got better it became much more fun. I beat every race and got the trophy. There's way too many races in this I think they should've trimmed a few out but otherwise it's great.

Junon March - I was nervous doing this one because I failed to get a satisfactory score in the Dance Thing back in FF7 Remake so many times I thought the same thing would happen here but no. This mini-game was actually not that hard and I liked it but I didn't enjoy it because I was nervous the whole time trying not to make a mistake.

Now for the ones I hated. I'm not going through them all otherwise we'll be here all day but here's some of them.

Fort Condor - I used to like this one back in the FF7 Intermission DLC but they ruined it here by doing one simple thing. You now have to kill the central boss thingamajig to win while also having to deal boss thingamabob 1 to the left and boss thingamabob 2 to the right. In Yuffies DLC you could kill just one or two and still win, it was much easier. Here killing thingamabob 1 or 2 effects nothing, you still lose if you don't take care of thingamajig in the middle it may not sound like much of a difference but it is. I had trouble with this dumb protorelic quest only to find out there's an even harder version of this mini-game that I think you need to beat to get the platinum. This is one of the reasons why I didn't even bother attempting to get the platinum for this game.

Gears & ??? (Forgot The Name) - Seems kind of interesting but nah it's kind of boring, it looked easy at first and not too bad. Square Enix decided to teach me a lesson because it got progressively more harder and more annoying the 4th one was the worse one. By the time I was done I hated this mini game.

Cait Sith Box Throwing - Is this a mini-game? I count it as one. One of the worst ones in the entire game, the Shinra Mansion segment was not fun.

Cactuar Crush - This one is not bad with Yuffie but when I have to play as Aerith I want to turn the game off.

3D Brawler - I played this having no idea what I was doing in the beginning but eventually I figured out what I was supposed to do, even knowing though I sucked at it. I cheated my way to victory using picture guides to input the right responses but even using cheats didn't guarantee winning, you have to constantly pause and if your too slow bam you get hit. There's also a 50% chance you'll miss your attacks so there's that too. This mini-game was very annoying so much in fact that I didn't beat Sephiroth despite having the cheats for him I don't have the patience to pause every second and the pictures confuse me sometimes so I end up messing up regardless. I was lucky I got as far as I did.

Piano - I thought I would like this one, I'm a music guy I listen to soundtracks and I always had a thing for music since I was little. Who thought it would be a good idea to input piano keys with the analog stick? I completely failed at this mini-game. I didn't even try to get the rest. I think I would be much better at playing an actual piano than this.

Chocobo Stealth - Just hurts progression though the first few ones are not that hard or annoying the last two are.

[Story] 📖

Enjoyed some parts but mostly didn't like much of it. As someone who loves Zack Fair I thought I would've enjoyed his sections in the game but no I hated them, towards the end of the game I dreaded seeing them.

[Regions] 🗺️

- Grasslands Region - 🦗

Great introductiory region, I enjoyed it. I liked most of what I played from the early parts of the game.

- Junon Region - 🌄

I also enjoyed Junon, I like the music too it sounds like Pirates if you pay attention to it more closely. The Chocobos climbing walls was also a cool idea but sometimes it makes traversal feel slower.

- Costa Del Sol - 🏖️

Mini-games galore, Queens Blood was fun but I did not enjoy the other mini-games. Most are not that hard or annoying just not very interesting or fun. I get this part is supposed to be a bonding moment but why must I be forced into playing mini-games? I liked the Hojo encounter but why did they let him go though? Anyway I disliked the Johnny Clones Side Quest but I'm happy to see he's got a new business up and running. I also liked the journey to Corel speaking of which....

- Corel - 🏜️

The music here is phenomenal it's one of my favorite songs in the game. I enjoyed most of this region but visually it's probably the most boring region and it's kind of small too.

- Golden Saucer - 🪅

Mini-games galore Pt II, the Mini-games here had more effort put into them. The G Bike one was alright but the rest didn't really hook me in. The Arena Fights for the Key were great though that was the best part for me. I also enjoyed the moments leading up to catching Dyne. I didn't get the bonding scene for any of the girls unfortunately, instead I got Red XIII lol. The Loveless Play while narratively not that interesting was very fun gameplay wise and the fights were awesome.

