Going to an event soon and I want to run my Zeon aggro deck. Which version should I bring?

I’m planning to go to the next NTC. I’m really just going for the participation promos and to try a few more serious games, so having a super competitive meta deck isn’t strictly necessary since I’m not worried about winning it all, but I do want to have a good enough deck to have a good time. This has been my favorite aggro deck to play so I’m bringing it, but I’m torn on which version to bring.

Version 1: No turn 1 plays (except Turning Point) unless I go second, but that’s rarely been an issue. LR GFreD has been really good against tokens and low-level rush but doesn’t tend to do much against other deck types.

Version 2: Dopps give me a turn 1 option and Omega-Psycommu is a beast, but the former get pinged off the board super easily and the latter only comes in pretty late. I could also drop one Zeong to bring a second Omega-Psycommu.

Note: I’m not willing to sacrifice fun-factor. I’ll take suggestions but it must remain 100% Zeon (except GQuuuuuuX) and it must maintain at least three copies of Zeong since running that was pretty much the main reason I built this deck in the first place.

Trying to learn FreeCAD so I have something free for personal use. Is there anything you think I should know going in?

I've had several experiences over the years that have left me thinking "man, I really wish someone had told me this when I started out." Is there anything like that for FreeCAD? Stuff that's not immediately obvious and might not show up in tutorials but which needs to be understood.

I'm an engineering major and have access to Autodesk stuff for school, and I doubt my future employers will choose it over something like SolidWorks, but I want something I can use for personal projects without relying on my college or job to get it. I've already done a few basic things with FreeCAD (replacement bases for wargaming minis, a simple box for storing pencils, stuff like that) but I'm trying to learn it more thoroughly so I can tackle more complex projects. Most stuff I make with it will be 3D printed.

[Homemade] Learning to cook in preparation for finally moving out.

I'm transferring from community college to a full university so I'm finally moving out of my parents' house and into an apartment in about two months. I've cooked a little bit here and there since I was a kid, but given I won't have easy access to home-cooked meals in another city I thought it would be wise to try cooking more often. I've got a meal plan but I don't want to be stuck with whatever's in the dining hall for every meal, and my apartment has a full kitchen so I might as well use it.

  1. Pan-fried mahi with an orange jam-based sauce and rice. The sauce was extremely sweet, definitely sweeter than I want for fish. It was good but I think the sauce would work better for something else. The fish itself was great, the rice needed a bit more seasoning.

  2. Grilled chicken with Cajun seasoning and a salad. The chicken got a bit overdone on one side but it was otherwise pretty good. Served with BBQ sauce because I was out of honey mustard.

  3. Sirloin with fried potatoes and cheese muffin rolls. The steak was supposed to be medium-rare but the thermometer I was using is apparently off by quite a bit. I've replaced it. The cheese muffins are from a mix I got from a nearby BBQ place. Steak is a bit too expensive to cook it regularly but it turned out pretty good in spite of being a bit more done than I typically like.

  4. Breakfast-sausage burgers topped with eggs and bacon. My fridge died and I didn't want the breakfast stuff to go bad. It was actually really good but also fairly fatty/greasy. I'll probably make it again, just not super often.

Do y'all have any reasonably simple recipes I should try? I've already got some family recipes like cornbread and chili on the list but I need more ideas.

Edit: Correcting the order of the list to match the pictures.

I've been having a lot of fun with this deck lately. Any thoughts?

Casual play only as local events are usually on days when I'm working, but I've found it can be pretty brutal if I get the right draws.

Looking for a decent gaming monitor under $300

I'm moving into a new apartment soon and want to upgrade my desk setup when I do. To that end, I'm looking for a decent monitor. I've been using an old ViewSonic monitor I got as a gift and for the grand price of free I can't complain, but 32" is a bit big for my desk and 60hz, while usable, isn't ideal given I play a lot of older games that can easily get up to way higher framerates.

Unfortunately I know very little about the current monitor market and, while I am doing some research on my own, I'd really appreciate any suggestions. It'll be used for both gaming and college classes, and obviously anything else I decide to use my PC for. I run both Windows and Linux on a dual-boot system, which shouldn't affect anything but I thought I'd include that just in case since I have encountered some hardware in the past that doesn't seem to like that.

Must have:

  • 24"-27" (preferably 27")

  • 1080p or higher

  • At least 120hz

  • Good colors

  • Good motion clarity

  • VESA compatible

Nice to have:

  • 1440p or higher

  • HDR support

  • USB hub

Holy Grail (almost certainly not happening):

  • OLED

  • 16:10 aspect ratio

Are there any decent displays that would work for me?
