Update on customer

If anyone saw my last post it seems like he left a really bad review on the store stating my name and everything - Very poor experience. I walked in to buy a projector for my 8 year old daughter because she is into art. With her and my son present, I walked up to an employee named …. and asked about said projector to see if they had it in stock. To which he informed me no, they did not. So I said okay. I then walked around to find some slime for my daughter and some candy for my son. After, I tried to walk to the self check out and pay for my items, but was interrupted by … who started to ask me questions about if I had an account and if I wanted one and all this stuff about my method of payment. I said no, and he proceeded to take my items from my hand and scan them. I’m a little confused because this was a self checkout and I don’t understand why he felt the need to do my transaction for me. Especially with other customers also at self checkouts, I’m wondering why without asking this young gentleman for help, why he felt the need to “watch” what I’m doing in order to “help” is what he told me. Verbatim. This is while I was present with my 11 year old and 8 year old. It didn’t make sense to me because there are cameras, literally one aiming directly down towards the scanner where you scan your items, and there were also other customers at self checkouts he was not directing his attention towards. People use self checkouts for all different reasons maybe Im autistic and I have anxiety about speaking to people? Maybe I did not want someone else touching my items? Feeling like I was being profiled by this young gentleman because I am a person of color and I am covered in tattoos, I then disengaged and told him I no longer wanted the two items and proceeded to walk out of the store disappointed. So what I’m confused about is, if you, …,didn’t do anything in the wrong and had a clear conscience, why were you offering me a 25% discount on the sale as I walked out the store? This, to me………does not seem like someone with a clear conscience. If you guys read all that does it seem like I did something bad???? I know we aren’t supposed to directly give out the coupons on our page but I usually give them out anyways to help out customers even sometimes using the 20% all items I just really feel bad about this and wanted to know if I should talk to my manager about this and I wanted to clear up the part near the bottom where he says that I offered him a discount when he walked out I in fact did not do this and offered it while he was making his purchase but then he cut me off saying I was profiling him and left so I really don’t know what else to do guys I’ve talked to one of my coworkers and they are on my side obviously and some of you guys on the last post also helped me out but now that he left a bad review I’m scared of getting in trouble for something that I feel like I did nothing wrong.

Customer

I just wanted to go on here and tell you guys my story and see if anyone has gone through this before, I was helping a customer at self-checkout because I was the only employee there. He asked why we were using self-checkout instead of the legacy register, and I explained that self-checkout is faster and makes it easier to help multiple customers if more people arrive.
About 20 seconds after he came up with his kids, other customers started using the other self-checkout stations. He then accused me of profiling him and said he didn’t believe my explanation about the self-checkout cameras. I was confused and told him that I wasn’t profiling anyone and told him I am a brown brother myself . He left with his kids after that. The interaction with the dude really bothered me because I was just trying to do my job and help everyone as efficiently as possible. Being accused of profiling someone when that wasn’t my intention made me feel awful and honestly ruined the rest of my day. Just wanted to know if I could have triggered some kind of response from the guy and if it could have been avoided also on a extra note I literally helped him look for a item when he entered the store so like what gives 🥲