- Gongaga - 🌳

Worst chapter in the game, worst area in the game, worst side quest in the game, leading a goddamned chicken with a metal crate or whatever to it's owner. It's easy to get lost because you're traveling via use of giant mushrooms that lead you to random areas on the map. If you're a completionist this is one of the worst areas and since I was trying to do everything here I experienced this.

- Cosmo Canyon - ☄️

Traversal here isn't as bad as Gongaga but still kind of annoying. Why? Because getting to higher areas is very difficult. I had to watch some YouTube videos to get to where I needed to go unlike in Gongaga where I just made educated guesses. Non-completionists probably don't have to worry about this. The story here was alright but they ruined Red XIII with his new voice.

- Nibelheim - ⛰️

Sephiroth has wonderful memories here. Apparently the singing lady in Cloud's house does too. The cat side quest here was not my favorite. I would've probably liked this region more if it wasn't for Cait Sith Box Throwing but also Vincent is here and I get to fight him hooray. 🥳 There weren't many side quests here and the Chadley content here is mostly fun. The Water Chocobo was a fun way to traverse the region. The music is kind of boring though.

- Temple of The Ancients - 🙏

A very long dungeon thankfully I played this part after taking a break from the game for 2 days, I enjoyed most of it because of that. I thank the devs for splitting the party up at first I was mad but then I started appreciating playing as different characters, mainly Tifa she's great. What I hated was using Aerith to collect Lifestream energy that was annoying. I write my own JRPG stories sometimes and it's very difficult to come up with puzzles but I think Square could've done a much better job than that. The best part of this dungeon though was the Turks, I had so much fun fighting them and the action cutscenes that play when you encounter them was also great.

- Miscellaneous - 😎

Favorite Character - Barret Wallace

Best Girl - Tifa

Most Used Character - Strife of The Clouds

Most Used Ability - Focused Thrust

Best Turk - Axel From Kingdom Hearts

2nd Best Turk - I was gonna pick Larxene but Rude is just too good.

Best Summon - Knights of The Round

Best Final Fantasy - Dissidia 012 For The PSP

Wow this post is way too long lol but I gotta take the plunge.

Favorite Route

I'm making too many posts but I can't stop.

What's your favorite Route in Tactics Ogre Reborn?

Law - 😱 👩‍⚖️

Chaos - 👍 😈

Or Neutral - 😑 ⚖️

When I first played this game my first choice was Law because I'm crazy and like to be contrarian sometimes.

If you look at the trophy percentages most people choose Chaos, you chickens 🐔

But I get it you don't want to massacre the innocent people of Balmamusa.

Also apparently a lot of people didn't get the Captain of Fate Trophy for beating the game on all routes. It's a small percentage but some people actually preferred to go through 100 floors of the Palace of The Dead to go get Nybeth rather than do all the routes. Insanity. 🤦🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️

Anyway my favorite route is Law but after replaying Chaos a few times I sometimes find myself thinking that one is better.

Law has the best recruits and a few sinister characters from Chaos & Neutral actually join you in Law. A character that died in the other routes also joins you here if you go through the convoluted path to recruit her. How is the Butcher of Golyat more lucky than the Good Guy of Golyat?

Chaos has the Liberation Front and Vyce also shows his true colors here. I enjoyed this one a lot, I liked many of the fights in this route.

Neutral is the worst in my opinion, you can't even recruit Leonar. This remaster was a chance for Matsuno and Co to add to this route and the rest of the game but they didn't. Also Neutral is worse for another reason, the only alteration to choosing Neutral is Chapter 3 otherwise the game is entirely the same for Chapter 2 Chaos along with Chapter 1 & Chapter 4 which is mostly the same no matter what choices you pick. So if you choose Neutral you only get one chapter of additional stuff laaaaaammmmmmmeeeeeeeee 🙄

Favorite Dark Knights

Not sure if this counts as a spoiler but I'm putting in the spoiler tag just in case. Anyway I've been making a lot of posts lately I don't know anyone who plays TOR so I gotta come here to share my enjoyment & opinions of the game. This one is gonna be short not as long as those last ones. My question is who is your favorite Dark Knight in Tactics Ogre Reborn? You can pick two because these guys don't have a lot of screentime and it can be hard to pick just one.

