Release : Tutorial PS2 Surume version 0.0.3

🚀Settings with the MTVU1 hack per Game;🚀

️Important Note ⚠️

Before diving in, I want to set clear expectations regarding this technique. Please note that this solution is not a universal fix; it is a targeted hack designed to boost performance in specific titles. While it yields excellent results for games like KH1, it relies on frame-skipping, which can introduce visual stutter and an inconsistent feel in other engines.

(First, disable the hacks: VU1 Instant and VU1Flag Hack — they are not compatible with MTVU1.)

(These settings will not work for all games, but for some games.)

- Performances -

· EE Cycle Skip ( The only setting to try among the different modes is to see if it adds performance or not."), Disable (OFF) them if you experience slowdowns!
· MTVU (Multi-Threaded VU) Enable
· MTVU sync → Unsafe (Fast) Enable
· Wait loop detection Enable
· INTC stat hack Enable

- CPU -

· EE clamp → None ( Full if there are visual bugs. )
· EE round → Chop/Zero
· EE div round → Nearest
· VU0 clamp → None ( Normal if there are visual bugs. )
· VU0 round → Chop/Zero
· VU1 clamp → None ( Normal if there are visual bugs. )
· VU1 round → Chop/Zero

The clamping modes (like 'Full' or 'Extra') are fixes to resolve graphical bugs or specific crashes in certain games. Enabling them by default slows down emulation unnecessarily without providing any general benefit. They should only be used if a game absolutely requires them.

- Display -

· 120hz Mode : Interpolate ( High Device )
· Vsync ( sync frame 3 )

- Rendering -

· Aspect → Stretch
· Renderer → Metal
· Résolution → 2x
· Framebuffer Fetch

MTVU is very compatible, but it can cause problems in some games (like freezing during cutscenes or loading). If a game crashes, you need to disable it.

In summary, the most effective combination for MTVU is to enable the hack while keeping all Round and Clamp settings on their default values ('None' and 'Chop/Zero') to get better performance with MTVU1.

New Super Mario Bros Wii FIN Neo

With all this posting, people will start saying I'm doing propaganda, ahah — but I'm just an enthusiast who discovered FIN early on and who works on putting together tutorials for some apps, including FIN. I do it out of passion, and I love sharing this kind of performance without sideloading :)

Mario Kart Double Dash 120fps hit

A lot of work has gone into the settings for FIN Neo, and here's the result. I don't know how many of you are on the Shark POND Discord, but my tutorial is there, explaining everything! Currently, I've been able to run a huge number of Wii and GC titles with excellent performance! I have one extra tip on top of my tutorial: use a physical controller! It makes your game even smoother.

For those who want an app without sideloading, it's become super viable and increasingly stable. Thanks to Donqui, the dev who does wonders — even though, in my opinion, his work isn't recognized at its true value. Respect people, respect the work. Everyone is welcome to help evolve iOS emulation.

FIN 2.0.1 Neo ⚡ Official Best Settings

CPU:

CPU Clock : ON / 30% - 50% (Playing between these two values guarantees optimal performance.)

From 30 to 50%, it's just the values I use most of the time, which give me good performance in many games. After that, it's not an exact science, some games will require a default value or a value outside of what I mentioned.

GFX:

Aspect Ratio: Fill (image display format)

Backend Mutltithreading : ON

Shader Compilation: Async + Uber

Precompile Shaders: ON

Internal Resolution: X2 - X4 (Depending on your device, you can change the resolutions.)

Disable Copies Filter: ON (Image sharper / sharp sometimes more pixelated or raw.)

These options are mainly used to:

increase FPS:

bypassing the limits of the Wii/GameCube

but can break graphic effects in some games

Skip EFB Access From CPU: ON

Store EFB Copy to text: ON

Defer EFB Copies: ON

Ignore Format Changes: ON

Accuracy: Fast

Store XFB Copies to text...: ON for Better perfomance! and disable for better compatibility ( ON For me )

Fast depth calculation: ON

Save texture cache to save: ON

Force progressive scan: ON

Framebuffer Fetch: ON

these settings are to be added to the main menu before launching your game, unlike the old tutorial. The only thing you will have to adjust per game is the CPU clock speed where you can change the value depending on your game between 30 and 50% as mentioned.

