I've made so many posts about Ego addiction but it's never enough, it has no right being this much of a banger.

I've been documenting the number of times I played Ego on Spotify each week since it came out. Here are the results as it stands:

• Total listens since release: 412

• Total listening time: ~ 1,188 minutes (19.8 hours)

• Highest number of listens in a single week: 75

• Lowest number of listens in a single week: 13

• Average number of listens per week: 46

• Weeks as most played song: 7 out of 9

Only two songs were able to surpass Ego on weeks 5 and 6: Ritual was the first song to do so on week 5 and then MY DRUGS ARE DIGITAL by Holy Wars did it on week 6.

Needless to say Ego was my #1 song for May & June.

Tango has largely grown on me recently, I currently listen to it more than any other song on the album. For I Don't Care I like both versions but the single version is the one I listen to more so I included it in the ranking instead of the album version.

I also want to say that I still love every single track on this album. Leap of Faith & Frisson Noir at the very bottom doesn't mean I dislike them.

I didn't see a video before and I didn't expect it to be this abrupt. It's a good thing that the crew was able to respond very quickly. Hope Paulina will get the rest she needs now.

Alejandra has always been a great bassist but with Keep Me Fed and onward she's been getting better and better. Love to Be Loved, Kerosene and Ego are some of her best basslines of all time in my opinion.

Here's my rating and some thoughts on the songs:

1. Frisson Noir: 8/10. It's a nice song but not my favorite, especially that I'm not a huge fan of French lyrics. But it is a nice opening track.

2. The Eternal Return: 10000/10. Perfection from start to finish.

3. Leap of Faith: 10/10. Great song & nice vocals by Tarja & Marko.

4. At Sea: 10/10. This song is a masterpiece. I might not be listening to it much but it is one of her greatest songs ever in my opinion.

5. Blaze Forever: 10000/10. This is currently my #1 favorite from the album.

6. The Trace Outlives: 10/10. This song sounds very unique & magical. Easily one of my favorites from the album.

7. Tango: 10/10. This song kinda reminds me of Mystique Voyage.

8. Anemoia: 10/10. Absolutely beautiful song. It's always nice to have an acoustic track in such heavy album. Definitely one of my favorites.

9. I Don't Care: 9/10. It's a fantastic song and one of my favorites lyrically but I prefer the single version.

10. Against the Odds: 10/10. I don't know why but this sounds very Nightwish to me. I like it.

In the end, this is surely one of my favorite albums of all time, and being the first Tarja release that I witness, it'll always be very special to me. I would say it is my album of the year but there is still competition coming up since a new album by The Warning is coming in August and TW is my favorite band, so it might just be able to beat Frisson Noir for me. But until The Warning drops their album, Frisson Noir is my album of the year. I added all of it to my playlists and I'm gonna have it on repeat for way too long 🤘