I picked Martym because he's just a troll, look at his face that's a trolls face. Every time there's a scene with him he says something out of pocket, my favorite is the Grimsby one.

Second is the obvious choice Lancelot Tartaros, originally it was Barbas but I changed my mind. Lancelot is a perplexing character, is he good? Is he bad or just morally grey? He's not as bad as his compatriots but he's not very good either he thought about killing Caitua after he lost in the fight against the Wretch of Golyat. Lancelot's perplexity makes him a more interesting character in my eyes and also his speeches about how the people wait for a savior to save them both in the prison with Hamilton and during the fight in Barnicia if you bring Hobyrim to the battle were both great. And if you think about it he's kind of right.

Trails (Hard To Recommend?)

I was thinking about this. Would I recommend the Trails Series to someone who's not very familiar with JRPG's? And I'm thinking I probably wouldn't, I would recommend Tales, Persona, Dragon Quest or something else. Why? Well let's get into that. I'm about to share some controversial opinions that I think many will disagree with, let's fight in the comments section (I might not be able to respond to everyone but I'll try.) Also prepare for a long post I'll try to keep it short.

Just to be clear I played Sky The 1st on PS5, CSI - IV, Reverie, all Daybreaks and Horizon. I have not played the Crossbell Duology though I've read and seen some spoilers. I also haven't played Sky SC or The 3rd either.

I'll start with how I was introduced to the series it was late 2015 and I didn't have a PS4 yet so I was looking for a new PS3 JRPG to get into after being disappointed by Tales of Zestiria. I saw a trailer for Trails of Cold Steel I had no idea what it was about or what I was getting into but I pre-ordered it anyway, on the picture to the right you can see it. CS1 came with an art book with pictures from CS1 and 2, an Erebonia Pin (I think I lost mine) and the game came with a manual when at the time most games didn't and all for just $50 I was so happy. I played the game and it was kind of slow and I noticed some annoying anime tropes but I enjoyed it, couldn't wait to get the next one. Anyway that's how I got into the series and it just went on from there.

I saw a video on YouTube from Femtroper she made a review for Trails of Cold Steel I and she did not like the game. I was so angry after watching that video because CS2 is where all the amazing stuff happens and she was going to miss all that because she dismissed the first game but now that I look at it from another lens I completely understand why she felt that way. I experienced the same thing with Trails In The Sky The 1st, that game was boring to me they save all the good stuff for the end of every chapter and yes some of those moments are great but it's a slog to get there. The exception is the Final Chapter, that's when things really ramp up but why should the good content be relegated to the end of a chapter or the end of a full game? I get these are set up games for the next one but why does it have to be such a slog? Here's an example of a game that's set up for a sequel that I think does it better than Falcom, Digital Devil Saga 1 the story is engaging and rarely ever gets dull and the soundtrack is one of the best things ever produced by Shoji Meguro. Another example is by Falcom themselves Trails Beyond The Horizon is another set up game for Horizon II and I think it's better than all the other set up games. I loved most of Horizon and even the Grim Garten which I know a lot of people didn't like very much.

Off tangent here but Falcom is pretty good at making Randomly Generated Dungeons. Go play Dark Cloud 1 & 2 or Persona 3 and 4 as examples of annoying randomly generated dungeons I love all those games but they get tiring real fast.

Anyway another point of mine is maybe the games should do what Daybreak 1 and Trails From Zero did both games have their own self contained story which arguably made them more entertaining than the set up games. I can say that for Daybreak, I don't know about Zero since I never played that one but I know a lot of people loved that game. Daybreak screwed up with the sequel but Horizon made up for it and Azure is beloved.

My other gripes with the series is some of the annoying tropes like Ouroboros always succeeding even after you beat them, "hah you may have won but it was all according to plan" 😏

Or you beat them in the gameplay but in the cutscenes they're perfectly fine. "Oh I was just testing you or I was only using 30% of my power (I don't think this ever happened but I wouldn't put it past Falcom)

Ouroboros comes in, spouts cryptic nonsense and disappears.

The big mystery surrounding Ouroboros is good for holding the audience's attention but it also hurts the narrative a bit. How long can Ouroboros withhold information without being needlessly cryptic and annoying?

