Converting from old 'Zero1' controllers

Converting from old 'Zero1' controllers

Hello All,

I inherited some Hornby and Wrenn locomotives that were last used in the early 90's (they are boxed and in perfect condition though). They used a 'Zero1' digital controller system that I imagine is long since obsolete and I don't have the hardware for anyway. As a result they still have the control modules in them so wont work on a standard track or controller.

I tried to convert one back to standard by removing the control module and wiring per the diagram below, but it didn't work (likely because I didn't do it correctly). However, I'm also thinking there is likely a modern digital controller setup that would need a module in so it it isn't too expensive I could just change them out.

What is the best option? I'd like to use multiple at the same time eventually. But the reality is at present I only have a small table top track that would likely only use 1 at a time.

Thank you.

AWD over RWD for Midwest USA?

I did search the sub to see if this had been brought up before but didn't see anything.

I live in the midwest (Cincinatti area) and the Guilia is going to be my wifes car/family car. We intend on keeping her Ford Escape AWD as a backup car but 3 of the 4 cars I am looking at are RWD and not AWD. This is advantageous in they they are non salt belt cars (Carfax shows them all from FL) but then when we do get snow here, I'm debating if holding out for AWD is worth it.

Do any owners here live in northern states and get on ok with RWD?

I'm building a Trumpeter Titanic model. My wife had an idea of making the figurines on board look like the Titanic Adventure out of time characters. Help me decide where on board to put them!

New creator with some questions on format and media permission in videos.

Hello all,

I am working on a project to start a maritime history channel, mainly focusing on shipwrecks but also on maritime history in general. Kind of like Ocean Liner Designs on Youtube, but initially focusing more on brief (10min) videos similar in format to Fascinating Horror.

I have 2 questions so far:

  1. Both the above channels tend to have a more chronological order format for events (Titanic was built in 1909-1912, departed on her maiden voyage etc before talking about the sinking). But, I've also been told that having an engagement 'hook' at the beginning is more important. For example, open with "A ship is sinking, there aren't enough space in the lifeboats and the water is freezing. By morning, 1500 people will have perished". Is this a must?

  2. For images or videos. Lets say for example, the Costa Concordia sinking. What is the best course of action to find safe ones to use? I am aware of the Creative Commons licence search option on Google images. Is that what people use or should I use a paid service like Getty images to use them?
