Is a 1000 karma requirement normal for joining a Discord server?

I’m trying to join a Discord community, but it says I need around 1000 Reddit karma before I can get access. My account is still new, so I’m currently nowhere near that.

I’m not asking for upvotes or trying to bypass the rule. I’m just wondering if this is a normal requirement for Discord communities, or if it’s unusually high for new users. Is there usually another way to verify yourself, or do you just have to wait and build your account naturally?

Is it normal for a 5-day-old account to struggle with posting?

My account is only around 5 days old, and I’ve noticed that some subreddits won’t let me post yet because of account age or karma requirements.

I’ve read the common questions page, so I’m not asking for upvotes or trying to spam. I’m just wondering if this is normal for new accounts, and whether the best approach is to start by making genuine comments in smaller communities first.

Is there anything new users should avoid so their account doesn’t look suspicious or spammy?

What is the use of Subreddits having a minimum karma u must have to post? I am new to Reddit and almost all of my posts get deleted because of my low karma.