And there's more but I don't think I can write it here because I have to look some stuff up. I thought I was going to say more and be more controversial but I guess not. Alright fine just to upset some people I disliked Cold Steel III & IV bam. And I liked Daybreak 2 but yeah Act III is terrible we can all agree on all that.

In conclusion it's kind of hard to recommend this series to newcomers, it's a big commitment and the slow start might alienate some people. I think if you're already a fan of JRPG's it might be easier if you're a newbie it might be harder. The best way to start the series is through Sky if you can get through the slogfest, CS1 has a better introduction in my opinion but I say Sky because you get SC and after that you get the Crossbell Duology which are the highs for the series according to fans.

The picture on the right isn't all the games I own just the ones I could fit onto the chair. I just wanted to show off the Cold Steel Lionheart Edition and I like Daybreak and Horizon so I thought why not include them. Anyway sorry for the long post. I still enjoy the series despite it's faults and Sky is good just really slow. See you in the comments.

Tactics Ogre Reborn King Tristan Ending

I just spent like an hour searching YouTube to find this ending and no one has uploaded it. This picture is from Reddit by the way from someone who platinumed the game. I am so disappointed to find out no one has uploaded this ending to YouTube but people had the patience to do the entirety of the Palace of The Dead and the CODA 4 content. Anyway apparently to get this ending you need to have a high chaos frame with the three clans (not 100% certain on which ones) you can get it with the Princess Ending or the Lord Ending supposedly but from what I know I think it was only available for the Lord Ending. I might have to upload this to YouTube myself but unfortunately I have no recording devices so I'm gonna have to use the PS5's recording thingamajig which is low quality but it's better than nothing I guess.

Also sidenote no one has uploaded all the Apocrypha Spell Abilities I was searching for the Dark Apocrypha Spell to see how it looked like and I couldn't find it.

I'm very sad that this game didn't reach a larger audience I saw that some people played for a short duration and then gave up on the game also some reviewers spoke negatively about the game like Retro Rebound for example I like most of his videos but I completely disagree with his opinion on the game. We may never get a sequel to this game and that's a shame because I think a sequel would've been awesome but the chances of an FFTactics is higher given that it has Final Fantasy in the title. The chances for an FFT sequel is also pretty low too but definitely way more likely. I follow Yasumi Matsuno on Twitter and it doesn't seem like he has any plans for any new games atm the guy is just chilling.

The Bakram aren't that interesting

I'm replaying through the Law Route in Tactics Ogre Reborn on a new PSN Account after I finally beat Balbatos I started thinking about the three clans in Valeria. The Walister, Galgastani and Bakram and I just realized the Bakram aren't as interesting as the Galgastani or the Walister. The Galgastani had memorable villains like Xaebos, Sir Hektor, Gildora, Ganpp, Nybeth and his crazy Necromancy Family, Gatialo and so much more. The Walister had Vyce, Leonar, Ronway, Xapan and even Gousin. Then we have the Bakram the most interesting ones are the Phoraena Sisters, Denam of course, Brantyn was entertaining and Caitua but she was more annoying to me than interesting. The Bakram are mostly uninteresting with the focus on Chapter IV being relegated to the Dark Knights who are way more captivating.

Also side note and controversial opinion here but I think Chapter IV isn't as strong as the previous chapters, it has great moments but all the crazy twists and sense of urgency in the previous chapters is gone in Chapter IV. Gameplay wise though Chapter IV is the players playground, you get the best spells, equipment and side quests galore plus unique recruits like Azelstan, Ocionne & Lindl.

So I heard this song and Lost In The Darkness, Lost To The Darkness both really stuck with me but I like this one more. I know there's a lot of Wild Arms 3 in honorable mentions but that game has a lot of good songs.

Persona 4 Revival TV World Dungeon Design

Do you guys think Atlus will make the TV World another randomly generated dungeon like Tartarus or more like the Palaces in Persona 5?

I kind of get why they decided to go with the randomly generated route in P3 Reload it would be kind of difficult to make a unique layout out of 264 Floors but P4 is designed in a way that they can make the various sections of the TV World more like a Palace with unique backgrounds and layouts. I would love it for this to happen.
