Unrealistic drone warfare

I realize that many aspects of the show are fantasy, competence porn, and that suspension of disbelief is a prerequisite.

But the widespread availability of drone footage from Ukraine makes S03E02 seem especially unrealistic … glaringly so to even laymen like me.

Two aspects stand out:
- the swarm of drones is far too numerous. That kind is scale would require AI autonomy, which isn’t there yet.
- the drones are far too docile, making it a literal walk in the park for Joe & Co to outrun and shoot down the drones. Current FPV drones already dive bomb their targets at speeds that are impossible to defend against.

Don’t get me wrong though, I enjoy the show overall and will continue to watch it. Once in a while I just gotta nitpick about little stuff like this.

Is it OK to cross the border to get a work laptop repaired, and go back later to pick it up?

Canadian Nexus holder here, living and working in Canada for a US Company. For work, I use a laptop that was bought in the US by our US office and fully configured there, then shipped to me in Canada ... which took 2+ weeks due to importation delays.

Recently, the laptop got corrupted and needs all software re-installed in the office (unfortunately no remote option) and the challenge is having to wait potentially 4 weeks for the roundtrip shipping.

Would there typically be any issues if I cross from Canada into USA just to get it shipped to our US office? And what about picking it up in the USA and bringing it back to Canada, once repaired?

I would be fully transparent about intentions, of course.

Elder Zamani played by same actor in both The Agency and Le Bureau de Légendes!

I did a double take when I saw the same actor (Nasser Memarzia) appear again as the elder Zamani in S02E02, adjudicating the issue of >!his hothead son assaulting Zak.!<

It’s too bad they didn’t bring back the same actor (Moe Bar El) for the junior Zamani … he was truly great. Menacing yet charismatic, sympathetic and incredibly sexy. But of course that’d be highly unusual casting.

If you thought Ford software was bad ...

Lucid is supposed to be a leader in software-defined vehicles, leapfrogging dinosaurs like Ford. In this video, Jason @ Engineering Explained lists all the issues he encountered with his Lucid Air over a 4-day road trip, driving him to return the vehicle under lemon law. Wow!

My 2023 Lightning Lariat ER's software is old-school, clunky and a bit limited, but hey I'm grateful that it mostly works. It's no Tesla, but I'll survive driving it for the next several years.

Why I sold my PT2

I currently own and love a Garmin Instinct and a Pebble 2 Duo, both with monochrome MIP displays.

I had the Pebble Time 2 for about a week before I sold it, primarily because I found the color MIP screen to be inferior to monochrome for reflectivity & legibility (especially for my aging eyes).

I tried to take photos/videos that illustrate this but couldn't do it justice, because the automatic-exposure/enhancement of newer phone cameras is "too good" and doesn't reflect real life experience.

Then I came across this Youtube video which perfectly shows the difference between two Garmin MIP displays -- one color, the other monochrome. It may as well be a comparison between the P2D and PT2.

At this point, I think the choice is clear: for MIP stick with monochrome, for color then skip MIP and go straight to AMOLED. Unfortunately the latter is not an option for Pebble yet.

I hope this post isn't considered spam ... I apologize if it is.

I am selling my PT2 (silver with black band) which I just received last week. Available immediately.

It has a small scratch on side of the body, but is otherwise in mint condition.

I'm located in Vancouver, Canada, so it will be much less complicated for me to ship to another Canadian buyer. If no firm offers from Canadians materialize by tomorrow, I'll be open to US buyers.