COD Black OPS 1 ( FIN Neo ) Cached Interpreter

Recording does affect performance, as you know, but I still wanted to show you what it looks like without graphical bugs.

Unfortunately, only touch controls are currently supported in the game — the issue is already known. Without recording, I can say that I run between 40 and 60 FPS. It's much better than the previous version, having tested several settings.

I'm also including the tutorial I just posted on Discord and Reddit.

Morrowind/Oblivion Now playable

It's truly impressive that with the latest version of Duke X and XenIOS, we can run Bethesda games so well. Open worlds of rare quality at our fingertips.

I didn't make any specific settings adjustments, except on XenIOS where I switched the backend to Vulkan and disabled 'Treat 3D Textures as 2D' and 'Allow Invalid Fetch Constant'. I set Readback Resolve to Full to avoid texture rendering bugs.

Duke X : https://github.com/MaftyManicEMU/DukeX
XenIOS : https://xenios.jp/

The performance is respectable, and it will only get better with time. Some minor bugs I already mentioned in my previous post are still there, but it's already a big step forward.

I'm also able to run Skyrim with MeloNX, and I can't wait to test version 2.4, which should be arriving soon based on the announcements 📣

XenIOS The Elder Scrolls Oblivion

Since the update that came out today, I've been able to run Oblivion in a more than honorable way! There are still slight audio or texture bugs, but everything is much more stable and without flickering. You can now read and access the various menus more clearly. This update has allowed me to launch several different games! I highly recommend it for better stability.

Alternative to apps that require JIT.

For anyone who is a fan of emulation but doesn't have the chance to use JIT, I've put together a small selection of console apps that can do without it, with varying levels of performance depending on your iPhone.

Manic Ému or Retroarch : Manic Emu is a multi‑system emulator frontend, including 3DS, offering a simplified, lightweight interface and quick setup. RetroArch, on the other hand, is a universal multi‑system emulator that uses 'cores' (via Libretro) to emulate almost any machine. Its power and flexibility are far superior, but its configuration is more complex. In short, Manic Emu focuses on simplicity for plug‑and‑play use, while RetroArch aims for completeness and rich features across the whole retro‑gaming spectrum.

Manic ému : https://apps.apple.com/fr/app/manic-emu-%C3%A9mulateur-de-jeux/id6743335790

Fin: FIN: The GC/Wii emulator on which I have worked extensively to provide stable settings and thus enable a smooth experience! It allows you to play GameCube and Wii games, using a powerful cached interpreter. It's one of the best releases since the beginning of the year, and it's freemium — there are ads, which you can remove for a few cents.

Fin : https://apps.apple.com/fr/app/fin-game-emulator/id6758910777

Surume : It is currently the best PS2 emulator based on PCSX2. It allows you to play 2D and, to some extent, 3D games with some sacrifices. The 3D games that are playable, having tested them, include: Kingdom Hearts 1, Maximo, Naruto Ultimate Ninja 1. There may be others I haven't tried, and all the 2D games I've tested work wonderfully. For a few euros, it could let you relive some great nostalgic moments.

Surume : https://apps.apple.com/fr/app/surume/id6763616488

iFly and Plume: two Dreamcast apps currently under active development! Both allow you to play Dreamcast without JIT without any issues on my end. They are simple to use, the visual quality is sublime, and both let you play optimally — I haven't encountered too many problems.

Plume : https://testflight.apple.com/join/fa2EtaGt
iFly : https://testflight.apple.com/join/KTUTErgU

TailFin: to finish this category of JIT‑less emulators, there is TailFin — a JIT‑less app for the Wii U! It remains very experimental and demanding on certain devices. I would not recommend it for anything below an iPhone 15 Pro.

TailFin : https://testflight.apple.com/join/zJAF6tCc

Vion : Don't forget Vion, the PS Vita emulator currently in development :) it's still very experimental, but it's progressing at its own pace.

In conclusion, the start of this year is insane! There are also JIT‑based emulators that have been released: Duke X (Xbox), XenIOS (Xbox 360, which should arrive soon with a new update), ARMSX2 and IPSX2 for PS2, MeloNX (Switch). We can say that iOS emulation has reached a new milestone this year.
