kleinanzeigen alternative?

It seems that kleinenzeigen does not work anymore, would anyone able to give me an dvice on what platform / app could I use to sell some of my stuff locally (we are moving)?

Or even better, would anyone be intersted in barely used guitalele for e20 and two books (The Correspondent from Virginia Evans and Perfection from Vincenzo Lotrinco), e5 each?

Thank you!

Offering: English / Czech. Seeking: French

Hello! 34F, native Czech speaker, living my life in English for the past 10 years, including completing a PhD in an English speaking country.

I am working on improving my French. My current level is B1 and I am trying to immerse myself in the language as much as possible.

I hope to connect with someone who would be up for regular calls in English/Czech and French. I enjoy travelling, crafting, and have interest in politics, languages, popculture, architecture...

Bluebook - how does the selection work

Hello,

just submitted my application as part of the first round. I am wondering about the following:

- Is it possible to see how many people applied for the same traineeship offer?

- How many people get selected for one offer?

- How long is the interview and what are the questions asked?

Thank you!

Offering: English or Czech. Seeking: French

Hello! I am currently learning French and looking for a French speaker with whom I could talk to practice (B1 level at the moment). I can offer Czech (my native language) or English (my main language in which I also completed a PhD in an English speaking country). My interests are politics, books, knitting, and travelling:-)

Hello everyone!

Like many others, I was pre-selected for the Blue Book traineeship today and I am thinking ahead to the application stage in June. My background is in European security/foreign policy research and MENA (PhD and postdoc). I’m particularly interested in the EEAS, but also trying to think strategically. Therefore, I have a question for those who have gone through the process before - how did you decide which posts to apply to? Is there something to consider when making the choice?

Thanks!

Hello.

I know that it has been asked thousands of times, but I do not know what to do. I submitted a manuscript on October 1, 2025, it was sent out for review on March 2, 2026, and editorial decision has been pending since April 17, 2026. I already emailed the journal to politely hint that my postdoctoral contract is ending and that I want to make sure that they will eventually email the decision to my private email address, but they certainly did not read the signal I tried to send.

Do I really have to keep waiting or is there anything I can do? Thank you.

For context, my contract ends by the end of this month and I am trying to get a non-academic research role, for which I still need some research outputs.

Hello,

I have a question regarding schufa. We are an academic expat couple, both EU citizens, and we moved to Germany knowing that we will not stay for more than two years. For that reason, have decided to keep our foreign bank accounts for consistency. Our German salaries are paid into these foreign accounts, we pay our bills from these accounts, and nobody has ever had any issue with that.

We also have German Revolut accounts but we only use them when we have to state German IBAN number.

If we make request to see our Schufa score with our German bank account, will the score also reflect whatever is going on on our foreign bank accounts which we use for 99% of our finances?

Thank you for any experience you may be able to share.

Update: We want to get to know our schufa score to be able to show it to potential landlords, because we need to find a new apartment for the second year of our stay in Germany.

Hello!

I applied for a job at the OECD yesterday, and today I was invited to complete an aptitude test. I’m supposed to take an analytical thinking test, an MIND test, and two core competency tests. I haven’t found any trial versions or much information about these tests online. Does anyone have experience with them? Also, is everyone who applies invited to take this test?

Thank you!

Hi! I am about to submit a manuscript to a journal. I previously project this proejct at the OSF website. Submission instructions of the journal state that "A link to the anonymized registration should be provided in the first footnote of the submission."

How do I do this, please?

Thanks!

▲ 4 r/LeavingAcademia+1 crossposts

Hello everyone, I am looking for some advice. My first postdoc ends in a month. It was a strange experience (a small town in a new country, no research funding and no travel funding, despite what was promised), and I have decided that I want to leave academia for non-academic research and policy roles. I have started applying, but I have had no luck yet. I also applied for one postdoc in another country (remote, interesting research topic which would have helped me with the transition, a perfect match with my methodological skills, but very low pay). I came second and did not get the job. However, the PI reached out to me and encouraged me to apply for another role within the department - it is a remote postdoctoral position with vague expectations (publish and get funding), which I could also do remotely while having other employment contracts.

I am very unsure about what to do. Should I fully focus on the transition, or take this postdoc to be able to take it slow? I do not want to start any new research projects by myself, but I would be okay with closing my current projects and contributing to research collaborations while treating this postdoc as a part-time job, which would allow me to keep applying for non-academic roles (and developing skills which I consider essential for the transition). I am not sure whether doing so would give me some certainty in this uncertain economy or just make me feel miserable about not giving anything my full attention.

Would anyone have any advice or experience to share to help me with my decision-making? Thank you.

Hello! I hope my question fits this sub. I’m looking for advice on how to get better at networking. I’m 34, recently completed a PhD, and have lived in four different countries. I’m very capable, have many hobbies, am highly organized, and actually a strong communicator. But, like many others I assume, I struggle with small talk and with being effortless and natural when meeting someone for the first time.

I’m especially aware of this right now, as I’m trying to transition to a different career path. Does anyone have advice on how to become more confident in connecting with others? I feel like I am always to much or to meeeh...

I’ve looked into some books on the topic, but I didn’t find them useful and didn’t really like them.

Thank you!
