50 Rosaries in 6 months? Cost, planning, what to do with them?

Hello all,

I recently had a death in the family and I turned to rosary making to keep my hands busy and mind occupied. I recently decided to make 50 rosaries to honor the years this person was with us, the age of their young child, his wife, and deceased child.

20 - Donated to a OFS order in SA, TX.

2 - for his family.

2 - Donated to a St. Paul de Vincent fundraiser (Seven Sorrows set, and a St. James set.)

Then 36 will need to find a home. I was planning on giving them to my parish for them to sell, but I might need a plan B.

Cost

I know rosaries do not have to be expensive. I know you can make them from twine. I know I don't have to use the materials I am using. I want them to be pretty. I have ideas and incoming supplies for the next 20 or so, but this is getting a little out of hand on cost. I am looking at various alternatives for supplies that will bring costs down. Ideas?

Planning

I am actually thinking about making a spreadsheet. This cost was not budgeted for and this may be a little bit of ADHD Schrodinger's bank account so I don't face the grief. Also, I am losing track of what I have, what orders have been placed, and which ones need to be placed.

Where to send them

Ideas if my Parish can't/won't take all of them? I know I could sell them on etsy, but I really don't want to make money from them or deal with shipping.

Thanks for your help!

For the homeless in SA, TX.

These will be given to a Secular Franciscan Order to give out during homeless outreach. When complete, there should be 20 total rosaries.

Westside Church had their AC stolen!

Help! - AC stolen from a Church on Westside

St. Rose of Lima had their 15 ton AC unit stolen from their building. This unit serviced the main church and Perpetual Adoration Chapel. If you can help with repairs to the building, donate towards the cost of a replacement, or help with security improvements they would be grateful.

Here is their website - https://saintroseoflima-sa.org/

Bead manufacturer/manufacturering

Hello all,

I am looking for a distributor/manufacturer of these spacer beads. They are moderately priced, but not regularly available on Etsy. Google lense isn't helping. Anyone have an idea where I should start looking?

Additionally I would love a version of this bead that had the thrid Catholic heart, the Chaste heart of St. Joseph. I don't think that exists. I could theoretically make them, or get them make via 3D printing, but I have no idea where to start.

Thanks!

Random questions

  1. Can I pray the rosary without a rosary? Is the physical item needed if all of the prayers are said correctly?

  2. I am considering OFS (Ordo Franciscanus Saecularis). a) Do I need to complete OCIA before I "start" that process? b) If I become OFS, can I move to taking vows as a Franciscan sister?

  3. Does anyone know of any non-cloistered Franciscan orders that take older people? Or any orders that take older people? Like late 50's early 60's. (Assuming good health, no debt or dependents)?

  4. If you take vows I understand that your personal holdings and future earning (if any) go to the church. Are you allowed to give a portion of your holdings to family? Does employer covered healthcare in retirement need to be rejected once you join an order?

This feels stupid - adding an appetite stimulate
