Mid-Oct London to Brussels with Snap

I realise the original post wasn’t a very useful question to ask so I’ll amend: has anyone booked snap tickets that appeared up to two days before the date of travel?

I know what day I want to take the Eurostar but the current price is insane, so I’m hoping to wait it out until two days before the day I have to travel (Monday 12th October)

Hi everyone! I’ve not used Snap before to book a train but I have last-minute trip I need to make to Brussels on Monday 12th or Monday 19th Oct. What are the chances a ticket will open up on Snap for these dates?

I read online that commuters to Brussels take this train a lot but I imagine not many tourists in mid-October.

How to (safely) pack an electric toothbrush

My toothbrush (Sonic Edge Rechargeable Toothbrush) can only fit in my compact toiletry bag when I detach the brush head. This leaves the metal rod exposed in the bag which could become bent or pole holes in the bag. Any tips on how to cover the metal rod?

Is there a way to leave EE mid-contract without a fee?

I am being made redundant and really need to switch to a cheaper contract since I don't know how long I'll be out of work. I've got till June 2027 until my SIM-only contract ends (I'm well aware how stupid I was to take out a SIM-only contract for 24 months) but I've seen deals for way cheaper than what I pay EE now for my SIM.

The first time I called I managed to get someone on the line who could switch me to a 30-day contract but then the documents he sent weren't loading. Now I've called back twice over 24 hours and I can't seem to reach the person I spoke to the first time - the other two people said I can only switch to another 24-month contract and that any upgrade-early contract would not have a cooling-off period.

Appreciate any tips or advice on what to do, if anything.

Hub gears not working?

The bike is a Specialized Globe Daily 01 with a 7-speed Shimano Nexus hub.

I’ve tried to fix this issue myself (via YouTube videos) a few times. First I used the barrel adjuster to line up those yellow lines at 4th gear, but after a few minutes of riding it ends up staying in 6/7th gear and the bike is impossible to ride again. When I check again, the yellow lines are nowhere near each other. My local bike shop had a quick look for free but then I had the same issue: works for a bit and then doesn’t anymore. When all is well, the gears seem to change almost perfectly so I think (and really hope!) this is a cable or tension issue and not the hub.

I’ve not worked on hub gears yet so I’m wondering if this is one of the following fixes:

- gear cable needs tensioning
- gear cable needs replacing
- shifter has an issue (doubt it)

Would appreciate any and all advice!
